Dirty Boxing refers to the ability to grab, hit and generally be both horrible and unorthodox whilst striking on the inside. This is something that is ever present in Panantukan and the Filipino Martial Arts.

You see all this type of stuff in the Batman a LOT actually!

  • Looks great, and congrats to anyone training in this discipline for guidance, structure and learning self defence. Imo, I’d love to learn FDB, but I can’t commit to a martial art if it’s not tested in a professional way against another martial art, one which has been thoroughly scrutinised and proven to work: Muay Thai Boxing, Western boxing, BJJ, Judo, Kickboxing, Wrestling, Sambo, etc…

  • As of this year I apparently have 40 yrs in the martial arts. (Lol. I’m old 😂) Doesn’t mean I’m special or better. Means I’ve walked ahead of you. First started learning FMA in 1981. I’m seeing your trap muscles bunch up on the standing trap. Think about making the trap with structure not your size and strength. You point your elbow where you want it. Often down on that trap. It engages whole set of muscles I can see you aren’t currently using. Allows the technique to work when you’re an old fart like me. Aikido people would make some fluffy “KI explanation” for what I’m trying to share. It’s just engaging your whole structure in what your doing. Play around with it. Find someone bigger and stronger to play with. You’ll find you have to use what I’m saying to have the technique work. Best of luck in your dirty boxing.

    • If they were of any use they would be widely used. This quarter speed exhibition technique is pretty useless against a skilled opponent.

    • @@marcuscopley4467 I dunno man that Arm catch seems fairly high percentage. Plus there are tons of great muay Thai moves and even some boxing moves that would work great for mma that aren't widely used. I'm gonna try and hit the arm catch in sparring next time.

    • Probably because generally anything that qualifies as 'boxing' and not kickboxing focuses on upper body striking and decent to highly advanced footwork especially considering the influence and evolution of modern western boxing. The difference is that being dirty isn't just about punching only like in a western boxing competition. Dirty boxing is generally self defence oriented and so with the exception of low kicks kicking isn't too important. Alot of historians to the best of my knowledge claim that western boxing evolved from bare-knuckle boxing in which at one point in time involved a bit of low kicking and limited wrestling. Considering that 'boxing' doesn't have to be defined as punching only.

  • Haha that arm grab if not perfectly executed would result in a devastating left hook from a moderately skilled boxer. The technique would be great for a fight against a drunk 70 year old who had a bad hip.
