  • Even though brook won a world title I always felt he under achieved. Such a good fighter. A bit unlucky, i remember he was supposed to fight Alexander for the IBF and fight fell through 3 times with injuries cost him a year if his carear, pulled out of Diego chavez fight injured, then got stabbed after the Porter win and back to back orbital bone breaks and his carear fizzled out. Hope he beats khan and has an Indian summer to his career and forfills his potential.

  • Commentators were way off with their analysis of the fight. Brook won this fight 116-112. Porter was agressive but very ineffective...Brook landed the way cleaner shots. Early in the fight Porter wasnt dominating at all, he was smothering his own work and ate straight lefts and Rights from Brook. Brook won rounds 1,2,3,5,7,8,9,11 Porter won Rounds 4,6,10,12

    • LRchigga Can't argue with that, only thing I disagree with is the first half of the fight, I agree in part, but Porter, while making it an ugly fight, not doing a lot of good work himself, was disallowing Brook from working, and I think he did some very good work to the body, used the jab, it was very close in the first half, Brook hurt a tiring Porter with an uppercut in round 7, took over the fight in the next couple, Porter rallied in the the tenth, and when it may have been in the balance, the better technical fighter was able to edge in front in the championship rounds.

    • Some great fights happen when a fighter is not in their young years. For example, look at Bernard Hopkins age 41 against the younger Antonio Tarver. Hopkins was not still in his prime physically, but he had grown into a greatly skilled defensive fighter from experience. So he aged slower physically than most other fighters. Roy Jones greatness was seen in his younger years and when he lost that physical edge he was obviously not as great. Crawford's strengths rely on speed and reflexes but we don't know when exactly he will start to diminish, but it may possibly be very soon. Errol seems to have a few good years left if he doesn't get hurt.

I wouldn't say so, was it a draw? That's a bit of a push I think for Porter, no I think Brook clearly won, by a couple, maybe 3 or 4 points. This was the highlight of Brook's career, without any doubt, it was by far his best victory, it was a shame the only bib fights he had after this were the two fights he lost, through no fault of his own, much of his prime time was wasted fighting bums. Shawn Porter is one of my favourite fighters, in this fight, he came up against a counter puncher who was fresh enough, motivated enough, smart enough to negate his quite unorthodox tactics. Porter is relentless, he is one of the physically fittest athletes in the sport, he can fight for America, he's fast, he uses the jab, he isn't a plodder, he covers the canvas very fast, but he can't box so well on the back foot, he isn't a counter puncher, and he isn't actually a particularly big puncher either, so any top level fighter has a strong chance of beating him, but he is underestimated, and he doesn't get enough credit for all his great wins, Alexander, Malignaggi, Berto, Granados, and best of all Broner.

  • This is the problem with some of these commentators, they don't understand boxing at a technical level so they don't understand what they're watching. Brook was setting traps for Porter all night long, just watch his footwork. Whenever he walks back he sees Porter steps in a straight line forward following. So he just feints the step back, sits on his shot and Porter steps right into it. Also tries to tie up Porter on the inside to limit his game. The gameplan was simple, control the distances, keep it at range and counter and pick apart Porter. Porter on the other hand tries to sell to the judges that he's dominating a fight by just being high energy and rushing in. Getting some lunging overhands in and bodywork on the ropes. Porter wants his opponent to try and 'war' with him, because he doesn't get shown up technically. Brook never gives him that. Good thing the judges could actually see the real fight going on in there. Brook's footwork and understanding of lines was well beyond Porter here. Was never in trouble despite what the commentators would make you believe. Ofc against Porter it's going to get scrappy at times, that the same with everyone who fights him.

These did NOTHING to prepare Kell for stiffer challenges. Sure he earned decent money. But I believe he could have been more robust in going after quality fighters and not end up having to over risk his game by taking in GGG then Spence Jr. Just didn't roll the dice at the RIGHT time career wise for me. Which is why dudes like Porter, despite losing his belt here and being a World Class Marciano style bruiser, not boxer, can get opportunity after opportunity in the Welter division and Kell is left still chasing after the tantalizingly close but never catchable bone named Amir Khan!

  • The thing with Brook is he NEVER learned an inside game! He has a Classic English stand up style, that when he is allowed to use his bread and butter punch - The JAB, he looks fantastic. He has a harpoon of a jab. And while he was able to use it sporadically here, he got backed up a lot. Porter though can make ANYBODY look bad. He is a buzzsaw that is immensely strong, but is extremely crude.

  • What a waste of a career, bulking up to fight Golovkin, sustaining the eye injury then the drain of dropping to fight Spence straight after ruined it for him.

    @roddi733@roddi7332 жыл бұрын
    • 100% the golovkin fight ruined him he had no business in there with him jumping 2 weight classes. That then had a knock on effect for the Spence fight , but credit to him fighting two potential HoF and p4p fighters back to back, he feared no one.

  • A mans got to know his limitations. Brook is a warrior but GGG was a leap too far. His ego got the best of him. He should have never fought GGG. It is very sad what has happened to Brook since. I think he would have won the fight with Errol Spence or at least been very close fight if not for the damaged sustained in GGG fight. The sad thing he could been a great ambassador and champion at this weight for a long time, he had it all, and showed how good he was against Porter one of the best at this weight but through it all away. The fight with Crawford he was just a shell of him former self. I Wish Brook well in the Amir fight.

  • Eddie Hearn messed Kell Brook career what a talent gone to waste. He chased Khan when he should have been chasing Thurman Pacquio Mayweather. Always rated Kell top fighter shame he never reached his full potential. I think Kell would have beaten Liam Smith and won a title at 154. I think he would have beaten Thurman and Danny Garcia as well.
