Well instead of wasting the whole Defense bar on a breaker he would use it more for wakeup attacks and roll escapes which caught sonic off guard.
That's exactly what I thought when watching it live. Like, obviously he's holding his defense bars for a reason, and that reason is most likely just because if he drops out of the combo, he's still in the corner anyway - with no resources. And Jacqui is excellent when it comes to playing the corner

SonicFox’s combos as Erron Black have always been nasty as fuck. And I’ve loved watching him destroy people since MKX. And after watching this, I’m not even disappointed. Scar definitely earned that win fairly. Nobody was playing cheaply or anything. It was an all around fair fight.
