Tractor Supply sells fence, and T-Post, The cost of fencing has really skyrocketed since inflation has hit, I use sheep & goat field fence it comes in 330' roll and it's real heavy, but I stretch it with a come-a-long, the tighter the better, also keeps anyone from slipping under it. Informative video, thanks.
Thank you those are great tips!
I just used this type of fence for my chicken run!
I understand If you don't come back to this, but I'd love more info on the stretching with a comealong, I'm having a hard time envisioning what you mean
How could i use that wire without a come a long? What would be a cheaper way to stretcher
@timhaskins3701 a rope with a windlass would be my next choice. Aside from that, walmart and tractor supply both have pretty cheap comealongs, and they're incredibly handy to have around. I've use one to straight out the bumper on my bronco once after I veered off a trail
Awesome job appreciate you and your efforts. You’re a great dad!!
Did this with my backyard 2 years ago! Spent less then $200 at tractor supply...love it!
I also wrapped the bottom of the hog panels with chicken wire!
How the hell did you do this for $200
Your backyard must be small if you did it for less than $200
Ditto, and i added a hotwire on inside and outside. Dogs kept getting out, and now im buliding a chicken coop in the yard.
Just FYI in my area at tractor supply you can buy a bundle of TPOSTs (5 post in each bundle) and you get a free bag of TPOST clips with it. So if you buy 3 bundles you get 3 bags of clips with it! Pretty neat deal
Thank you. I recently got some quotes and 300’ of chain link was $7,000 to have installed. I will be building my own now.
Yes we got quoted 30,000 for our fence since that’s why I decided to do this
@@AcresOfAdventure How much would 38 arces cost lol
@@alonzogonzalez4272 they gonna get you for a mil😭
@@AcresOfAdventure 😮
lol same. 10K for a small backyard. 🤡
I like how the doggies go around the whole fence to check out their boundaries:))
You just changed my life and the life of my DOGS!👊🏽
That was the one main reason for us to do it, you will be so happy for your dogs, I still am happy to watch them be loose and free!
my dog got hit by a car yesterday luckily she survived . I'm a single woman on a budget and this seems to be the best fence to build thanks for this
The dogs were so so happy!
Yes it has made a big difference for them!
Awesome video. I’m about to do this myself for about two acres, and for the same reasons! Want my two pups to be able to run freely. Thanks man.
We are very happy with it, it has worked out great for the pups so far! Easy & affordable for a property with a lot of space.
Thank you - I have 2.5 acres that I can’t wait to let the dogs loose. We lived in an apartment for the last 10 years so seeing them run - I get it, the joy and satisfaction!! Great job!
Every 50 feet and at all corners, sink an 8 foot, 6 inch round wood post with concrete to a depth of about 3 feet, so that you have 5 foot sticking out of the ground. Start at one wooden post and secure the fence with fencing staples. Not roll it out to the 2nd - 50 foot post or to the nearest corner. Using a come-along you can stretch the fence nice and tight, and then staple it to the 1st wooden post. Do the same thing all the way around so that it's nice and tight and secured to all the wooden posts. THEN use the T-post clips and attach to the T-posts. You'll have a nice, tight fence that will last a long time.
Thank you for the tip! We have secured the corners but that would be better to secure it all!
I was wondering if at the end he would stretch his saggy fence
I have been putting it off for the longest time because I always thought it would just be too expensive. This video has definitely encouraged me to put that fence up at last. Thanks for the upload, bud.
No problem happy that it can help! I did so much research to try to find a way to build some kind of fence and wish I would have found a video that did it a little like mine. Much cheaper then other routes out there. Hope it goes well for you!
Finally, a video with straightforward info…I think I can do this & that last part about being proud was heartwarming. Thanks for sharing!
One thing I’ve learned in all my years of living, is find what makes it easier for you, and those you care about.
Thanks for your video. Love seeing the dogs running around. I think that's about my budget for fence, so very grateful for tutorial
Awesome job! What a joy to see the pups run free ❤️
They are sooo happy. I love it !! I am getting online right now and buying these exact same things and doing this to my yard this week!! THANK YOU FOR THIS !!
that is awesome. thanks for your encouraging fencing sharing, literally all by yourself in a day. WOW !! best fencing solution ever come across👏👏👏
I bought a 2 acre peice of land that needs fenced in for a couple goats. Thank you for the ideas! I appreciate people like you documenting cheap diy solutions that I can put together to build my homestead !
Of course! Your welcome Spencer. We started this channel to give motivation but also hopefully some helpful tips along the way, glad that it helped!
