Lift + Cruise EVTOL And The Future Of Urban Aviation

All electric air taxi AutoFlight Prosperity I is a good example of Lift and Cruise design.
This configuration is easy to manufacture and maintain, and meets the highest safety requirements.
But it has drawback - idle propellers create additional drag during cruise flight.
However, Prosperity I may be the first aircraft to unlock the sky for mass transportation,
as Autoflight is a truly international company that creates collaborations all around the world.

  • All such down-thrusting is subject to wind and capsizing. Look up the Torquethopter & Stealthopter for VTOL that overcomes the wind problem.

  • Nice concept! It has every chance to surpass Jobi and Lilium due to cheapness

  • It looks like a hasty design mess (three different versions alternating between one ,three or no thrust props and 6 to ten lift propellers with some scabbed on overlapping others ( on stalks above the wing)like a complete afterthought - 70 dbA is LOUD (and might be more than this claim - the interference between the lift and thrust props in transition could raise it a lot ) The outboard 'bomb rack' prop pylons seem to have been dropped in the 'final' iteration -there is more than enough drag from the enormous fore/aft 'towel rack' tubes and the downwash blasting on the canard is dreadful for trim and control (there seems to be only a few knots between transition speed and cruise which is dangerous - pulling any G in this narrow range might result in 'departure' (even gust induced) The canard looks to have a split flap acting two ways -- strange but indicative of problems . Please don't inflict this thing on the world -end it at the prototype(s) stage .

    • Note . The 'strike outs' are unintentional -a third hand old computer with some problem (don't have your budget to afford to blow millions on half baked designs only to dump them and issue another 'final' iteration -they SHOULD have been shot down on paper . For example WHY is the wing sweptback ? If anything it should be forward swept to get the wing out of the way of the passengers - it is probably just 'apeing' the old VariEze or it's clones which HAD a real reason to be swept -likewise the varying canard sweep - looks a lot like styling alone but at least the 'frogmouth' look on the first (?) body was corrected -the swoopy curves and fillets, bulges etc have a "Batmobile" quality to them which is sadly also the case with other comically 'designed' (not in the engineering or aeronautical sense) evtol hopefuls (out of the 825 'contenders' on the VFS website this is far from the worst but way below what modern industrial design should yield . In the name of public taste and the aesthetic sensibilities of mankind I beg you to end it here - there is enough ugliness in the world already .

    • @@TopBoxy I guess I overlooked that this is not an Autoflight created site so amend the advice to kill this thing before it multiplies .... It may be too late, - these things develop a life of their own after devouring huge lumps of cash. I had not realized that frank Stephenson design was involved in this (Autoflight) 'project' although the same swept skid/fins as on the Lilium (also his ) are evident .. Just recently did a patent thread search and came across several of the Joby and Archer patents that are indicative of a scattergun undisciplined approach resulting in 'abominations' that lead to ANYTHING looking somewhat satisfactory being 'adopted' just to give the 1000 or so people on the payroll something to do - having huge and accumulating overheads is not conducive to considered design.
