This is a placeholder. I know that someday these guys will be big, i'm leaving this here to show my utter respect for the post rock genre and any bands subscribed to that flavour of music. May Duster live on.
I think this is the first band since I discovered Bark Psychosis and Talk Talk that has made me so hooked so fast. This is simply amazing
@@doomerbloomer6160 I've always thought Duster had to be influenced by Bark Psychosis. They've both perfected that depressing dreamy sound
Johnathan Smithson this comments starting to age well
This is space rock
@@DivineCruelty666 it's not, it doesn't sound anywhere close to space rock, this is slowcore/post-rock, never really understood why people call duster space rock
Duster completely changed my entire music taste.
‘The audience doesn’t know what they want’ -Rick Rubin
Duster feels like me
whole album feels like lying down in the shower alone with your thoughts
i am listening to this since year 2000. man, 20 years passed by so quick still the same feeling all the time
This makes me feel so pessimistic... Like nothing'll ever change
how are you
this album is a masterpiece of slowcore. no album has ever captured such bleakness and coldness in a way like this, its really amazing
this thing is so bleak and miserable but in the best way possible. i feel so cold and distant listening as if the heater is on but i can't feel it. just a quiet hum from the other room
This is actually happening to me in reality.
what an excellent description. desperation seems imminent when you know what you're missing.
you should listen to hum
@@DivineCruelty666 hum is great
@@DivineCruelty666 hum is amazing
GOD the intro to Me and the Birds never fails to depress the hell out of me
i was suprised its from 2000
im ending my year alone and drunk, YES
There's a new one in 9 hours. Are you still drunk ?
@@simontremblay1860 wow i dont remember this comment, im listening the ramones right now drunk as a cows tittie
@@simontremblay1860too drunk to respond 😔
I love this album so much, it's equal to Stratosphere imo. In fact I've probably listened to Contemporary Movement more.
Was just going to comment that it's even better, i love stratosphere but i dont get why it's their most popular album
@@superneko99 couldn't tell you, i definitely feel like this is their better of the two, though that's not to demean stratosphere at all. This feels more mature, more fleshed out, thought a bit more sad.
@@vic5254 This one is definitely more mature and fleshed out. Better produced too, but Stratosphere just has an energy that makes it absolutely special. That being said, both albums are amazing
@@doomerbloomer6160 I agree with all of that. I listen to both albums and they both serve for different moods!
Stratosphere is an amazing vibe album, it almost feels like one long song to me, swelling and dying out, with occasional snatches of melody throughout. Contemporary Movement is more like a traditional album to me, each song being its own thing, but still cohesive. The one track I’m not as much a fan of is Get The Dutch, honestly I feel like it doesn’t fit with the rest of them for some reason, although it’s still a good song. I love both albums (and the s/t) but I think this one is my favourite. Cooking is god tier
Track 1 is absolutely Cinematic. Those drums my god. First time I ever heard this song I was Young stoner. Idiot honestly but I remember when I heard this I said out loud "They make music in all sorts of sounds".... When I was really trying to say something more deep but that's all I could say
@braingazer... Omg me too
an autumn/winter album for sure. reminds me of stargazing on a cold december night.

"Unrecovery" is one of the best song of the 90s to me. Underrated is not enough, here!
same, that one and diamond are my favorites from this masterpiece
@@inn5268we share a brain
The Breakup Suite has such lovely vocal and guitar melody. I can't escape it.
one of the best albums of all time for me
That album cover looks so cool tho never thought parking spots could look so cool
@braingazer... I do too, they're simple but they say a lot. They look like how the album sounds.
thats what those are?
brutalist architecture goes hard with album covers (molchat doma for example)
makes me wanna lay down drunk in the cold and die from hypothermia
Me and the birds...... wow.... what a droning, halcyon blaze of audio... and the gentle simmering voice... fuck me off out of this lovely world
I like to go back to this album when im feeling alone in life. This album makes me feel like im not alone. Its comforting.
quite a different beast from stratosphere. growing on me at an alarming rate.
I've seen you in 3 different comment sections today alone. Either you get around a lot, or we just have the same taste. (Also nice avatar ;)
been listening to this album since 2006. My comfort album, all time favorite. No skippable songs. Great album.
One of the most beautiful records I've ever heard
Thank you very much for posting this
today my psychologist played Contemporary Movement during the session, and it's funny because Duster and therapy don't go hand in hand
omg the whole album thank you so much
Glad I got the chance to discover them, they are absolutely amazing.
I'm not sure why I never listened to Duster. I think the name Duster just reminded me of some type of Nu metal band or something. Duster is pretty awesome.
Caligula138 jaja same
a bit late to comment but I think it reminded you of the name “sevendust”
Not a nu metal band..... Thankfully.
haven't listened to this in years. brings back beautiful memories. such an amazing album
now its coming back
always like coming back to this
cannae believe that a meme about Sisyphus led me to one of my favorite albums of all time

