Baseball has an umpiring problem yet again

Monday afternoon game, Ump crew probably got into New York late from their Sunday assignment and Hunter was pretty grumpy to start the game. It’s not right but that’s why he had such a short wick.

Umpires nowadays absolutely suck, in all aspects of the game. Something has to be done. Same with refs in hocky and basketball. It's a big problem in my eyes. They have be accountable and suspended with all these wrong calls. Very aggravating.

Does this ump have a history/ongoing beef with Aaron Boone that this West Coast casual MLB fans doesn't know about? When Boone says he didn't say anything and it was a fan who said it, and Wendelstadt says "I don't care!," that's kind of a tell right there.

Umps like Hunter & Angel are giving MLB all the ammunition it needs to implement robo-umps. And when that happens, the players, managers, media & fans will all be celebrating.

I want to make a comment. I think the problem that Boone made was that he changed the lineup. Because when, Torres was batting first, I know that he wasn't doing nothing, but with Volpe in the 5th or 6th batting position. He was batting hits and homeruns and boost the other players. When Boone changed putting Volpe 1st, he is doing nothing, same for Torres in that 5th or 6th spot. I think that he needs to put the lineup back the way it was with Torres batting 1st or sit him down, because he needs to go. Also, put Volpe back in the 5th or 6th position like it was when the season started. Thank you, this is my opinion

The whole culture of umpires regularly ejecting people from games has to go. Unless someone is interfering with how the game is played, suck it up and keep it moving.

The problem is umpires are way too sensitive because they're getting called out for their bullshit calls. They reaped this as well by backing bad umpires.

When the CBA with the Umpires union expires, I hope that MLB does not renew their contract. The game can be officiated without them. Players may need to adjust by playing every batted ball as if it's in play, even if it turns out to be a foul ball. But MLB should figure out how to officiate the game by officials looking at video without slowing the game down.

Disciplinary action?

There was no excuse for Aaron Boone to be thrown out. There's video evidence proving that it was a fan, and there's proof Boone said nothing when he got thrown out. Hunter Wendelstedt needs to be suspended for a few games. But nothing will be done, Joe Torre is a joke when it comes to the umpires and accountability.

Not all, but some of these umps are like overzealous bouncers at clubs. They have this one part of their lives where they have a bit of power and they abuse the hell out of it.

I would be pissed off with Hunter too. That's messed up.

Lets set somethjng straight. The manager/head coach is responsible for all of the managers, coaches, and players. They have to control them. And yes, if the umpires opinion it was egregious enough, they can eject the player and/or head coach. Because ultimately in the rulebook the head coach/manager is in charge.

Wow, just a blatant lie by the ump. I actually used to be a pretty big baseball fan but they've destroyed the sport in the last 10 years. Between all these nonsense rules like the pitch clock and starting a runner on second in extra innings, and then on top of it having umpires with glass feelings now. It's the weirdest thing. I remember in the '70s and '80s where a manager or a player could basically get in a screaming match with an umpire over a call and would be allowed to say their peace but wouldn't get ejected unless they made physical contact with the umpire. Now they are the most fragile human beings on the face of the earth and will eject people over literally nothing. Someone needs to stop the reign of these evil umpires. They have gotten way out of control. It's almost as if they think people are buying tickets to see them, and not the teams play.
