Taylor Swift and Martin McDonagh sit down to discuss their respective experiences with directing. Taylor goes deep into working with Sadie Sink and what her plans are with directing features as well as her latest record, 'Midnights.' Martin McDonagh touches on the techniques he's learned over the years working with Colin Farrell for 'The Banshees of Inisherin' and what it's like working with a donkey.

Right ... ! That's what I thought. Such a brilliant conversation.
My thoughts exactly! They're both so humble and admirative of each other in that way. It actually makes the exchange very well-balanced and dynamic.

The Manuscript 🤔
I want to say that I've never listened to Taylor Swift's music much, but this interview has really opened my eyes to how brilliant of a person she is. What fantastic insight and understanding she has about the creative process. It's so refreshing compared to what you hear from most modern pop stars. I believe she would be capable of writing/directing a feature film.
I hope this realization makes you decide to sit and be present with her music you didn't hear on the radio. Buckle up, you're in for a ride.
Seconding the comment above! I’ve been a fan of Taylor’s music for over a decade and I always recommend her 9th album ‘Evermore’ to other creative adults. It’s such a good exhibit of her storytelling ability and song writing skill.
We have the same whatever the hell that icon is on the left!😅
It’s a matter of time before Taylor writes a book. I can see that becoming an extension to her songwriting skills. Brilliant video, they were both incredible here.

I'm not even a swiftie but if this woman ever writes a book you bet I'm reading the hell out of it skipping the premise
Wait, Taylor Swift's a movie director? ahahahaahahah
bro that one I'm so looking forward to
i think she wrote a book when she was younger, but i’d love for her to write one as an adult!
People just don't give Taylor enough credit for just how much she's studied and learned along the way in her career and she really is ready to make a feature film and I can't wait to see what she does!!
the last scene in all too well is her book presentations. And the film has chapters linke a book would. My guess is she's dropping hint on an upcoming book...
@elainascott7496 - Agreed!
Yeah if you have that kind of money you can do just about anything
Lmao. Yeah yeah she is a real intellectual 😂

This interview alone is a proof of her writing her own music. she’s so eloquent, articulate and yet constructive. Her choice of words is just immaculate. SHE IS THE SONGWRITER OF THIS GENERATION WITHOUT A DOUBT
She sucks as a director . She is only doing this interview, because she brings views. I loath this.

She has many many many co-writers. They are credited on her albums if you read the album liners, or look up each album/single on Wikipedia.
@@JasGoodgameJamzYuh she literally wrote Speak Now all by herself, for most of her songs she has 2 or 3 co-writers. for her albums folklore and evermore she only worked with 1 co writer per song, 2 at most and she always tends to work w the same people, like jack antonoff or aaron dessner. her collaborators have constantly said what an amazing writer she is, how the majority of the time they work as an editor rather than a writer. stop diminishing her songwriting abilities just bc you don't like her music
@@JasGoodgameJamzYuh for her debut album that se wrote whe she was 15, she wrote thr album w only co writer for most of the album, liz rose, for her second album fearless she wrote 7 songs solo, then the rest with liz or anothe co writer, for her alum speak now she wrote it enterily by herself, in her next album red she wrote 10 songs solo and the rest w 2 or 3 co writers. for her album 1989 she wrote most of the songs w shellback and max martin, for her album reputation she either wrote with max martin and shellback or only with jack antonoff, her next two albums folklore or evermore, she only had 1 co writer, either antonoff or dessner. and for her albums lover and midnights she worked with 3 or 4 co writers for like 2 songs, and the rest were writting only by her and antonoff. she has written over 60 sogs solo

This is just another proof of what an incredible intelligent, witty, wise, clever and talented woman she is. Those Taylor Swift haters often say they don’t like her music bc it’s „boring and girly“ or whatever but those people just don’t understand the depth and meaning of her work. Yes absolutely. For her the sky’s the limit.
Taylor is a creative sk*nk.
@B Babbichyou know what? that's how many people dismiss most successful women's work... honestly I'm not even a Taylor Swift fan, but she seems like a really nice person and someone who is passionate about telling stories and exploring her creativity. I see some fellow cinephiles acting really negatively towards Swift but I think it's not fair. I think it's great she's exploring this side of her creative mind, and she's not harming anyone in doing so (I say this because some people on twitter are acting like she personally killed their favourite director)

