  • I don't remember any original video before this one, but this was nothing short of spectacular! I really like the fact that you used such a variety of moves, but the moves that you picked where actual moves the pokemon have in the games. You also got the correct sound effects to go with them from the games too. I'd imagine the planning phase took a while in addition to the animation phase.

  • These additional challenges can actually make a lot of sense in the Pokémon universe as a whole. If you consider the gyms as trials for Pokémon trainers in both combat and survival in preparation to face a world filled with creatures that can cause serious injury (ex: Gyarodos, Rhyhorn, even a startled, poisonous Nidoran or an earthquake-causing Diglett), the gyms train both the Trainer and the Trainer’s Pokémon both mentally and physically.

  • This is the first pokemon FRLG sprite animation I've seen that isn't needlessly gruesome or just repeating curses for the sake of a joke that's just "it's funny because a kid's character is saying/doing bad adult thing" All this suffice to say, good video

  • Honestly, I'd be super down for something like this being where they went in future games. Before or after the Gym Leader, I don't care, but just some kind of unique challenge that had some real difficulty. So like... a harder version of what they tried for Gen 8's gyms.

    • Apart from the difficulty gen 8's gyms didn't really have much to do with the gym leader nor the type. This concept however is a much needed improvement.
