    • Yes I immediately had to think of that too. While Angie and Roger are the GS champions they don't have gold in singles, "only" silver and Belinda and Sascha have no GS but now olympic gold.

  • It's incredible this was an "exhibition". I was on the edge of my seat the entire time. Look at that great crowd. Hopman Cup had such good will and such a fun way to start the season. Miss it.

  • You can see here two types of men - Roger being a gentlemen, believing in Belinda and literally letting her play and win, and Zverev - reaching for every single ball, ignoring Angie, a grand slam winner and normally, ending up with a loss.

    • It's all about being crafty when it comes to mixed doubles. Not about power, not about pace etc. Aaand Angie is a three time grand slam champion.

    • I think it's noteworthy to mention the Germans' dejected disposition when they miss a point. Their body language. Coaches spend a lot of time emphasizing to their students the importance of shaking off bad shots and forging ahead. Naturally much easier said than done but in doubles it's very common to see players uplifting their partners especially after lost points. I thought it was noticeably different with Zverev/Kerber. Or was it just me?

  • I was there watching live tennis in Perth. Its one of the most enjoyble tennis matches ive ever watched. It was even better watching it again on tv with the ups and downs in the match. In the end it was down to a single last point to determine the champion and the Swiss had it. Thanks to all the 4 players for making the match so enjoyable. That was the last match of the Hopman Cup

  • Even aside from those great points, that was also a great return performance from Kerber against Federer. She got aced just once, made every other return and made Federer play low volleys off most second serves. No wonder Serena had problems with her.

    • I also thought he wasn't playing very fluid as a team. I saw at least 2 points where he just "commanded" the ball. Kerber was clearly put off as she wasn't even bothered to switch sides. She was like, "here do it all yourself" which he thought he could do. He's not a natural doubles player and especially not mixed as his ego got in the way of good doubles play.

  • Roger is a normal guy, encouraging his teammate, showing leadership. Maybe it's different with Zverev because Kerber is older and more experienced than him, but he doesn't seem to be great at giving her confidence and positivity.