@@AcresOfAdventure Can I build fence like that to stop neighbour n his Lndscper from trespassing my property He planted a fence of gg on my property line and I’m desperately looking for pushing his trees n him off my property It’s so nnoying I can’t put real fence there but something like urs probably
I love the simplicity of your explanations. It’s the best easy to understand video I’ve come across. I live in HI. & it comes with challenges. I’m in an acre too. The entire front of property crossing driveway is gated. So I must do the other 3 sides. One problem is I have old lava between 300-700 yrs. old. I guess I’ll survey property line between little markers to see if it’s dirt, then proceed. I’ll ask Tractor Supply here info on old lava. Hogwire fence is cheapest here & I want to do exactly like yours. We have wild hogs. Now I’m inspired after watching your video. Thank you very much, this video boosted my confidence.
Clip bender tool is a game changer, well worth it if you’re doing this type of fence. I now have two because I misplaced the first one and just could not bear to do another fence without it.
That was so wonderful to see all this! Especially as your dogs ran around! Yea!! I appreciate your help to know of a cheap way to fence! Thank you! Blessings!
Couldn’t be happier to see my dogs loose and having fun and running and chasing everything! Thank you!
I cant wait to have a fenced in yard for my spoiled doggy to run. ❤ You did a great job love how the fence came out. Simple easy and good.
Wow Awesomeness, Can't wait to Share, Your DIY, Thanks for Sharing 👍🏡
OMG, thank you for this. Most of the videos I've found are for fancy fencing. We just need to know how to do simple ranch fencing. You answered all the important questions. How far apart for the t-posts, the materials needed, and the tools needed. Thank you!!!
Tools are in the description! And you can do anywhere from like 6-8 ft apart! Glad this helped you!
You dispelled any notion of this costing a lot or it being difficult. I need to put up some fencing for my dogs too. Thank you so much for this video!
THANK YOU!!!! I NOW HAVE A CHEAP NOCE OPTION FOR MY ACRE!!! YOU ARE THE BEST
I can't wait to do this in the spring. This is the best DIY fence! Thank you!!!!
You are so welcome!
Thank you for sharing how you put up your fence it has been very helpful to me.
Thank you for making this video!! Now I feel confident enough to get the materials and attempt this myself. ☺
You can do it!
Anf proud you ought to be!!! What a wonderful project and great idea, and the speed with which you did the whole thing is amazing!! Had chills seeing the dogs so happy and carefree! I am very grateful for the video I have 1/2 an acre I want to fence and at 79 years of age I need something simple. I think I can do this. Thanks so much. Enjoy your fence and please give the dogs a hug for me.
I will give them each a hug! Glad this video helped you and you enjoyed it!
Awwww, they love it!! Now I know that this will work for my needs...and budget. Thanks for sharing.
No problem Tammy! Glad it could help and hope all goes well for you!
You are rich in all things that matter. Great Job on this .. Im about to do this same job. Appreciate the help.
Great job! Thank you! I can relate to happiness you feel for the dogs. That’s why I want to put a fence for them. 🙏🏻 Thank you!
It was a great feeling to see them running freely though the yard! A fenced in yard is really a game changer when you have dogs.
Thanks! Needed this for our vege garden to keep the chickens out. This is a great looking budget deal.
Glad it will help you, have fun growing!
Thank you for posting. I'm planning to install 150 feet this weekend and now I know what to buy and what to expect when I do the installation. Thanks again for your informative, helpful video.
Awesome, so glad to hear this helped. We just did a gate video this week so make sure to check that out as well!
This is pretty awesome, I've been looking forward r ideas to keep the dogs in, but still have the freedom to run and use the yard with us, thank you.
I need this for my 3 and 1 year old. Both all over the place and the back yard isn't fenced. Need something cheap and easily taken down for moving. This is perfect
I enjoyed the video may you and your whole family have a great time with the new fence 👍🏼
Great job, and the dogs were the true testament Nice !!
Thank you! And also thanks for watching, it’s been about half a year and the fence has held up to the dog test still so I would say this works!
instead of helping me build a fence from scratch this helped me figure out what tools and how things were SUPOSED to be done that previous renters did horribly and cheaper to help give me an ideal everything I will have to do to fix it *sigh*
Amazing effort, Well done! Looks beautiful and professional! Happy living!
Great video! Really informative and you made it easy to see what you were doing. Thank you for sharing!
Thank you so much! It really was easy to do compared to other options and cheaper, would highly recommend!
