Jim Rosvold, our Chief Photographer in the west had an opportunity to mount a GoPro on a ref's hemet during the women's game of the 2014 Hockey City Classic. This is video of Minnesota's 4-0 win over Minnesota State on Friday, January 19th at TCF Bank Stadium in Minneapolis, MN. We hope you enjoy this view of the game from the referee's perspective.
Special thanks to Greg Shepherd of the WCHA and his officiating crew: Leah Wrazidlo, Mike Diebold, Joseph Oberg and especially Krissy Langley who wore the camera.
Also thank you to Nate Kulenkamp for making sure the camera stated charged and mounted.
Reffing women's hockey is tough, it always progresses the same, third period they're tearing each other apart.
Noah Roller it's sarcasm
Haha there's like no one at that game.
Kwame Bradley yeah because women’s hockey isn’t AS BIG as regular/Male hockey
since when is body checking a penalty
For women's hockey apparently. Would never make it in the NHL.
It's always been a penalty in women's hockey.....even in the olympics.
Lumberjack1645 Body checking was actually legal in women's hockey (at least in the European leagues) until the first World Women's Championship in 1990. It was after that tournament that it became a penalty.
x11ponzikillxx it’s only for women’s hockey lol
She called boarding which is an illegal type of body check
usually helmet cams make me so dizzy but it's perfect for hockey
Hey there's that gopher from the commercial where the bear kept falling down on the ice. 4:24
I love right next to Duluth where the bulldogs play and its literally 12 minutes away and I wish the old wcha was still around
Jesus, there's more fans in arenas during covid than in this video
Minnesota!
I played football there
To everyone commenting saying this is boring. It is sometimes. Yes every hockey game can be! Girl are not aloud to body check cause girls have a way higher chance of getting a concussion then a man.
way easier game to ref tho i would prefer to ref them over u10 boys theyre relentless its honestly crazy i just get screamed at
To be honest this is probably the worst league I've seen. Not trying to be sexist.
SentryEchelon yea I mean I've seen women's D1 hockey and even the national teams and I could almost keep up with them
They simply aren't men. period. They never will be. I could care less if it's sexist. I coach female hockey..adult and squirt. I love it. But they are very very different as they were designed to be. Given that, you kind of have to change the way you view it.
Dale Smith bitch
damn i wonder how much money was lost putting on this game for 50 people.
No body checks?? No wonder it's so empty
_SeAn_ women have like a 50% more chance of a concussion then men that's why.
@@emmajean7385 Because women are not taught to hit and recieve hits, so when hits happen they are much morr likely to be dirty and/or recieved poorly.
GO GOPHERS
Women aren't allowed to body check?
+Bish There was body checking in the first World Championship in 1990, but after that, it became a penalty.
GNHL grandfather's hockey league 😅
LOL that is funny ever
I was wondering why there was no one at the game. Oh it's a women's league I see...
These are like migit girls playing
Fucking no one there
Body check isn't allowed? Geez no wonder why nobody watches women hockey
ikr
The Paradox yeah no checking in women's. Kind of sucks because you've got to call everything or they bitch
sick fan section
aaaw the little girls are soo cute!
+Windowshirt i was only a quarter through the video, i thought you were being sexist lol
Goldy is the best.
First reply on a Jens comment, not to brag
Theese guys are good
Wimen can't play not trying to be sexist
Learn to spell, first of all. Second; why are there two professional women's hockey leagues if they can't play? you say you're not trying to be sexist, but that comment is extremely sexist.
Then why can men play? Over half the teams lose money and spongebob beats the finals in ratings.
"You can mix the clause around in normal sentences, but not with the sentence exposition." Since you are correcting everyone's grammar, you should know that you don't use a comma in that sentence.
@@rickhaavisto9023 Commas are used before the word "but".
“You should put a comma before but only when but is connecting two independent clauses. ... When you don't have two independent clauses, leave the comma out .” -Grammarly.com www.grammarly.com/blog/comma-before-but/
I’m a woman and all for women’s rights but ice hokey should stay a MAN’S game, is so much more fun to watch and follow.
so what if it's more entertaining to watch men's league hockey? I am a female goaltender, and I agree that playing with the boys is a lot more intense, but we all have the time of our lives out there. to take that away from all the girls who love the game is selfish.
@@kelsey9874this is old. But nothing in this universe says sports need to be on the same level. Don't give a sht about substandard play. We can already watch the top teir players. Which are the men's.
