  • I was actually a Razer's Orbweaver user (that gamepad), back in the day mechanical keyboards were quite expensive here in Brazil (they still are, the good one or those with better brands), but in that time, we didn't had good alternatives like chinese brands with good switches to import for example... so... this orbweaver was really like 30-40% of a mechanical keyboard price - I used to play World of Warcraf pretty hard, raiding almost all days of the week and I was still using a membrane keyboard back them... So it was a good alternative to buy this kind of gear, and after a good setup... it helped me a lot - it had better ergonomics... I could use more of my desk space while gaming, and thoses caps were pretty responsive. It felt like a waste of money after I bought a real (full) mechanical keyboard, and even more after I quit WoW... Even its ergonomics were pretty good, as I remember, It is still inside of its box until nowadays.

    @QueenSaffryn@QueenSaffryn Жыл бұрын
    • I recommend the combination of intra-aural earphones and either a subwoofer to rest your feet on, or a proper footboard with tactile transducer. It's the next-best thing to using intra-aural earphones along with a full tactile chair and footrest. Intra-aural earphones (NOT to be confused with earbuds which are garbage) deliver loud bass all the way down to 30 or even 20 Hz, which no headphones can do. They also naturally attenuate outside noise, which is great for immersion. But though you can _hear_ the bass, you obviously can't _feel_ it in your body. So the combination of IA earphones and subwoofer allows you to feel the bass. Whether it's the _CRUMP_ of a grenade, the _BOOM_ of a 12-gauge shotgun, the feel of the berm at the edge of a racetrack...or just the ability to feel all low sounds and musical notes...it is a great improvement to immersion. P.S. For anyone who wants great all-around IA earphones, pick up the Klipsch S3m if you can find them new online. They're discontinued, but still a great model.

      @QueenSaffryn@QueenSaffryn Жыл бұрын
    • @@kadajawi6567 *'Why wouldn't headphones be able to reach 20 Hz?"* It's pointless whether something can "reach" a frequency if the _amplitude_ isn't high enough to matter. Every speaker, or anything that contains a driver, has a frequency response graph, which shows the loudness at any given frequency. The reason that intra-aural earphones can produce LOUD bass (and sub-bass) is because they essentially create a miniature sub-woofer cabinet out of your ear canal. If you use IA earphones, you'll notice that there is no bass response until you push them in and get a _seal._ Then all of a sudden you get _loud, low bass._ Basically, the lower the frequency, the more acoustical power is required in order to hear it. So it takes far, far less power to hear 3,000 Hz than it does to hear 30 Hz at the same apparent volume. That's why subwoofers are so large. But by coupling the driver to your ear canal so that no air can escape, the air pressure from the little driver gets pushed directly to your eardrum---as if there were a little rod connecting the driver and eardrum that pushes and pulls.

      @bricaaron3978@bricaaron3978 Жыл бұрын
    • @@QueenSaffryn *"...my neighbours wont hear a thing, not even subwoofer sounds."* Speakers aren't near as good for immersion, but yes---if you are fortunate enough to be able to run large subwoofers, you don't need IA earphones for loud, low bass!

  • 18:39 Mom look I'm on LTT! 🤣 There's no cool eye tracking stuff, I called it “parallax” just because I wanted a fancy name for “only creates the illusion when you view at a specific angle*”. On the left is an Acer Aspire One netbook (ancient stuff) and on the right is an Asus VivoTab Smart (Windows 8 tablet thingy) I usually place music players on the right screen (touch input works btw), and some unimportant dashboard stuff on the left due to the netbook's low frame rate. *Edit: It's actually called a "Forced Perspective" and has almost nothing to do with the actual parallax thing, but man that sounds so catchy...

    • Glad I found you. How did you mount the netbook? Is it sturdy enough?

    • @@John_C_J That was anything but sturdy 😆 I just leaned it on the wall and wedged some stuff below it

    • I'm not sure what you're referring to, but it sounds like trompe l'oeil. I believe that forced perspective only applies to specific practical effects used in photography/cinematography, but maybe that's what you are talking about.

    • Was expecting the background to move, in a still picture. Parallax scrolling, y'know.

  • Linus , I'm almost certain that the footrest in setup 4 is a Noblechair footrest. If the PU leather is as bad as the PU leather on their chairs , it'll split and come apart quicker than you'd imagine and also it's very expensive for what it is. On the plus side , it does have an adjustable tilt , but not height. EDIT : They do have a real leather footrest now , but again , very expensive and I hope the real leather one is decent.

  • I’m dying with the judgement of the comfort of a couch relative to how worn out it looks 😂. That is insanely accurate

    • I own an ugly brown couch and can sit on it forever without getting uncomfortable.

  • #7, not just a fancy rig, but a fancy outdoor spider. Those aren't cobwebs the typical house spiders make. Here there be flies, and the spider likes them. ...but what are the flies eating? There's your mystery. (14 minutes later) Great vid! That was fun.
