Have you ever wondered where it all began? Why did I buy my first 3D printer? And how many tons of Haribo bears we shipped in total? :)
For the past 6 months, we’ve been working on a short documentary, mapping everything from my first Mendel to the current stage of the company. You’ll see a ton of things we’ve never shown before - from powering the entire building with a diesel generator when our farm blew the building’s fuses, to the complex testing machines we’ve come up with for QC.

did i just watched an almost 30 min long advertisement of a 3d printer company and enjoyed it ? D:
No, you watched the history of this awesome 3d printer company.
I'm not interested in 3d printing at all but I think I'm buying one of his.... He is just so down to earth and amazing.... What a great guy...
did i just watch*
Holy shit just realised it was 30 mins, didnt even notice:)
You watched the success story of a really cool, down to earth guy And how he drove an entire industry forward
Funfact #1 this video was in the works for many months and during that time we shipped over 30k more printers so we are at 130k now 🤷♂️🥳🎉🥰
Greetings and great, great congratulations from Poland :)
Its been amazing to see Prusa 3D be created and expand so much in the last few years, congratulations, if i'm ever in Prague, I'll be sure to pop in. I got myself a clone i3 back in 2014/5 and learned a lot about 3d printing and fixing them, i've had a couple of friends ask me what printer they should get and I've never had any doubts when recommending the Original prusa i3 for the experience without the hassle, the ones that did get them were up and running in no time compared to me and are constantly showing me their amazing prints. When i can afford to get another 3d printer, I have no doubts whatsoever that it'll be one of yours :D
Wow, this was one of my top favorite videos of the year maybe -and that is something because it's competing with all the Wintergatan content. It is really interesting to hear the entire story and see the evolution from the beginning. Great job, everyone who worked on this.
Really cool to see the business grow Josef! As a small business owner and manufacturer myself it's really cool to see your dedication to quality. Using your own printers in the print farm rather than injection molding the parts is also a huge testament to their reliability... They are literally the backbone of the business, very cool!
Funfact: You totally deserve all the success you've worked so hard for.
Dude, Josef is an absolute legend. What a story. Building up a company.
Literally building
*Printing up a company.

Two thumbs up for the fantastic video production!
I was very confused when I started looking for which printer I should buy. Then I saw your review of the MK2 "it's the God dam best printer on the market right now". I placed an order immediately after watching your video and I never regretted it
Your DIY Pruser MK2 Video inspired me to buy/build my first 3D Printer.. I also tried to rebuild it after your lessons but, what can i say, the Parts still waiting to get connected ;-) Thanks Josef,Thomas and many other 3DPrintTuber to open the World of 3D printing to the wide audience
@@gaellafond6367 I also bought a MK2 after watching Thomas video. I wonder how many Prusa sales he is responsible for?
P
@@gaellafond6367I think that I got interested in 3D printing about the same time that Josef got to tweak his first Mendel. A mother with 3 kids (bit later single mom) I never had the means to buy a Prusa, still don't, but a few months ago I had the opportunity (and money) to buy a Wanhao duplicator 12/230 (a Toyota), what a joy, not a Rolls Royce, but I'm getting some nice results. But the Prusa is still very high on my Wishlist, and I do love to watch Josef’s videos and tweak my duplicator. Stupendous job Josef (I watched you from the begining), waiting for your next adventure in 3D, keep printing.
Great documentary guys! Worth watching from the first to the last second. So awesome to see what you have achieved in the last years and how you help raise a generation of makers!
Thanks Josef Prusa for taking the time to show off your company’s beginnings to now. I am just starting to plan and discover a first 3D printer and it is a little overwhelming, but knowing how a company grew and hearing you say thanks to everyone at the end of the video made me feel good about your company. Hopefully by Christmas I will be attempting to assemble my 1st printer.
I was gonna buy a different printer from somewhere else... but I love what you guys are doing I’m placing my order tonight 🤝
Same here.
27:03 it is enough to make a grown man cry... no seriously, i pay respect for your dog and i condolence your loss. You josef seem like a genuinely nice person that everyone should show love to, all you do is give to the community which is very nice
Rest In Peace Buddy, you are immortalized on thousands of printers (and my laptop), you will not be forgotten
I think im going have to print out a buddy. In respect.

This video literally brought tears to my eyes! It is such a fantastic story, from the most humble beginnings to the giant that Prusa is today. I can only imagine how much fun it must be to work there! I am eagerly anticipating my first Prusa i3 MK3S+ in the next couple of weeks! Can't wait to get started...Thank you to you and your team for all that you do!

This was excellent! You’ve done great things and I’m so excited for the future of Prusa!