Perfection.
masterpiece~~

Interesting... Thanks!!
They look like parking garages.
Thought they were some weird science buildings or something lol
0192837465691 thank you for helping me make this association! i grew up in Seattle and listened to duster only for the past ~year, but never connected the memory of one of my favorite albums ever to some childhood imagery. nostalgia.
Just perfect
lovely
i always kinda thought it was funny how travelogue sounds a lot like a title for a modest mouse song, and it sounds like a modest mouse song at the same time
greatest band of all time
I love this
Duster is wonderful.
hey guys wish me luck please i am forced to sing a song for the school choir club and im whether choosing diamonds or the breakup suite, and they have a high chance of posting it to youtube,,,, i know this is dumb you can point and laugh but i want the best luck. i love duster goddamit
im a little late but i hope it goes well/did well!!!
Update us pls
real nice
Thank God for Duster
Just a year, just a genre.. Just a band.
Esa nostalgia noventera si se puede notar.
Dude this shit is HEAVY
duster my beloved
Sublime!!
No this is Duster!
Cameron 😂
This is the best opening to any album I've ever heard.
*worst
still the same feeling
Cooking is so sweet

i love duster
25:24 Unrecovery
Genial
I was in my maths class listening to this while reading the manga blame! and now that’s what associate it with. Glad I checked out the rest of duster’s discography other than stratosphere.
fuck i thought i was the only one who listened to duster while reading blame! my fav band and fav manga ever since
@@inn5268 Cool to know there’s likeminded people. This album in particular sounds very dystopian in my opinion so it’s a really good combination with blame!

Travelogue is the best
Terribly underrated album, their best and among the best from the alt golden era

it doesn't get better does it
this track feels like a fever dream. your out in the wet cold, after a death of a loved one then you wake up
yes stratosphere is their best album but i still think ‘everything you see’ is their best song
Damn. I remember this shit. Alot
Recommend people give Pinebender a listen to if they like this. The song "There's A Bag Of Weights In The Bag Of My Car" could easily be put into this album and not be terribly out of place.
If anyone has tabs for any of the songs off this album i'd love to see them :)
me and the birds is so good
2000s album good
This is their best album. That opening track is just sooo sexy, reminiscent of the cure.
the music is like the cover art mostly blue some gray and little brightness
i get it now
esto es increible

Ik this sounds stupid but i figured its worth a try i like this girl and when i see her i just cant help but see how beautiful she is I’m not confident in myself so every time i see her i just drown in disappointment n hear this but I want to change that so if anybody like this human or bot ill start improving myself so i can do it before spring break i just need a little sign or push thank you for reading this have a good day and stay safe

This album makes me feel a strange sense of nostalgia and sadness..
quarantine in sound form
It's rare but every once in awhile i come across another band That just Completely hits it right with their sound and the post rock Ambient sounding tunes with the lo fi quality of this bands work is perfect... Track 1. Never heard before. Alot of you if your reading are probably pretty big Modest mouse fans too. At least modest mouses First Hand full of albums. If not your probably into explosions in the sky or mogwai. Maybe Velvet underground too. And the other half of you really enjoys Brand new and The get up kids. Saves the days Album Can't slow down Was one you liked. And you absolutely love Interpol especially turn on the bright lights Or maybe I'm just talking about me
I love modest mouse and turn on the bright lights
spot on mate. i found duster in an attempt to find music that was as cathartic as the early MM albums ( which i honetly love more than anything/one in this world

Brand New, Modest Mouse and goth stuff
@@quinchienpro-prietaire7409 Yes. I did find out about this new group of Young Talented Musicians that I dig. The band is called Julie. And The song I recommend listening to is called daisy pusher by Julie. Or Kit by Julie.
i’m probably gonna end life pretty soon, and you can bet Travelogue will be playing on the way out. i’m glad at least i got to be in the same universe as this band for a while.
it's not worth it

i was laughing to this
this and stratosphere are both perfect timeless albums fuck the bullshit
albums are music
If I get the chance, haha. I wouldn't even think twice. Aren't both of their LP's a rare item? I've never seen one in person, and they are pretty inflated online. At least in vinyl form. I already have the digital music.
Me and the birds.
@019283746... Hey-Hey . I like it like that ... (to coin a phrase)
Came here from shoegaze; I do not regret it.
Do the Calm records that predate Duster have any value these days?