Instant subscription, because you noted the prices!!! Been planning on this for awhile to fence in a football field sized yard, and you gave me a relatively ballpark I can look at for pricing. Currently in a wheelchair, but can still figure out how to get things done, just a little bit slower, (and shorter) ;) Have put off looking for a dog or two for awhile until I get it done, so Thank you again!!!
Awesome Walter! I hope this is just what you needed
Is awesome im glad they get to play I'm looking into doing a fence for my fur babies .. great job 😊
This fence is very easy and cheaper then Having someone make one, your dogs will love it!
Thanks for the video. Now a days, everything is expensive. We will be moving to an old farm house and I need the fence fast and sturdy with a gate for the cars. The gate post will be stronger of course but your video was on point for us @ the moment. Thanks again
wow what a great alternative to chain link fence. thanks for the video
Dogs playing was so fun to watch.
It was definitely worth all the hard work to see how much they enjoyed the yard!
ty for this video. my husband and I drove otr together until I retired last year. doing a fence for our 6yr old dogs, first time off leash. I like that I can do this myself, my yard is much smaller so hopefully in one or two days have it done. again ty!
Glad this could help! It’s very easy and pretty cheap compared to all the other options, plus your dogs will be happy to be leash free! Thanks for watching Jean!
Thank you for actually showing up close. Great vid!
Thank you! I like those shots so that you can see exactly what I’m doing!
I love your temp gate idea. I'm going to adapt that to a garden deer repellant gate that will be easy to move.
Love the moment the dogs came out! VERY helpful video thank you :)
It made me so happy for them, truly was a proud dog dad at that moment they finally had a lawn to roam!
Great job!! We're going to go thru the same process this summer. Thank you for the nice video.
No problem! We will be adding to the fence this spring and added gates throughout, it has been a life saver, and money saver!
I loved this video!! There so happy!!! I'm gonna do it!! 😅
Thank you for posting this! I'm going to try!
No problem! It has held them both in good which is impressive since the little one chasing everything and my other dog is 100lbs almost so it works!
Thumbs Up your fortunate and very lucky to live there with all that land!
Happy for your family 😊hope we’ll do same job this year
Such a honest video. Thank you and well done.
Thank you! Nothing better then seeing my dogs happy with a big yard!
We’re putting in our fence this weekend and for the exact same reason as you :) We want to keep our dogs safe but let them run free. We have 6 acres, mostly woods but we have a great space outside the pool area that will be perfect. Thank you for sharing.
I am so glad that this will help! I love to hear how people are using this to help give there dogs room to play and be free!
How much did the project cost you?? If you don't mind me asking...
@@mr_4point681 I was wondering too 🙂
@@mr_4point681 Average cost of stronger goat proof woven wire/not welded wire as shown here is around $250/330' roll... Posts are $5-$9 each... Safe to assume $2 to $3 per linear foot
thank you for making it look easy!! our next project
For having no experience it wasn’t bad! It took all day to do but the fact that you could be out there all day and cover about an acre of land I would say it’s easier and cheaper then most other options! Hope it all works out for you! If you have questions let me know
@@AcresOfAdventure Yes, we are going with easy and cheap for our dog and kid)) We are going to the store today to pick up the materials you have listed!! Did you make a video where you finished the gates? if yes, send a link, please! Very cozy KZhead channel!
Woohoo hope it works out well! And no, sorry. Our ground has been frozen so the gate will be coming in spring time, just have to wait for these long winters here in Michigan to end! Glad you like the channel!
Great. Very Informative. Thank You for taking the time to make this video.
Nice! I’m going to put a small fence around my garden to keep the rabbits and my dog out. Thanks for the video.
Thanks for sharing !!! Doing this for my dogs.
Your dogs will LOVE it. I was so happy for them that day
Congrats on your new place!
Thank you! We have been enjoying it a lot!
Exactly what I was looking for thanks. What a life saver bro
Awesome video. Helped me because I need to repair some fencing and had no idea what I needed. Thanks
No problem Connie, glad to help and happy to hear!
Looks good. I need an option for my garden. This may be it!
Yep! I'm thinking the same thing. I need to keep chickens out of my garden but if this held up I might do it for the dogs too.
Love the video man trying to do the same for my Great Pyrenees puppy and some chickens 🤙🏻
This should work great, it’s been able to contain our big guy! We love making videos about our Great Pyrenees and Chickens. Glad this video could help you let me know if you have any questions!
So happy for you! I have a Great Pyrenees mix and we need a fence!!! On an acre
This is probably a little more expensive since I have done it but it has worked very good for him!
Thanks for this. My project will be much smaller. I was just at Home Depot and Tractor Supply looking at similar solutions. I'm going with the black coated wire fencing, but also using the T-posts.