Fantastic story and wonderful video on it all!
the quality of this vid was just like the quality of everything else this company does. perfect
Still watching this video every now and then and hoping one day my company would be as successful! thank you Josef!
Great video! Really cool to see the growth. Thanks for putting this together.
they took science and APPLIED it
LOVE your channel Applied Science!
This KZhead recommendation are the best I've ever seen EVER! It's the first time I watched a video explaining with details about how a company grow from zero to success in such a beautiful explanatory. You are true hardworkers Josef!
Amazing Story!! Just joined the world of Prusa today when my printer arrived!!!
Every time I need motivation, I watch this video. Thank you Josef !
I feel special to have 1 of 100,000 of the worlds best printers!
funny thing, it can be 1 of 130,000 printers
The end broke my heart. Sorry to hear about buddy. Great video Josef. Thank you so much for all the extraordinary work you've done.
Same. A tear went down really quickly.
"We have no planned obsolesence for our products" - This is why I love you guys :)
This has to be one of the best documentaries I've ever seen
Josef you are amazing and inspiring. Thanks for creating a behind the scenes and for recognizing what a great team you have. I enjoy supporting your community/company. I am so sorry to hear about Buddy!
The beautiful Ironic part to all of this is, that we see you and your printers everywhere and Bre Pettis is nothing more than a bad memory to the Reprap community! LOVE IT!
I just spent 30 minutes watching an advert, enjoyed it and felt hugely motivated. Looks like they have had so much fun on their journey, but lots of hard work!
What hit me most it was that Buddy lived only 5 years. But I believe he was a part of the success and helped you in a times of sorrow a lot ...
I had a family member who had a pug that lived 16 human years which is 112 dog years

LOVE your comment about helping to create a generation of "Makers" which has been missing.
I didn't know that Seth Rogen was a 3D printing genius.
Right!? That was the first thing i thought when i saw him :)
Prusa changed my life, I have several Prusas now and can print and sell my classic ocean liner ships. You guys are changing the world. Thank you Josef Prusa and all the team.
You are raising a generation of makers, who like to fix things rather than throw them away. I wish you the best Prusa. I will pay a visit whenever I came to Czech. Greetings to you all from Toronto Canada ✌🏻♥️
I'm sold. I've been on the fence between a few different companies for my first printer. Prusa gets my vote after watching this. This the kind of company & community I want to support.
So many companies should look at this video and learn how it should be done! Keep it up guys!
I still have my prusa mendel from 2011, just added a bltouch probe.. Love the story and the fact that your approach is viable in our world is a bright light in a world where most news otherwise speak only about the dark sides of humanity. Cheers!
This company has already reached Legendary status 🙌. Keep the great work up 👍
I'm so happy at how much Prusa Research has blown up and grown over the years. Proud owner of Prusa i3 MK3S
After this story, I would probably have opted for a printer of yours.
"Who knows how many degrees fahrenheit that is!" HAH!!! :D
I was just gifted my first 3D printer from my dad. An Ender pro 3, now I know my second 3D printer will be a Prusa. Fantastic company!
Czech people are wonderful people. A community workshop? Unbelievable ... A businessman with character.
This is just straight impressive! Thanks for making this great behind the scenes and journey video. Stories are everything and you guys have a great one!
Enlightening and refreshing. Great roll up of your amazing history and journey! Wishing you and your team all the best and continued success!
I watched this video from the beginning until the end. This life story encourage many of us to never give up pursuing our dreams.
The longest and most satisfying ad i've ever watched. 27:18 minutes. I now more about Prusa than 3d printers or any class from my university.
Inspiring story, thank you and your team for all the hard work.
This is seriously a really wonderful story. I think I might be finally sold on getting a 3D printer! Congrats guys!
I don't know why but I just keep watching this video every now and again! Thumbs up to Prusa 👍👍👍
I'm pleased to see you.☺️ Take good care of my PRUSA MINI+ . from JAPAN🇯🇵
A wonderful presentation. It's great to see the history of such a great printer and clearly a spectacular operation.
Most motivating video I seen on youtube. Fantastic job, I purchased the mk3s last week, glad to be a part of a wonderful experience.
Just in the middle of assembling my Mk3s+. What a joy. Thank you Josef and team.
A prime example of a company that inspires people to be part of the corporate family, as employees or as customers. I assembled my first Prusa 3D printer last week and am thrilled. The assembly reminded me of my long ago "Lego times". Simply great - in contrast to many a previous experience assembling furniture from Sweden ;-). The finished product, worked immediately. I look forward to the new community
Dude, Iam amazed by your passion that pushed you to reach where you are now. I am happy fo you.
Thankyou for sharing this story. It is very inspiring how you have grown and evolved. Thank you again
Thank you for all you do! I'm so sorry about Buddy. Gotta love that guy. Here's to you Buddy!
Man that's impressive! You don't buy a printer, no you get access to a whole life story of true Passion! Man! That's so cool and when Covid is done, I will visit you in Prague. Greetings and live from Germany!
A huge bravo for all your work, nothing is by chance. I hope you and your team are proud of everything you done ! I send you a lot of love from France, proud to be a PrusaMaker.
What a great success story. Congratulations to you and your staff. I think my next 3D Printer may just be a Prusa now!
Way to go! Cheers to each and every one of you for getting it done and making it happen.
I knew nothing about Prusa printers before this video, besides the name. I now feel like when I finally can budget it, my next printer will be a Prusa. The passion just oozes out of this video and I would love to support that.
I'm putting my Prusa MK3S together right now. I'm so impressed with this kit. Job well done.
Thank you, Josef and your team and staff for amazing printers, with amazing quality, instructions and support! My first printer was a kit with 6 photo-only steps and it was a disaster. I still want to get it running again, but my MK3 takes all my free time, I love it so much and I can't wait to buy multiple MINI'S!
I am so happy that you guys are one of the few that ships printers and filaments up to Alaska!
This is absolutely inspirational. I'm just so impressed with your story, AMAZING!
I love how most of your equipment is 3D printed.. Its a beautiful thing when you can build/fix your own stuff. I remember looking at your OG Prusa printers and wanting one, it's amazing how far you've come.
Absolutely incredible story. I love the way he sticks to his values. If it’s not right let’s not only make it better, but we’ll make it ourselves. Joseph, thank you for your determination to make an awesome product and for continuing to send Haribo bears!
I love this story! GREAT JOB Josef! Best regards Nico from Nico's Projects
each time I feel I'm not going to make it, I watch this video. Thank you Prusa.
Its crazy how far you guys pushed open source hardware business. Keep rocking
I am so proud that someone in my country made such an excelent and growing company that changed the world of creativity
This ain't a story about printers, this is a story about people! Love it!
wow i love this, you work so hard and i love how humble and in touch with the community you are, i hope to buy one of your printers one day!
It's insane to see the way you evolved ! and as a young engineer student it gives me even more confidents and hope for a wonderful futur, Thanks for the work you're provoding !
I am very impressed. I came across the video by accident. Crazy to see how this company has grown. Crazy to feel so much passion in a 30 minute video. I didn't know Prusa and wasn't planning to buy a 3d print, but an i3 MK3S will be ordered soon. Amazing.
Thank you for you and your company’s story. I wish to see this awesome place someday.
This is a great, fantastic story! I am overwhelmed! I am so impressed with your fabulous success and I am sure it will continue.
This was very heartwarming. I got the idea/desire of getting a 3D printer in the near future a few days ago and while initially (after 2 days of research) I was between a few brands and models before watching this, I'm fairly certain that now, after watching this, my first printer will be a Prusa. Sure, the i3 MK3S might be 2x more costly than an Ender 3 Pro, but seeing all the hard work, dedication and passion behind the scenes in your company makes it well worth to support you to keep going and to make even greater things. Best of luck in the future! :)
great!
I still have the improved mendel i made when the files were released. Yeah its a combination of parts and upgrades from both prusa and the open source community, has different electronics and different frame parts, but I learnt so much doing it and I have you to thank. So many people you don't know have benefitted from you and your teams hard work...... Thankyou dearly for doing what you have done to make my experience possible.
This was so awesome to watch!!! Really humbling experience to bring this from the ground up. Please stay amazing!! You guys are awesome
I love coming back and re-watching this video! So good
I love your videos and printers I am only 14 but I spent all my savings on the original Prusa i3 mk3 just to invent and explore. Thanks joe And why was there a printer on a train at the beginning?
good choice young one, keep it up!
Probably some of the best spent money ever.

