    • I think there's a lot of hostility towards Biden in the hearts of men, hostility that the dog senses well. When one hates the owner, they tend to hate the dog, too.

    • Just because people work for Biden doesn't mean they like or respect him. Dogs sense things people don't.

    • I think the Bidens dog picks up on their stress level, and it stresses him,and I also think that he senses vulnerability and feels he needs to protect them. He's a young dog and hasn't had much training. It's nothing that a good trainer like Tom Davis or this guy couldn't quickly correct. He's also a gorgeous gsd.

    • You can do this yourself with the courses at DIYK9.com. If nothing else, dip your toe into the training with "The Perfect Walk" which is part of the $25 monthly membership. You can cancel anytime, and for this knowledge you'll have for the rest of your life and the increase in the quality of your relationship with your dog is well worth the $25. It's a 5 hour course with a Master dog trainer that trains YOU how to train your dog to walk with manners on a loose leash. It also covers something people do not always think about - dog phycology on a walk. If you understand the walk from a dogs point of view, everything else is so much easier. With what you learn in this course, you can also easily adapt this to your day to day obedience training. My daughter took this course and applied this to her dog walking business.

  • Ive used some of the methods shown in your videos but i am struggling my my GSD. Super reactive to other dogs. Never any reaction to people. Have tried a slip. Halti. Prong. E collar. He can continue his barking/lunging through all of them even with heavy corrections. I assume im just adding to his fear or anxiety with the corrections so im thinking about taking him to an area near a dog park and whenever he is settled i move him closer to the park until i get all the way near the dogs entering/leaving (will never take him inside, i dont trust the other dogs). Background info: i sent him to a training place that had lots of dogs. They said when they would take him into the open play area with other dogs he would react for about 15 minutes non stop before calming. Then when they would let him off leash he wouldnt reapect other dogs personal space and wpuld dive into all of them head first. He had no bad experiences. I took him home at 10.weeks. he had been with his siblings with no issues. Ge was then with my dog and cat with no issues. There was no other dogs in the vet at that stage so i didnt notice if there was any reactivity then. The next time i took him to his vaccine (maybe 16wks?) He encountered a dog other than ny other dog for the first time while in my care. Instantly lunged and went into a barking frenzy. Its been like that ever since. Sometimes he can whine with no real barking when we go past houses with dogs barking from a distance but if they are behind a close fence or he sees them out in the open its on. Any suggestions from anyone with experiences similar would be great. Thanks.

If he knows you have food in hand, he can’t focus on anything except the food! It’s frustrating! Any ideas?

    • @@jaybee4 Garrett's got a great (actually two, one's membership) group on Facebook. The feedback there is extremely helpful. While I have the benefit of a local German Shepherd Club (oldest and largest in US) for helping to train my own GSDs... I volunteered to be a Mod for Garrett when I saw the trolls giving him unjust and unqualified grief. And while I've had dogs all my life (now 62), I've learned some really good things from Garrett. I can't share one of the most valuable here because it's his copyrighted content, but he's the real deal and even and old dog like me is learning tricks from him a slightly younger pup. ;)

Alert me and I'll do the rest. I like to train as d have well behaved dogs, with young kids.... what to pick? I need to borrow an adult dog and find a pup I can train how I want.
