Umpires are the only reason I watch baseball. I have posters of Angel Hernandez on my wall and trade umpire cards with my buddies while discussing the best player ejections of all time. I also like to flick myself in the nuts and drink moldy clam juice just to feel alive. Help me.

It's time for Robo umpires just to call balls and strikes accurately (they can still stand at the plate to call safe or out). The umpires all have different strike zone and confusing the hitter's.

Actually, vindictive umps will bury their profession, as Manfred is going to implement robo-umps w/o warning, & everyone (players, managers, media & fans) will be cheering. The other umps will wish they had spoken out against Hunter & Angel earlier, but it’s too late now. The days of human MLB umps are numbered.

This is how umps intentionally affect games and it needs to stop. Especially if its orchestrated by the league. This is what Tim Donoughy talked about with the NBA suggesting how a certain game needs to be reffed and from that he could predict who would win. When you kick a baseball manager out early, that definitely makes an impact on the game.
Absolutely. We can't have umps kicking anyone they want out of the game. Terrible for the game.

The umpire was Hunter Wendelstedt. His dad, Harry, ran the largest umpire school in Florida for many years. I went to school with Hunter in elementary and junior high school.
Guessing his was a female dog back then too. Probably tattled on kids for sht that he did

Wendenstottle, LOL! FYI he's the son of one of the best umpires of all time, and has been an umpire for more than 20 years. The umpire academy that the pro umpires go to is named after his father. I strongly considered going to the wendenstottle academy myself, but decided to stick to umpiring youth baseball.

Batter was hit by the previous pitch; ball landed on batter's foot. Meanwhile, line judge called the pitch a strike; batter was not allowed to take the base. That was why things were contentious so early. Boone was looking out for his batter going into the next pitch 5:22

I literally don't understand why players/managers actually leave when they're icked out in bs situations like this. If the ump is clearly wrong, and a player rightfully argues the call and gets thrown out, why not just stay in the dugout and be like, "nah I ain't leavin!"

This is a disgrace. Umpire union needs to go. It’s bad enough that you called that a strike, then you eject someone for saying, ”let’s go, homeplate.” Even if Boone did say that, it’s not ejection worthy. If you can’t recognize a managers voice from a fans voice, and are that easily offended, you have no business being a major league umpire let alone run an umpire school. Wendelstedt should be fined and suspended for this, but probably won’t because of union. If I or any other umpire pulled this stunt back in the 80s, we’d be physically attacked by manager and most likely fired since we didn’t have unions. Hudson also needs to be disciplined for joining in, defending Wendlestedt’s foolishness, for double teaming Boone, and for putting hands on Boone. I get that Boone has been annoying in past but he is definitely in the right here. If you hear the audio, Wendlestedt admits that it probably wasn’t Boone but he doesn’t care. Totally unprofessional considering that what was said wasn’t ejection worthy anyway. If the union doesn’t go then ejections need to be reviewable and reversible. There are plenty of microphones around to make that possible. If they can’t be reversed during game, then the fines and suspensions for the ejection should be transferred and imposed on the umpires. Neither will probably happen, but until umpires are again humbled and held accountable like we were in the past, we will continue to see ridiculous stuff like this.
Added context for anybody who is unfamiliar with baseball. The batter was hit by the pitch but he appeared to swing at it. The home plate umpire couldn’t decide if he swung, so he checked with the first base umpire who said no swing. This counts as a “hit by pitch” and the batter gets a free base. Aaron Boone (Yankees manager) was upset and asked the home plate umpire (Hunter Wendelstedt) what that was about. He told Boone to calm down and he did. Then the fan yells, and Wendelstedt thought it was Boone, so he ejected Boone. Checkout Jomboy Media for a full breakdown
