(Tw for sh) Bad day at work. Felt like the only people I loved hated me. I go home and lock my door, planning on hurting myself for the first time that night. My brother knocks on the door. "Wanna hang out in my room?" I say yes. We hung out until 2AM listening to Alex G and Carseat Headrest, and at that moment, I felt loved. He was the reason I was able to have the will to wake up the next morning. Now, every time I hear this nostalgic indie music, I remember that moment, and I feel okay. Thanks Owen.

Alex G's Race is one of the most incredible albums that I have heard in my lifetime. It's something about the creativity of each and every song. It brings you to a specific place just by the first three chords and when you realize you are involve in something bigger than you can imagine. His magnum opus if I had to say. Moved in every way and by every song. It somehow fits so well hearing this songs put together, although you cannot see a pattern or a defined genre in his music. It feels like being a kid again, and hearing music for the first time. It truly feels like a race. Are you really there?

this whole album sounds like a large hole in your chest. the empty feeling, the feeling like someone or something is just missing. you try to breathe in, but the air cannot fill the emptiness that stubbornly proceeds to say that someone/something you lost a long time ago is the only thing that will patch it. that hole sits there for eternity. no matter how many tears that start from your eyes and end at the the dent-in pit in your chest, no matter how many times you meet a sweet new someone or discover something better than what you lost, no matter who or what is comforting you and telling you ¨you can find so much better¨,¨im so sorry that happened¨ or ¨im here for you¨, no matter how much fun you go out and make with the things/people you love and appreciate, you can't seem to take your mind off the piece that's missing and won't heal or even scar/scab. you know this thing you miss so much was horrible for you, but the trauma of it either just won't leave you alone, or you want what you had with it back (not completely getting why either).
@angellahansen93652 жыл бұрын

Was bored in my room, went online to see what was on in manchester, saw 'Alex G' was playing just an hour before it started, listened to one song, decided to go on my own. Best decision of my life.
You look really good in you profile picture, Emma.
this made me lol
You do 2, girl. don't wurry.
good to read this comment. I'm going alone to see Built to Spill...Alex G is opening. I hope it's this guy and not the female pop singer with the same name...
I saw him with Built To Spill as well, although I originally went for Alex and ended up getting into Built To Spill. It's gonna be a good show don't worry

I thank the lord for creating Owen's soul. He sounds like a great brother. God bless bro, I hope you have a good life despite the struggles.

Are you really there?
you should listen to When you see yourself by Kings of leons
You should listen to happiness by starry cat
I discovered this in 2020. Kinda crazy how long it takes to find good things.
You should listen to Beach Music by him. His best album in my opinion.
2021 for me
Winner is my favorite album

Funny bc I have a friend who showed me that song, and he fits that description.
These songs make me so uncomfortably comfortable while a erie nostalgia hangs in over me so much happiness and sadness that I don’t know I had in me come out it’s so raw and beautiful
Matthew Frawley exactly my friend, exactly
So true

shut up, moron
I think tearful paragraphs are better with no punctuation I love it thank you
this whole album sounds like a large hole in your chest. the empty feeling, the feeling like someone or something is just missing. you try to breathe in, but the air cannot fill the emptiness that stubbornly proceeds to say that someone/something you lost a long time ago is the only thing that will patch it. that hole sits there for eternity. no matter how many tears that start from your eyes and end at the the dent-in pit in your chest, no matter how many times you meet a sweet new someone or discover something better than what you lost, no matter who or what is comforting you and telling you ¨you can find so much better¨,¨im so sorry that happened¨ or ¨im here for you¨, no matter how much fun you go out and make with the things/people you love and appreciate, you can't seem to take your mind off the piece that's missing and won't heal or even scar/scab. you know this thing you miss so much was horrible for you, but the trauma of it either just won't leave you alone, or you want what you had with it back (not completely getting why either).
I can say that some sort of "empty nostalgia" pinpoints how I feel when I listen to this album. Alex G seems to be one of the only musicians that can fully bring sound to the ways I feel. It's so strange.
from today i’m doing what i want. i’m being who i want. this album just means a lot to me and it makes me want to be better.
this comment makes me so happy
hell yeah man go for it
Alex G was the soundtrack for my youth between 16 and 18 (I'm almost 21 years old btw) Every time I listen to him so many memories come up and I just feel that time in my life so heavy again
you're still young lol 21? baby.

My ex & i used to listen to this and Trick on repeat back in like 2013. It brings back some painful memories now, but i don’t think this album will never leave me. It’s too perfect to leave behind i feel like it’s buried deep in my subconscious at this point

I keep on coming back to this album as a reminder of where I finally started my life.
Hey, it’s me again 3 years later from my first comment. Using this album as a marker on where my life started getting better is what keeps me here. Just something about it, something
this is exactly how i feel too
There something very positive about this album. Maybe that why so much heaven is visible on the cover^-^

He was 16 actually
this is one of the best albums ever made. he was so young. never fails to blow my mind
A song doesn't have to be slow to be sad. This entire album proved that to me
Now that this album is older, it feels painfully nostalgic. It makes me a bit sad, even though I wasn’t happy at the time I’d listen to it. But for a moment I can feel what almost 10 years ago felt like. I don’t want to go back, but there is something sad about knowing you never can go back.
i listened to this in the end of 2015, and since then i`ve been discovering a lot of different albuns and stuff, but i swear, i swear that i will never listen something as good as this . the feelings that this shit gave me are something that i`ll never be able to reciprocate. thank you, alex g

Way to find a hidden gem. Alex G is amazing.
His music is so universal like watching waves on a beach. Theres just that feeling that everything is exactly how its supposed to be no matter how fucked up it seems
My favorite part about loving music is, when I hear certain songs, I remember the feelings I had at that time. Like the first time I listened to Sarah, I know that when I'm older, I'll hear that song and remember the endless days staring at my computer doing online school, holding back tears from loneliness, peaceful nights where all I want to do is sleep but I can't help but stay up and think of all the good times I had before everything went bad.
I've only ever heard Alex G's unreleased stuff from a folder I downloaded. Decided to check out his actual releases tonight. Not disappointed.
I hate it when I'm searching for an Alex G song and all that appears is that Alex G chick. ugggghhh
+Sarah Sarita That makes so much more sense. I had never listened to either, but I was like this Alex G (chick) is not indie and terrible.