I still have not bought a 3D Printer, but my first (of 8) was based of the Prusa I3 so thank you for that. inspiring journey. Congratulations!!!
This is awesome! I just started 3D printing and because the years of work put in by people like you, I can now easily bring my ideas to life :)
Surprisingly the general public still doesn’t know what a 3D printer is! I just bought my first Prusa and everyone I’ve discussed 3D printing with either has no idea or think I’m referring to something else. This industry will have a long life and I’m excited to finally be here!
A heart-felt congratulations, Josef! Your printers are my favorite - and mine is always running without issue - unfortunately I can only afford one, let alone 500+ :P. I was fortunate enough to meet you in 2014. I wish you all the best in the future! The dream is adding the Mk3S with a multi-material to the printing family (I guess making a family of 2). Cheers!
Josef, you run an amazing company. And while I don't own one of your printers...yet...I have watched this video countless times over the past year and a half just because it keeps popping up on my suggestions. And every time I get to your In Memory screen for Buddy, as one dog owner to another who has gone through the loss, I tear up. Thank you for all you do!
This was very inspiring. Hardwork will always pay off. Your company is proof.
This video is inspiring, informing, and just entertaining to watch. Best video I’ve watched in a very long time
nemám slov, proste super, fantastické s čím všetkým si sa musel vysporiadať, klobúk dole čo si dokázal vybudovať. Máš môj obdiv, a si môj vzor :o
And your presentations from when you were starting do not look so bad from the outside!!!! I Congratulate you!!! And in the end, what really mattered is that you did do them...
I am 19 yo polish guy, bought MK3s from my whole savings few months ago. Nothing to regret, prinitng 24/7, learning things about it and doing amazing stuff thanks to your printer. You're really breathtaking, wish i'll have opportunity to meet You in future
Great history Josef! All the best for whole Prusa company!
Jakub helped me with my printer once on chat support! This video makes me wish I could work there.
Same but like every job it shouldn't be easy et happy every day. I hope the pay is great because the products aren't cheap.
Well, I guess I am saving up to buy one of your 3D printers. What a wonderful story.
