The Road to 100,000 Original Prusa 3D printers

2019 ж. 27 Мау.

Have you ever wondered where it all began? Why did I buy my first 3D printer? And how many tons of Haribo bears we shipped in total? :)
For the past 6 months, we’ve been working on a short documentary, mapping everything from my first Mendel to the current stage of the company. You’ll see a ton of things we’ve never shown before - from powering the entire building with a diesel generator when our farm blew the building’s fuses, to the complex testing machines we’ve come up with for QC.

    • Its been amazing to see Prusa 3D be created and expand so much in the last few years, congratulations, if i'm ever in Prague, I'll be sure to pop in. I got myself a clone i3 back in 2014/5 and learned a lot about 3d printing and fixing them, i've had a couple of friends ask me what printer they should get and I've never had any doubts when recommending the Original prusa i3 for the experience without the hassle, the ones that did get them were up and running in no time compared to me and are constantly showing me their amazing prints. When i can afford to get another 3d printer, I have no doubts whatsoever that it'll be one of yours :D

    • Wow, this was one of my top favorite videos of the year maybe -and that is something because it's competing with all the Wintergatan content. It is really interesting to hear the entire story and see the evolution from the beginning. Great job, everyone who worked on this.

    • Really cool to see the business grow Josef! As a small business owner and manufacturer myself it's really cool to see your dedication to quality. Using your own printers in the print farm rather than injection molding the parts is also a huge testament to their reliability... They are literally the backbone of the business, very cool!

    • @@gaellafond6367I think that I got interested in 3D printing about the same time that Josef got to tweak his first Mendel. A mother with 3 kids (bit later single mom) I never had the means to buy a Prusa, still don't, but a few months ago I had the opportunity (and money) to buy a Wanhao duplicator 12/230 (a Toyota), what a joy, not a Rolls Royce, but I'm getting some nice results. But the Prusa is still very high on my Wishlist, and I do love to watch Josef’s videos and tweak my duplicator. Stupendous job Josef (I watched you from the begining), waiting for your next adventure in 3D, keep printing.

I am just starting to plan and discover a first 3D printer and it is a little overwhelming, but knowing how a company grew and hearing you say thanks to everyone at the end of the video made me feel good about your company. • Surprisingly the general public still doesn’t know what a 3D printer is! I just bought my first Prusa and everyone I’ve discussed 3D printing with either has no idea or think I’m referring to something else. This industry will have a long life and I’m excited to finally be here!

  • A heart-felt congratulations, Josef! Your printers are my favorite - and mine is always running without issue - unfortunately I can only afford one, let alone 500+ :P. I was fortunate enough to meet you in 2014. I wish you all the best in the future! The dream is adding the Mk3S with a multi-material to the printing family (I guess making a family of 2). Cheers!

  • Josef, you run an amazing company. And while I don't own one of your printers...yet...I have watched this video countless times over the past year and a half just because it keeps popping up on my suggestions. And every time I get to your In Memory screen for Buddy, as one dog owner to another who has gone through the loss, I tear up. Thank you for all you do!
