Follow BD athlete Sam Elias and Olympian, comp crusher, and powerhouse climber Colin Duffy as they rebolt and equip the iconic American Fork testpiece Ice Cream (5.14c).
“There’s a caretaking that needs to happen now with old routes,” explains BD athlete Sam Elias. And that’s where this story begins. But what transpires in this four-part series by Sam and documentary filmmaker Mike Call goes deeper than the new bolts drilled into stone. Through the resurrection of classic, historic routes, a meaningful, impactful connection is made between old and new generations. This is RetroModern, a series breathing new life into the storied past and bright future of climbing.
Was fortunate enough to be there the weekend he went for Redpoint attempts and met Colin. Super nice guy!
Sam - I gotta say brother I am LOVING this series. It's dope and cool to see you bolting. I hate to sound like those helmet police bros but....please....for the love of God.....when you're bolting you HAVE to wear eye protection my man. You only have one pair of eyes and you can buy wraparound protection goggles for a few dollars at the mini mart. Especially when you're teaching these youth about bolting. All it takes is a small chip bouncing off the drill or hammer and into your eye.
Always loved going to American Fork. Such a great valley with so many great lines. And sorry Didier, you are now know as just Brooke and Shawn's dad but he was the original OG
Love living twenty minutes from here
sickkkkkk this got my psyched . Aint nothing like the old school
Fantastic episode my friend 🥾🥾
cool vid. thanks guys
AF was where I learned how to clip bolts! ❤
Frick yeah. Solid video. Sucks about Logan Utah's China wall. Both, Hell and CW are the OG to the Laboratori and Raco de la Finestra. And impressive Onsight on Cannibals direct.
Must have watched Burning from Masters of Stone a million times.
short pissed off routes! 90's style \m/\m/
Yo anyone have the Track ID 8 minutes into the video? That song is fire!
I don't think you can call Colin a 2x Olympian yet. He's earned his ticket, but I mean, we could all be hit by a meteor tomorrow.
I think more climbers understand land management issues related to crags than Sam gives us credit for, but hey that’s just my opinion
song at 8:00?
it's too bad people don't still wear sweet pants like Didier did
that doesn't look visually dumpy imo lmao
Wait until you jump on any route and pull holds off haha. But we love it.
@@kzlindsay1 so real haha
Love AF, but it is dumpy in person😂😂
Just stop bolting and climb Trad... simples! 🤘🏼
Lmao first 10 second, this dude sounds so entitled
I dislike the music....
