I was requested to do this video for some time now by EmeraldEllie on Twitter.
FE4 has a whooping 16 different opening scenes, which are chosen at random. The more you beat the game, the more of them you unlock. Some take 10(!) playthroughs to unlock, if not more. \
These scenes give some really neat insights into what happened in FE4. For example, we see Lewyn being revived by Forseti/Holsety. We see Arvis killing Sigurd even with -- on his battle stats, Deidre warping Julia away and healing Arvis, and so on.
I trimmed out the repeating scenes, and then looped the audio for a smoother viewing experience.

It's crazy how they hid many extra story elements in these little scenes. Like Lewyn getting killed by Manfroy and revived by Forseti. Or Deirdre warping Julia out of Belhalla before Julius can kill them both. Or how we get shown the deaths of Quan and Sigurd in a battle format, which makes it a bit sadder even. The opening is just one of those small things that make this game great.

@@deezcastforms Was discussing this with a few associates. Sigurd was simply fated to die then and there at Belhalla, the evidence being the Valkyrie Staff. Fated to die either by a boost in Arvis' favour, or unlucky in Sigurd's. Since even if Sigurd can technically 1RKO Arvis, Luck still plays a part in whether the Lord would hit.

RNG screwed over both Sigurd and Lewyn. Game mechanics took a massive dump on them both. :/

While I do agree with that having someone being cheerful is better then someone who is mostly serious, Its just that fire emblem hasn’t done an amazing job at potraying cheerful people, with 90 percent of then being annoying as fuck and would rather have them not speak a single word. I mean I really do like tiltyu and horsetti don’t get me wrong but at the same time if they do remake fe 4, I would be more interested in seeing the realionship between lewin and eryness and how the death of her sister affects that. 0:39 This General also has 18 Attack with a 15 might Brave Lance, meaning this Heirhein General had to have 3 Strength; the class base for General is 10 Strength. 3:00 Ayra does 8 damage with her first attack, a critical, despite having 25 Attack to Arden's 27 Defense. Her second attack does 4 damage. Her fourth attack is a critical hit that deals 4 damage. None of these obey the standard damage calculations. This would also be impossible as the Silver Blade has 20 might, meaning Ayra had to have 5 Strength; the class base for Swordmaster is 12 Strength. 8:22 Julia speed ties Julius with Naga. It is technically possible, but only at Shaman base of 7 SPD. Since Julia is a Sage, this is impossible, as the Sage class base is 15 SPD.
1:35 and 6:30 press F for the Tharacian Wyvern Knight with negative strength.
Oh yeah, Silver Blades have 20 mt , and the only way to have 16 attack with a silver blade is if you had -4 strength.

I have done it and it was certainly a journey. A slow one.
I got my arden to Lv 20 by making him wait beside the first chapter boss and since he cant double could never kill the boss, so he just kept hitting him once per turn while getting a bunch of free xp.

that's how 1RN works. when they say your hit chance is 99%, they mean it. because humans are terrible at understanding probability, a 99% hit rate will miss a lot more often than you think it will (or at least you'll remember the times it missed more than the times it hit). it's ironic how later fire emblem games actually lie to the player about hit rates (e.g. if you have 80 hit in every post-thracia game except fates and echoes, you actually have a 92.2% chance to hit), but when they do, we think they're actually being more honest.
@@ryangallagher9723 Because an 80% seems like 8/10 times I should hit, so when I miss 3 times in a row it's rigged bullshit. People don't see a wheel spinning that can land on miss every single time, because that's not logical, RANDOM isn't logical by definition. What we imagine is that you're guaranteed 8/10 hits and only 2/10 misses. It takes a different sort of mind to wrap around the notion of random probability.

I absolutely love this rendition of the main theme of the series. It's just so epic and awesome, but that is a serious understatement. Whenever I listen to it, it really gets me hyped up. Perhaps it's not the best in the series to some people, but it certainly isn't the worst (not that there are any bad renditions of the theme).

Nagare Ryouma I think Arvis knows how to get his hands dirty. He’s more the type of guy who gives out orders while he then goes and does his own thing without help. In the prologue he personally went to Sigurd to give him the silver sword. Not some mage or something. But I guess his father told him to go.Though, Arvis would probably persuade him to deliver the sword so he can see Sigurd himself.

The Draco can't possible have 16 attack with a silver blade as the weapon has 20 might, meaning that moron would need NEGATIVE 4 STREGTH to achieve that, the Brave lance guy only attacking once before Shannan styles on him. A bard in Gen 2?! That doesn't happen! Reviving Lewyn with someone who isn't Claude?! BLASPHEMY!
Shattercoin Uh, the guy who revived Lewyn is Forseti. You know, one of the 12 GODS of Jugdral? I'm pretty sure that he can revive people. And before you say anything about Valkyria Staffs availability, I think since they gave them the holy weapons in the first place, I am pretty sure they can override its Major blood mechanic, and wield them at any given situation.
That was just to show how Lewyn isn't actually himself anymore after Belhalla, if not for Forseti's intervention.. things would've turned out differently..

