One thing that's been constant about his career is how much everyone wants to work with him. That plus his lifelong love of action movies meant he would have ended up almost purely an action star no matter which movie put him in that position.

    • @@inritus7193 Precisely, I suspect that there's a huge overlap between people that hated this movie and people who actually care when movies/TV deviates too much from the source material. For what it intended to be it was great. It's not a movie that I actively seek out, but if it's on TV, I'll get quite a few laughs.

      @jibinmathew5290@jibinmathew52904 жыл бұрын
    • デグレーットヒロX spirited away is a masterpiece, a high point in both animation and movie making, and undoubtedly (and reluctantly speaking) the greatest anime film, if not the best animated film of all time. That being said, it’s not exactly emulated or inspiring on popular culture. Now Akira gets credit for making Anime possible in the west (thus influencing Spirited away), experimented with technology to create it, changed many different anime practices, directly influenced several western movies and shows, and nailed one of the greatest predictions for an event ever... spirited away is the high point of Anime, but it’s close second place is the reason any of us even talk about Japanese animation. Akira is also a masterpiece, but it’s also a pop culture phenomenon. It’s 2019 now, so pop a capsule, ride a bike, and get your inner ESPer out! AHHHHHH!!!!