This video really makes me understand and know so much more deeply about Taylor Swift than any other interviews she's ever had before. It focused on the only one thing that she wants us to focus on: Her Career, instead of who she's dating at the moment, or any other private personal life things of hers. I'm truly happy that we had a chance to know her better x
What a great conversation. So often when I see interviews of Taylor Swift, it's like she can't forget the audience is there and she kind of has a vibe of still being in performance mode, and the interviewers don't usually seem especially interested in her as a person, which doesn't help. But here, both participants were so relaxed and engaged and just having a very genuine conversation. It brought out so much more depth.

Taylor's absolute enthusiasm towards Martin's movie has finally convinced me to give it a watch. What a fantastic conversation! I absolutely love how Martin is so invested in learning about her direction. She talks about her work for a majority of the video but thats only because Martin is so kind to keep his answers short and turn the question back on her
Because he probably has been in the game long enough to know that most people are coming to this video to see her, not him, and he does not want to be dragged by her huge fanbase for mistreating an "upcoming" "female" director that frankly isn't in the same league as him when it comes to output and quality of output at the moment.

I would've liked to hear more from Martin. Taylor was so excited that she interrupted him very much. Also, it was very nice to see that he was so respectful of her work as a beginner director.
Agreed. I like Taylor, but she interrupted him.
finally seeing the easter eggs for TTPD
What is it?
@@PATRICK-LEGERshe says that she does poetry and when she mentioned a manuscript
Taylor Swift really is just an articulate speaker, the way she spoke her mind always amazes me. I'm looking forward to what she'll gonna do in the future, I know she'll just keep getting better and I'm so excited for her future films.
i absolutely adored listening to taylor and martin’s conversation… they were both so interested in eachothers work & shared great insights into their process. it really warms my heart to know how happy taylor is right now and that the more she creates the happier she is ♥️
Martin probably doesn`t know the facts that gorgon next to him is a c*mrag and a dishonest Christian.
Gosh what an amazing and respectful conversation. Lots of great points made, especially about how friendship breakups aren’t talked about enough in media and how you don’t have to suffer alongside your art
Not all the comments being Taylor this Taylor that, proud of Taylor, versatile Taylor, when Martin McDonagh is literally right there... This pairing is a joke, not because of Taylor but because of the nature of conversation she attracts. I had no doubts that she's "good enough" to be in a dialogue with Martin, that she's an intelligent person that can do that much, but God the comments are boring.
So martin writes the way some people daydream. You kinda know the way you want it to go but sometimes it just has a life of its own and it fully takes the reins. It reminded me of the way Dali would do surrealism, sort of dancing on and around that line that separates the state of awake and aware from the asleep and fever-dreaming one, and trusting the subconscious to do whatever needs to be done. Whatever it is that's pushing to come out, don't try to make sense of it and manage it, just let it come out and exist. It has its reasons and its rights. Honestly, creating like that feels just incredibly cathartic and fulfilling. Hey, if I'm not wrong, Taylor basically wrote the song All Too Well just like that, didn't she? in a spur-of-the-moment, fluid and vulnerable single 15-minute take during rehearsals.
martin mcdonagh is a legend. i can't wait to watch banshees of inisherin. it definitely must be a masterpiece. taylor swift has always been such a trailblazer. even if you don't like her music, we have to agree that she's talented and she's an ambitious woman who isn't afraid to try extensions as she says to her music and storytelling. i'm looking forward to her directorial debut with searchlight pictures. GO TAYLOR!!!!!!
she's not talented. she makes flavourless gruel for farm animals' troughs. her art reflects her hyper-bourgeois upbringing and its total artistic and moral vacuity
@@gloverelaxis damn u big mad
I love her little analogies and metaphors
This feels like an English essay, with the detail of Taylor's words, the analysis of the film, and how they both have so much knowledge of both works and bodies of work of the other director. I'm impressed with the talent they both have, and I'm jealous of how effortlessly their talent comes
