  • This is very interesting. After reading the description, the bridges are supposed to carry 2 people and break at 3 people(with the lightest design winning). Which I think is even more difficult than just making it as strong as possible.

    • Definitely because making a bridge strong is hard but not as hard as making a bridge strong but not strong enough to hold a certain amount of weight(3 people) so it’s very challenging and that is what makes this challenge fun!

    • @@r0xdab0x96xo I am structural engineer with bridge engineering sepcialisation and I dont know if you are engineer but today we have such advance computer programs for calculations that it is not that hard at all. I always loved bridge building competitions because it is fun and teach you how to think and also you learn manual skills. BUT when you compare these '' models'' to real bridges there is very few things that connects them. I designed steel model that weight 50kg and with 5m span can take 1000kg and it will have 1,2mm deflection (max load would be at least 2000kg) So you See what proportions are in terms of weight to load. In real structure this ratio is much smaller and for Road cable stayed bridges for example it is around 0,25 (load/bridge weight). I myself designed 300m cable stayed Road bridge at my master degree diploma 😀

    • Maybe if they have engineering degrees?? Not sure why you are demanding what type of career choices they make. Not to mention you bring up "the more wise" as if society isn't already being run by idiots. Everyone has the right to speak up. You don't like it? Then move to NK where the "wisest" and most "godly" man on the planet gets to make all of your decisions for you.