Ok what the heck!? I finished this game last week I didn’t know about this!!! I tried watching the opening after I beat it and I got the same one again. Should’ve been more patient lol…this is such cool attention to detail tho! The part with Lewyn/Manfroy/Forseti was cool, and everything with Arvis, Deirdre, Sigurd, Julia, Julius, etc.
These scenarios are wild. It makes me wish more entries did something as cool for the background of the main theme. I mean, class bases and animations and stuff are cool, but this is way better.

I like you get to see the "unused" emblems you don't encounter in normal play, such as pre-Lopt Barhara (the light one) and, I *think* Leonstar. You can see it if you hack to let NPC animations stay on during chapter 5 (when Quan's units are getting slaughtered), but I don't think in the base game. Speaking of the emblems, why does the loptous one look like the HRE imperial eagle?
This comment is years old, so my apologies, but Grannvale has a few superficial similarities to the HRE. Namely that the armies of each duchy has german names, like Chalphy's army is called the grünenrotter. Green Knights. The same scheme holes for the other duchies as well. "X-Color Knights." Further, the incredibly powerful duchies relative to the standing army of the king is not totally unlike the powerful electors of the HRE. That being said, it's as I said, very superficial.

Would be interesting to see more FE4 videos about what ifs in the chapter themselves, I always wondered what would happen if you attacked some bosses before the others since there is a suggested order of events in the dialogues of scripted events.
Give me a few examples and I'll think about it
Things you wouldn't try on a first playtrough for example trying to take on Anphony first in chapter 2
How about killing sandima before getting deirdre in chapter one or killinv chagall before eldigan or capturing langobolt's castle before talking to byron

Although really hard to dupicate, it is possible for Quan and Ethlyn to survive that ambush if they dodge enough times and land their hits, problem is that they can end up soft locking the level if they capture that one castle in the desert.

The best assumption I can make is that Lewyn was worn down BEFORE facing Manfroy due to his pre-damaged condition and the stats shown he would have straight up wiped the floor with him using Forset otherwise. Also RNG hates him because he got nuked by a 23% hit.
Or perhaps it was the will of Forseti. We all know that Lewyn was too much of a playboy to be an effective mentor to Seliph.
@@FoieGras I don't think people are willing to give Lewyn more credit, he likely acted that way in order to give off that air so people like his uncle's would underestimate him. A runaway prince like him would've had more hidden under the surface that most people would've simply dismissed given his carefree personality. After all, he didn't believe he himself could be a capable ruler to his people. Despite this however.. I do remember him scolding Sigurd over his campaign. Lewyn likely would've done away with most of his easygoing attitude if he hadn't confronted Manfroy. That way he would've been able to advise as well as fight alongside Seliph and the others in their time..

Valkyrie Staff only works on those that aren't fated to die yet. Sigurd was fated to die there at Belhalla, so no matter what, the Valkyrie Staff cannot bring him back. This is the same for the Aum Staff of Archanea. Only able to bring back those not fated to die. Has to do with Quintessence most likely, since Claud mentions it in his conversation with Tailtiu in Chapter 3.

This is the best (and worst cuz there is no Trade function) Fire Emblem game. We need a remake.
I'd argue the trade function is not that integral to the game being fun, but I'd like gen two to be more fluid with classes and skills, not like three houses mind you, but say if Lachesis was paired with Azelle, Nanna and Diarmuid would be able to use fire magic at c rank since troubadours and free knights don't get ranks in fire tomes but the minor fjalar blood is still there to give that rank. Also if Sol and Luna weren't locked to strictly footlocker swordfighters. I understand not giving it Febail since Yewfelle makes him one of the hardest hitting physical units in the game, but if they can use a sword let them use it.

Even kaga knew johalvier was the overall better choice because of him getting bows upon promotion, second gen has far more fliers and lance units, canto matters a lot less in those fights same applies to overall movement since its a flying ambush, not to mention the warp staff, brave bow or killer bow with his strength he's a good candidate for the pursuit ring not to mention great base speed and defense via minor neir holy blood johan Will never be lex, johalvier is the Better lover for larcei easily, better 2 range same 1 to 2 range access in the hand axe and he gets the brave axe as well, movement junkies wouldn't understand his greatness and utility for his gen specifically, even in first gen he would be devastating, he,azel,artur and ethyln are some of those good old beeline to promotion units. Best pick out of the brothers hands Down.

he is one of the dragons so maybe all dragons can use it as they made these weapons themselves for humans or he and blagi are the same dragon tribe so maybe they share some magic traits

Who the fuck beat this game 10 times. I loved my first play through, but it was probably 200 hours long (unlike you cheaters I play games 100% blind at first), and I can't imagine spending 10 times that much when 50% of the gameplay is just moving your units across the damn giant map.

Well, when nintendo refuses to translate the game the fans will have to do that themselves. Neither I nor you could do it alone so I don't judge them, i imagine that it must take a lot to translate a game like this, even if it is somewhat wrong I still appreciate it, and I actually like some names more than the originals tbh.
The patch was going by what FE Awakening chose for the names, some of which have since become outdated.
