In this hybrid woodturning video, I will recycle some rather expensive Australian mallee burl off cuts pieces to create a large hybrid epoxy resin wooden bowl using my Axminster trade lathe. When I cut down bigger burls for my projects, I keep the off cuts for projects like this. Sanded to 3000 grit then several layers of clear gloss lacquer was applied to achieve high glos premium finish.

What a magnificent bowl - perfect use of the off cuts - really stunning! 👀🥇👍
Thank you so much 😀
Absolutely stunning piece. On a side note I watch woodturning with my seven year old daughter...near the end of this video she said "is this David?" I said yes and she said "oh good we get to see him put the little metal badge in" ❤
A very beautiful bowl David. Great use of off cuts.
Thank you so much Jack😀
I knew I was going to like it when you mixed up the blue resin! That is a bowl I would buy! Set it on a platter with a bright LED light underneath it!!!
Beautiful. Love how the blue sets off the wood. 😀
Exactly what I was going to say, almost word for word, lol. Now I will just agree with you instead.
@@mdeysenroth Two great minds think alike. 🤣
Thank you so much 😀
Thank you 🙂
Now you're just showing off! Kidding. Everytime you amaze me with your creations. You should have a note with your videos, of long each piece takes. Kudos sir!!
I just like the way its half way there before you start, saving lots of waste 👏👏👍👍
Thank you so much 😀 Absolutely, save loads of material and also time
That is a beautiful bowl.... I love watching your videos 😍😍 thank you 😊
Thank you so much 😀
Usually I'm not a big fan of the resin bowls but this one is quite nice.👍👌
Another beautiful project, I love the blue
Stunning!!
Beautiful bowl....wow.
Love this piece!
niezwykły pomysł, gratuluję!
David you are a masterwoodturner and a mastercrafter, I like the fact that you used cut offs and the blue resin they look really nice together. The bowl is magnificent and unique well done you always amaze me with your work. Cant wait for another video the finish on the bowl really makes it shine. Take care and have a Merry Christmas Amanda xx
Beautiful work
Fantastic Bowl.
Very nice a great design and use of small pieces of wood to creat a very great design
Outstanding way to recycle. Your work is very inspirational.
Thank you so much 😀 Much appreciated

Nice work dude, It becam a work of art 👍👍
That was chillaxing
Awesome! Like a bowl of croutons!
I love this products. combo color and wood :D
Realy nice bowl from left overs. I realy like it!
Thank you 🙂
Very nice❤❤
Groovy!!!
Thanks 👍
Woodturning is 99% turning good wood into tiny chips. It is by necessity wasting wood. I will give you points on using the inner bowl to reduce the loss, though. I have seen too many youtubers fill a flat bottom bucket with material, then shave away the outside and inside. Looks great!
Thank you 🙂
Well done
Jaykee the Wolf: ok,now do this without power tools or resin! Luis: "they are nothing without that resin."
367th like and that is a lovely bowl. So interesting, not least because I use glue blocks, Vista resin and DeWalt drills and drivers. And I’ve got bags and boxes full of offcuts 🌞
MAESTRO.
NICE - that blue is my birthstone color 👩🏻🏫👏🏻🥰‼️
Thank you so much 😀 Much appreciated
@@DavidsWoodturning … You’re welcome 😊!
Wow
Nice project! What finish did you use on this bowl?
Beautiful bowl started from a great idea. Two questions: 1 how did you cure the epoxy (vacuum, pressure, natural) 2 how do you keep bubbles out. I looked like there were bubbles in the resin.
Thank you 🙂 It cures under pressure. Rarely any bubbles
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Next show us what you do with the scraps from saving the scraps. 😁
You don’t have to wait long :)have a similar coming soon ;)
👍👍👍👍👍👍
Thank you 🙂
2:20 why did you remove that dude!?
Too sharp edges, plus customer wanted curved edges
@@DavidsWoodturning oh I thought you were making it for yourself lol

Probably a good video. Got tired of too many ads.
If only they could invent a way to scroll towards the end of the video. Hopefully someday…
Weird. I didn’t get even one.
That's really nice. Would look lovely with some blue and white dry flower heads sat in it.💙🤍💙🤍
Sounds like a cool idea, Thank you 🙂