Glad it could help! I love when I can figure out if to make things cheaper that still look nice!
Thank u !! Your dogs loves you 🥹🥹🥹
Great job! I’m happy for u all!
Congratulations 🎉!!! Looks beautiful
Your a good owner for getting them off the leashes . Good job .
I just seen all what you had at my local tractor and supply . I actually bought a smaller one for 12 puppies of mine. But I have very crafty dogs. I want to install a smaller version inside our yard in the back because we have fences on the side but not in the back . So I what to fence the area were the dogs are and then also the back of the yards. Thanks for the video.
proud of you my g great vid
Thank you
This!! I've been searching for exactly this. My property is the same size, 2 Goldens and they are always on leash which makes me sad. Ty so much.
Your Welcome! When I made this I had no idea if it would help anyone but I am so happy to hear when it has! Glad that it helped and can't wait to hear how it goes for you and happy that your dogs will soon be having a fence!
Thanks for the tips bro. I never knew they made a tool for those clips. I’ve been using pliers and a screwdriver for years lmao
Your really a kind man. Thanks. Im going to try also. Bye
Thank you! I hope this works for you!
Thanks for sharing and loved it.
Glad it helped Tom! Hope you can make the fencing you want!
Thank you for this video. We have a large dog and a chain link fenced in area that cost us over $3,000.00 We have an acre lot and just want to fence off an additional area so our dog can have the freedom to run and get exercise.
Nice property good job on the fence good video thanks
No problem, thank you we hope to make it look nice!
gonna do this in the summer 👍
I putting a fence around my mountain property, for when society falls apart. Stay safe everyone.
not a bad idea!
Im started a farm and got quoted 10k to 14k to fence the 1.5 acres from 6 different companies That inspired me to see if its possible to even do it myself So thank you so much for this video very inspiring!!
Thank you so much. Great video. 👍👌
Thanks again! My dogs were happy to have the fence!
@@AcresOfAdventure Oh yes! Perfect!
Wow! Weldone! Mine is farm and needed something that will last longer which might cost much.
Congrats and thanks 👍🙏
Good video bud. I bought a place on 1/2 acre out in Texas and I was really worried about the cost of a decent fence to keep my dogs in until I viewed this video. I'm going to do the same on my yard. Thank you
Glad it helped Mitchell! Hope your dogs will have fun with their yard to play!
You aren't wrong, got a quote for $15k for a fence for one acre.
❤️❤️❤️ I'm so doing this ASAP!!!
Great to hear Shonda! It was very easy for doing your own fences purposes
Be careful when doing this. Fencing is hard work. If it's too hot outside it can be dangerous definitely drink lots of Gatorade.
I did the exact same thing to my backyard (half acre lot). Same posts, same wire fencing as yours. For the front, I used pick fencing with a gate. The wire fencing last 20 years, and went through many dogs, until I finally replaced it with a chain link. There's a house around here that used split rail fencing with the wire fencing stapled behind it. It looks great and you can't see the wire fence from a distance.
Hey Donna! That is a great idea, once we can budget out some wood post we would love to add that for the look!
@@AcresOfAdventure To be honest, in the semi rural setting that I live in, the split railing/wire fencing idea is aesthetically more pleasing vs. a chain link. The only reason why I went with a chain link is because it's not visible among all the trees/shrubs on my property.
Soooo helpful! Thank you.
Glad that it could help! Are you looking to do your own fence? do you have a big spot to fence?
@@AcresOfAdventure Yeah. 1/2 acre, sloped, very expensive to have someone else do it.
Yes it is, we were quoted like 30,000 dollars....well good luck hope all works well for you!
Thank you, thats a great job.
Your welcome!
Nice!! Love this. I might use this idea to create my 10 x 20 ft. chicken run. Just have to figure out a gate and keeping part of it covered with a roof.
We plan on doing our chicken run with this as well too. We are still debating if we are going to buy a farm gate or customize one for the run.
Just buy a gate from tractor supply and concrete in 2 wooden posts on each side of it. 1 for the hinges and one to wrap the chain around when closed.
You just inspired me and I’m going to the tractor supply and have some fence delivered. I don’t have $2000 for a partial privacy fence that would only be about 6 or 7 feet plus pay for a permit just for a garden I want
Great job!
Rintintin leap right over the fence!
Cool.Nice looking dogs
Your dogs are so lucky❤ I also have a Pyr and a smaller dog! They need to run!!!
They were unlucky for so long that I’m happy we were able to give this back to them❤️
