Whoever edited this has to be a HUGE Duke fan, first 2:40 of this vid was all Duke highlights, no Gonzaga first half highlights and Duke was only up 3. It’s like the Zags weren’t even on the court the first half of the game lol.

Coach K did a great job. Keep attacking the paint and get Zags in foul troubles. And 2-2-1 full court pressure after the last time-out definitely broke Zags' plan. Chet still had brilliant defense, but was constrained by his slim body on offense edge. The good sign is that Paolo has exhibited his 3's and passing ability. This game is good for each other. both team and players.

This was a phenomenal, competitive game from the start to the end. Congrats to both teams.
People underestimated Banchero by calling Holmgren the better player. This game settled that debate, Paolo is top 2 and he's not number 2.
Nobody underestimated him, and one game proves nothing... I remember Camby making Duncan look bad. Holmgren is still the better prospect, but Banchero had a good game. Both good kids, the #1 draft pick is gonna be tough, but I don't think you go wrong either way.

When projections say that Gonzaga had above a 70% chance of winning and most sports anaylists take Holmgren over Paolo even though he has worse stats, it definitely has to do with underestimating Paolo. This game proves that Duke is better than Gonzaga. Fun fact, Gonzaga was undefeated last year until the championship game. Both great players, but Paolo is better and stats never lie.

Refs were atrocious. But Duke played great, and Zags cemented the best in the nation by hanging in till the end with an off night and early foul trouble.

@@marshallbaker996 your veterans showed up with Paolo out, showed up big, I don’t think him going out did zags favors, they came back with him on the court. Zags made big errors at the end. Duke os a top five team for sure, i wouldn’t be thrilled to face Duke in March, but Duke would be crazy to want a rematch. I wish Duke had a ranked team left to play. Zags will play a few more ranked, we will see how it looks. Duke a top five team squeaking a hard fought victory out of the zags that played three top five teams in just over a week isn’t a shock. Duke is solid, but i don’t think they’ll stay undefeated.
Duke winning it all this season for Coach K would truly be a riding off into the sunset moment.

Its not like duke played perfect. They missed 10 free throws and gave up 11 more rebounds. Neither team played their best and it was a very close game. And saying duke doesnt want to play them again is silly. They won. In that case gonzaga shouldnt want to play duke again.

Thought this was a final four game by the way the court was designed. Paolo Banchero is a multi-dimensional beast. He can hit 3's and he's a beast in the paint.Wish I can manipulate the draft and pencil him in at power forward for the Chicago Bulls.

ESPN skipping the worst call of the game by not showing the blown foul call on Williams’ clean block. Changed the game, but luckily not the outcome. These refs need a talking to. Still, great to see late March basketball in November! What a game.

The first Gonzaga highlight shown was at the beginning of the 2nd half and it was around a 3 point game the entire time.......

I don't know the game that others watched , but tonight I watched Gonzaga beat themselves !!! & had they been clicking better they would have won handily !!!
Duke's best player barely played the second half, and their guards shot horrendously like 4-24 or something. The only period Zags had the advantage was after Williams got called for his 3rd foul when it was such an obvious clean block and Duke had three non-starters in from Williams sitting for foul trouble and Moore and Banchero dealing with cramps. Both teams made a lot of mistakes. The difference was Duke's defense made Gonzaga play uncomfortable the entire game. Gonzaga didn't beat themselves Duke's defense is just better than any team they've played so far and undoubtable will be the best they play all year until maybe April.

I know I’ve been proven wrong in the past, with KD and Brandon Ingram, but does Holmgren’s lack of weight scare anybody else. I just see a lot of injuries in the future. I don’t see him being physical enough and getting pushed around in the NBA. I think I’d much rather have Chet with the 5th pick than the 1st 🤷🏻♂️

Wow!! We played so aggressive on both ends and attacked, then the second half we did the opposite and were passive/hesitant at times and Gonzaga was the aggressor.. lol. We came to play and Banchero was out for a long time in 2nd half and guys stepped up big time... Im so proud Dukie's but we have work to do and a long way togo.. dont take your foot off the pedal and get complacent..GOOD JOB!!!
Yeah first half refs took out Gonzaga bigs and it showed.

@@mike2687 it was clean to but it was more of a foul (initiated body contact out of position) than timme posting up, and the same as Chet’s hand doing a non interfering reach. Not nearly as bad as Chet pushed down and called for traveling, Look I only bring up the refs for the scrubs that do t realize this was two juggernauts down to the wire. Even with Gonzaga being off, and calls being thrown around randomly, they still were in it until the end. In a sport where a team never goes undefeated Gonzaga showed they are legit, and that’s why power rankings still kept them at #1
@@davidp4599 - you don't bring this up for the scrubs, you do this for you. Everybody knows these were two heavyweights and whining about the officiating takes away from it. As for Williams, that slight of contact is never called when the block is so clean and the offensive player is driving that hard. The Chet non-call was a fine play... watch it again and you'll see Chet's lanky right leg dangling behind himself gets tied up with Moore's legs and they both go down. Zags will say he was tripped and Duke fans will call it incidental. If you want to cry about anything, then cry that Nembhard decided to attempt a step-back three over Williams that led to that loose ball. Also, Chet was showing off his NBA flop readiness on the possession immediately following the Williams block (foul)... it's funny, go watch it again if you missed it the first time. The reality is the refs had a couple bad calls for each team--nothing so bad that tissues are required and the better team won despite what power rankings claims.
@@mike2687 i disagree that Duke is the better team, and so do the professionals. In college basketball losing a close game to a top five juggernaut team like Duke after winning two top five teams in just over a week isn’t a huge shock. But really we have to see how Duke (and Zags) do, though right now Duke doesn’t even have another ranked team to play. And disagree on your analysis of the foul calls, but I do agree that if Gonzaga hadn’t made uncharacteristic misses and mistakes (3 turnovers and 0-5 down the stretch) we wouldn’t be having this discussion. And that’s taking nothing from a strong Duke defense.
Mark Williams outplayed Chet Holmgren. Paolo Banchero outplayed Timme. Duke defense outplayed Gonzaga offense. That’s the best recipe I’ve seen all weekend.
I have long doubted and dismissed Gonzaga but I can’t anymore. Mark Few has implemented a motion offense and his players execute the screen and cutting to near perfection. Respect to the zags. I was thoroughly impressed. Zags are no joke. The pieces are there although I’m not sold on Chet, he’s just too gangly and fragile looking. In the first half he took the lead with times on the hardwood. All things considered if both teams play to their maximum potential Duke wins 9 out of 10 times. May we get spoiled a 2nd time with a later March meeting.
i agree with most of this other then duke wins 9 times out of 10 that's a joke.. so much skill and talent on both sides great coaches and it produced a 1 possession basketball game. duke shot 25 free throws to 11 for gonzaga as well...

As far as free throws Duke obviously made it a game plan to attack your interior defense and force your players to guard them straight up or foul. Clearly Gonzaga was not prepared for that. Truthfully speaking tue foul shot difference should have greater due to several questionable no calls as well as a bogus foul where Timme was blocked clean and another play where a goal temp was called on Duke that was a clean block. Gonzaga played a great game but given tue same teams and multiple games Duke dominates them. Then again that’s just my opinion.
I hope Paolo Banchero gets that Point Forward role in the NBA…. It’s crazy how he’s 6’10 or 6’11 doing all that and moves that fast… he’s gonna show Ben Simmons how it’s supposed to be done
