@@Fatlax73 it's pretty easy for me to understand, the rules for the language are similar to English, not to mention like the other so-called "Romance" languages such as Italian, French, Portuguese and Romanian it's a language evolved from latin, and since English borrows a number of words from original Latin, you can understand a few things.
@@caiuscosades1791 English borrows alot of words from Norman French, which is derived from standard Vulgar Latin. Perhaps it's easier for you to pick up on Latin-derived words in Spanish is because the pronunciations are not as complicated and expressive compared to other modern Romance languages.

Plot Twist: This was my illegal illegal alien alien infiltration operation, and he was a plant to protect the two high dollar clients further up the line. Man, when you think about something too much, y'know? Be a great callback in a future movie, though.
Kay definitely enjoyed his little joke about the border patrol "protecting us from the dangerous aliens", to be sure.
I think that’s the joke and another reason why this movie is perfect.
Love how Mikey's human head doesn't move or emote outside of a smile, even the nod looks stilted. LIKE A PUPPET. A good touch.
The alien actors in this movie do such a good job of selling the "meat suit" aspect of it. Cockroach boy later on also has that creepy shambling going on.

Everyone went on about Will Smith in this movie, but Tommy Lee Jones is the guy who makes the whole thing work. His performance is perfect.

Never was a fan of Smith, I thought a lot of the movies he appeared in would be better with a different actor. Same goes for Tom Cruise, grossly over-rated.

@@andromedabloom3277 I always figured that the alien, being a criminal ("When did they let you out of jail?") was paranoid at being "set up" or something. Here he was, busted for violating treaties, but overall, he'd likely be deported from Earth and that'd be that, a figurative slap on the wrist, but when he saw the human see him, he freaked out, thinking his arrest was just a distraction from somebody coming to kill him or something. Just a theory I came up with while trying to figure out why he went berserk lol
@@andromedabloom3277I always assumed Mikey knew he was going back to jail so taking out the human that got him caught was a chance he couldn’t pass up. The penalty for killing a MiB agent, however, is likely far steeper which is why he left them alone.

As someone mentioned earlier, Tommy is from Texas and yes, he grew up with kids speaking Spanish. There's an interview of him with BBC Movies and he confirms that.

I will always love this movie. And Tommy Lee Jones' Spanish was almost flawless, aside a small accent, but his fluidity was as if he does speak the language as a 2nd language and with regularity. I wouldn't be surprised if he does, there are many Hollywood actors and actresses that do speak Spanish and are not Hispanic.

The thing that always got me about this scene; MiB are supposed to be masters of covertness and coverups. But neither of these two thought these INS agents aren't going to think it's incredibly suspicious to have two guys take a random guy out into the desert alone in the middle of the night and investigate? I mean, I know they have nueralizers but they'd probably have to use them a lot less if they just used a little common sense.

So the whole time he was being yelled at to pull his weapon... as he messed with it his partner continued to yell...only after a bunch of yelling about how urgent the situation was did he pull out his gun and shoot... kinda seems like he wanted him to retire
He'd worked with him for a while, maybe he knew he wanted to quit, in the scene after when he admits he wants to retire, maybe he's just confirming what K already knew.

To be fair that old agent has seen better days and I think it was the time for him to retire.. he looks like 150 yrs old 😅
When you work with someone a long time in that field, you expect them to play right off of you as you do off of them. Think of how K and J bounced off each other even in the third movie when time travel meant they hadn't really met yet, they acted in total sync. K absolutely knew his partner would get the shot off, until it was clear he wouldn't and he had no choice. Basically, it was pure trust.
I believe he had less lethal weapon than K probably it would have made the alien unconscious for a while. K had to use his killing or more lethal weapon when it was too late.
I never understood until recently that Mikey is an illegal (outer space) alien hiding among illegal (immigrant) aliens.

No idea. Maybe he knew he was fucked, and was pissed at the cop for putting him in this situation? Or, maybe he was looking for an opportunity to make a run for it and he was gonna go for the border patrol vehicle? Who knows... Maybe the simple answer is that the writers wanted to set the tone for the movie and didn't put too much thought into this scene. The rest of the movie would have been fine without it. Sure, when the old guy talks about retiring it mirrors the scene later on when K has the same conversation with J, but imho the concept of getting old and retiring doesn't need to be established by a throwaway character ahead of time...

Tommy Lee Jones' spanish is almost perfect, although he speaks it with a very deeply mexican accent. I'm native of spanish (from Spain, to be exact) and could understand him every sentences.

Imagine being able to own a pair of MIB standard-issue de-atomizer pistols that can deliver enough energy to vaporize a living creature. With that type of technology, it would amazing and terrifying at the same time.

Even the border patrol knows there are no Division 6 but they don't dare to stop them since who knows they are indeed from the secret division
Well is it really worth it to stop them? Sure they don't believe there is a Division 6 but what if they're wrong? You wouldn't want to be the one to mess up a special investigation into certain important suspects or something. If these people are lying you can arrest them for impersonating federal agents after they're done with whatever they're doing in the desert. Their car is sitting there, they're coming back. The second they thought there was something going on they were there with their guns ready. They even sent a guy to keep an eye on what was going on.
