Horse Shoeing Aero

2017 ж. 9 Там.

Another Horse shoeing video, this time it's Aero's turn. She is quite old and doesn't do much work so her shoes weren't very worn. After trimming her feet i put the old shoes back on.

PLEASE READ THE FAQ's BEFORE POSTING!!
1: Hot shoeing ensures a good fit.
2: No, it doesn't hurt the horse if it's shod correctly by a qualified registered person.
3: The horse is calm because it has been trained from birth to know there is nothing to fear.
4: The majority of horses these days are worked either under saddle or in harness and on hard man made surfaces, shoes protect the feet from wearing down too much and can add grip via studs in the shoes for competition animals.
5: Feral horses have particularly hard feet and manage them naturally by foraging, if they get sick they recover or die, it’s nature.
6: The average horse needs re-shoeing every 6-8 weeks
7: The bit I am nailing to has no nerves and is made of Keratin, the same as your finger nails and hair.
8: The burning smells just like burning hair.

  • Ok I’m making this comment so people can get questions answered without wasting time on a comment. Here we go 1: q does shoeing the horse hurt them? 1: a no shoeing the horse doesn’t hurt them,it’s like trimming your nails 2: q what is the white stuff on the foot? 2: a the white stuff is fresh keratin underneath the old worn out stuff. (If you didn’t know what keratin is,it’s what your nails are made of) 3: q why do they put the hot shoe on the foot? 3: a it creates a custom fit to the horses foot for maximum comfort. If it doesn’t fit they use the hammer and anvil to make it perfect for the horses foot. I hope this answered some questions and if I left anything out just let me know. Hope this helped😊 Thank you for the likes I really appreciate that you took the time to read this, have a great day/night.

  • Horse hoof trimming and shoeing is a really important part in taking care of a horse. The hoof is kinda like human fingernails, you wont hurt the horse unless you go too deep when trimming. The V-shaped part of the hoof in the middle (also called the frog) is the sensitive part of the hoof, and that’s why you don’t really trim or touch it. The horses can’t feel the rest of the hoof (the outside part) and that’s why he can safely trim it and put new shoes on😊 I’m not an expert at this lol, but this is what I’ve learned. He did a very nice job and looks like he knows what he’s doing.

  • Thank you for your outstanding videos. I am a farrier in the US, and I admire and appreciate your craftsmanship, skill and efficiency. I am learning from you by watching how you go about your work. And I have noticed the quiet ease with which you move around the horses you serve. They trust you and work with you, and you accommodate them by keeping their legs low and close to their midline. Not sure if that's especially common among British farriers, but I do believe it's something that should be taught and encouraged more. Thank you again for your KZhead channel. Really great videos. I'm making my way through all of them.

  • This brings back memories of my horse camp days where there were always a farrier day. We would watch the farrier do their job and they'd explain everything and then we could keep the shoes. We even made jewellery out of the nails. It was so much fun and thanks to those memories, I'm thinking about becoming farrier in the future.

  • I'm in awe how close aero let you get to their frog while doing this; there's clearly a strong trust between you two. Whenever I cleaned out hooves just with the brush and pick for like normal upkeep grooming, if I got too close they would pull away (because we didnt have that years long foundation of trust and it can be sensitive to hit the frog, I would be the same if it was me). I would get so worried when he would scrape/trim near it, but he obviously has a better idea of where the frog is than I did, and I'm impressed 😯 (in a good way, I'm not trying to be like rude or criticizing on anyone but myself lol)

I myself have never ridden a horse, and I'm actually quite scared of them, but I think it's so cool that there are such a large group of people that find this job so interesting! I've even pondered that in another life I could have been a horse fairer. It's a very a noble and caring thing, which also reinforces and keeps the bond with nature; horses in particular of course.
