  • That’s a beautiful spot for a cabin. If it was mine I’d probably be spending a lot on time there. You should stock your pond with fish so that anyone staying there can just step out the back door and catch a few fish. It’s a good time of year for stocking your pond with fish.

  • *Hey Chris, a suggestion on your front concrete porch - a buddy of mine did one like that and he used 'barnwood stamps' and some colored dye and his porch looks just like a barnwood floor! From what I understand, it's a minimal expense when compared overall, for such an awesome porch! I would imagine that would also go nicely with your cabin! It's all looking wonderful!*

This cabin is going to be rented regularly with that awesome view on the small pond and how it's going to have a front covered porch and a nice deck in back plus a bbq area And a fire pit area with an area leading down to a pebble beach on the edge of the pond. He's definitely not going to have a problem keeping it booked.

  • Stayed at a cabin several years ago that had a three-style back deck design. One third of the deck had no roof for sun bathers. The middle third of the deck was open with a roof. The final third of the deck was roofed and closed in with screening for times and seasons when mosquitoes were bad. They also screened the underside of the deck of that portion or mosquitoes would come up thru the gaps in the deck boards. The kitchen, living room, and dining room were all in the center of the house as one big open room. Two large bedrooms, one on each side of this great room could sleep four people each and each bedroom had its own bathroom. Two families could easily stay there and still have some privacy. Great design. Thanks for sharing.

  • I have a farm house with a dirt crawl space, I would strongly recommend pouring a concrete rat slab. Once they’re in they never leave especially with all the livestock feed around

    @sivart173@sivart173Ай бұрын
    • I fully agree. Crawling around on dirt to install and maintain plumbing and HVAC equipment would be nasty. My house has a 36” high crawlspace with a concrete slab. I can scoot around on a dolly no problem. No insects or rodents can get in. If it had been dirt or gravel I would not have bought the place. Only need a thin slab, as it won’t be load bearing. Pour it before the framing, no problem at all.

      @tomrogers9467@tomrogers9467Ай бұрын
    • That's not a code down there? Up north you have to have a rat slab under all living space.🍻

  • @letsdig18 maybe plant a row of cherry trees on the opposite side of the pond, dig out some pits , fill with top soil , you know , pea gravel beach sounds good, maybe put some concrete steps under water push in some treated wood pillars for a jumping deck ? Add the kind of fisch that eat mosquito larva perhaps a slide from the porch and tree swing rigged into the big oak

  • Definitely the larger the back deck, the better, and a screened area to protect from skeeters is essential. Plant clover around the house rather than grass. Soft underfoot, good for pollinators, and you never have to mow it. ☘️

Once in awhile I would have an employee to kick up a fuss about it and I would always tell them "the pay is the same." I see here you adapt to that theory because it was good to see you apply that waterproofing on the foundation, your new moto should be "Let's Dig Because We Get It Done"...

But of course I wasn't thinking like a good watcher of this channel. He had a perfectly fine many excavator right next to him and he's very good with his grading bucket. Have to laugh, Chris! Pea gravel 'beach' will work for lawn chairs - leave a spot for a picnic table. Don`t forget to let us know when you start a reservation book. It was just a shade better than the shovel. Seems like it was always muddy as f.. when it was time to level crawls.
