Over the last 2 years, I've been able to dramatically change my financial situation all thanks to KZhead. I went from broke and over $30,000 in credit card debt to now being credit card debt free and in a financially strong place. So today, I want to talk about money mindset, how I broke through limiting beliefs, my strategy for paying off credit card debt fast, and how I was able to change my relationship with money!

  • I think it's important to recognize that for people with salaried jobs they aren't just going to magically make 3x their regular income in 1 month to pay those credit cards off. This is an amazing story but not super relatable to those who don't have that much control over their income.

    • But it is - salaried employees need to diversify their income streams. I'm a salaried manager and have 3 side hustle that take minimal time (I do a little guest speaking, I also do trade stocks and cryptocurrencies, and I also breed a few select animals as I am in farming area). All of which brings a decent side income. I'm also in the process of trying to start two small businesses. It's possible - you just have to make time for you.

    • I had a full time corporate job when I started my dog training side business now my full time business. I started assisting puppy classes to pay off debt and ended up loving it!

    • I run my own business and did a serious expense cut back one year to try to help with debt. I made the most money I had ever that year and did everything "right". I got absolutely nailed to the wall during tax time due to lack of write offs and the government took way more from me lol. Life really isn't straight forward.

  • Yes!!! Rewriting that Scarcity Mindset! My mind has been so wired to believe I’m broke that I thought I was broke even when I wasn’t and it then unintentionally self sabotaging to make my reality align with my thoughts... - Ive had this belief that no matter how much I’ll make I won’t have enough because then I’ll have more expenses, so I’m mindful of avoiding lifestyle inflation by focusing on what my essential income is, + a little more and that I can thrive at this point and anything more is extra and that I can obtain it and nurture it.

  • Such great points here, especially related to money mindset. In Eastern (and in Western) Europe, we don’t have this habit of having debts, because people here hate credits and prefer to pay/be paid 100% of the price. But the mindset “you have to work real hard”, “we can’t afford this”, “save money by putting it under your pillow”, is there. It took me DECADES to overcome my poor mindset. I’m really hoping I’m on the right path now 😺

  • This was a great video Cathrin! I couldn’t agree more that creating healthy money habits starts with your mindset and beliefs. For a long time I was afraid to look at my bank account and I noticed the avoidance just made that fear greater. Now I make it a habit to check it regularly and if I see something I don’t like, instead of feeling upset I think “great, what’s one small thing I can do to move things in the right direction”

  • I've gotten in and out of (credit and medical) debt a couple of times. I have experienced all of those feelings you described in this video. Being broke makes you feel it. Changing how you look at money makes it enjoyable. You don't have to ball, but knowing that I don't owe anyone money or not be guilty buying something nice is a great feeling.

  • Thank you so much for sharing your story with debt. It’s such a taboo thing to talk about but hearing this makes it feel more attainable. I’m aiming to wipe out $20k (mostly loans) in debt within the next two years, and if you were able to wipe out more than that in less time, I’m confident I’ll hit that goal way sooner than I expected

  • This was so helpful. I have the you are a bad ass books. But still haven't got round to reading this one. But I will definitely try all the other tips that you recommend. Credit card debt isn't fun. But I'm working on that mindset and manifesting my dream house and will take a trip to the area. 🤞🤞
