    • I also thought Tyson held back against Roy. But it was an exhibition match so it was expected. Just as this fight against JP is an exhibition. So most likely neither will give it their all. But if Tyson feels like JP comes at him too hard or harder than he expected, I can see Tyson deciding to come at JP with the same intensity or with even more.

  • I'm 76 and know my limitations and dwindling capabilities, which are of course significant now, although I can still outwork many 20-year-olds who can barely lift an 80-pound sack of concrete, or who would have no ability to take down a 3 ft diameter tree and turn it into firewood as I did recently. And when I was 58 I also knew what I could and could not do. I can guarantee you that at 58 I would have been a tough challenge for many who would have been less than half my age. With the skills and temperament that Mike Tyson has ingrained in him, even at 58 he is going to be a fierce competitor. Do not underestimate him because you yourself are young and think all older guys are way over the hill.

    • Would you get in the ring with a 27 year old at your age now?

      @ryanr20091@ryanr200912 ай бұрын
    • @@ryanr20091 Not without a compelling reason, and not if it was obvious that I would get my head handed to me on a platter. I definitely shy away from confrontations if at all possible. Last potential one was in a Subway sandwich shop about 6 years ago with a flabby, unfit loudmouth itching for trouble, and who was probably 40 years my junior. To make this brief, this is exactly what I told him: "I am going to save us both a lot of trouble; I'm leaving." Incidentally, I was carrying an Sig P229 with one in the chamber, and I do have a concealed carry permit. However, if he had followed me out and instigated a fight I doubt seriously if I would have needed any help beyond my fists, although I did have a clear and legitimate option. Times are different now than they were several decades ago. A "fighting ring" scenario would be very hard for me to imagine ever being likely or possible, and with my lungs I would have trouble going more than 2 rounds. However, I am absolutely certain that I would have no hesitation at all to intervene in a situation where an innocent party was being assaulted, regardless of the consequences that I might have to suffer. My considerable history proves this. Since your question seemed serious and genuinely inquisitive, I will add this: For the last 4-5 months for every other day (meaning every second day), I have been doing a minimum of 2 sets of 20-repetition curls using 20 pound weights for each arm. I also have a heavy bag set up in my basement, and I can still deliver some solid punches. Then there is this: a good friend the same age as I am still teaches martial arts. I would not be able to last 5 seconds with him. Again, I know my limitations.

    • @@ryanr20091 My carefully worded, albeit long-winded reply was deleted. I don't like providing short, unqualified answers, so I'll simply say there are too many wrong conclusions that could be made with a straight Yes or No answer. However, if you are simply asking if I think that at my age I could step into a ring and take on an even a marginally qualified and halfway professional 27-year-old fighter and do okay, then the answer is, "Of course not." I might surprise him a bit if I was able to get in a couple of hard shots, but that would be the best I could hope for before getting obliterated. (I do work out a bit with weights and a heavy bag.)

He isn’t a guy who had way too many wars and way too many rounds and brain trauma. We already saw a similar thing with George Foreman coming back at a fairly advanced age and he did very well against top level much younger opponents. Do I wish Tyson would not fight and protect his health? Sure. But do I think he could legitimately destroy Jake despite being in his late 50’s? Absolutely. I’m not making any judgements on it these are just facts. I also wonder if it would even be POSSIBLE for Mike Tyson to get a fair trial, guilty or not. The whole world knew him and all they knew about him was he absolutely brutalized people on TV. Best heavyweight ever? Nope, drugs, partying, his manager and wife all brought him down and overcoming adversity is a big part of being an all-time great. However true boxing aficionados understand that early Tyson was unlike anyone they had seen, with blinding speed and savage ko power in both hands from crazy angles. Slipping and head movement that made for an extremely elusive style that made him one of the best if not the best technical heavyweight ever. Until everything brought him down, that is. That early version of Tyson that threw the wicked deadly accurate combinations I would match against anyone, of any time. The one-shot headhunter always looking for the knockout punch that came after he fired Rooney(and all the aforementioned) was still a good fighter, but definitely not an all-time great and fighters are judged by their entire career. So yeah, he will never be known as the greatest but he will be talked about for as long as boxing is around, and that’s worth something by itself. He’s a polarizing figure…every time someone has something positive or negative about him, someone else has to speak up to make the counterpoint. While people may not have a good opinion of him, they always have an opinion. When you consider that boxing is about entertainment and engagement, that means a lot.

Just because Jake Paul has a big KZhead following he shouldn't be able to get to the top any quicker than anyone else. The reason why he has so many haters is because he hasn't paid his dues like so many others have, instead he has just used his followers to make a spectacle out of boxing people who aren't even boxers or boxers that aren't very talented and the one time he does fight a talented boxer he loses. If he truly wants to have a serious boxing career then he needs to quit using his followers to try getting a short cut to the top and pay his dues just like Mike Tyson and all of the other great boxers that have come before him. That's the only way to not disrespect every other professional boxer that has ever stepped in the ring, at least in my opinion it is.

  • It's an exhibition. I don't expect them to fight for real. If they do, i think jake paul would get his head ripped off. Those haymakers he throws at unskilled opponents, will not land on Mike Tyson with his Peekaboo style. Even at age 58.

    @edntz@edntz2 ай бұрын
    • It definitely is just an exhibition match. Even at 58 when the fight comes around Tyson will be in good shape. He is always working out. And if Tyson was fighting for real. Jake would not have the skills to move out of the way of Mike. Experience over youth will always prevail. Especially if you still got the love for the game like Mike has.
