While the Fairy type may be the latest addition to the roster, it has certainly made a significant impact on the Pokemon series! Will this change how quickly you can find a Fairy pokemon across the generations though?

Thanks to @Inidar for help with digging into spawn mechanics in Legends Arceus! This allowed me to finally understand why there were 4 Sandgem Flats Mime spawners instead of the 3 currently listed on serebii!
Thanks to bulbapedia, serebii, speedrun.com, and all the amazing speedrunners for the wealth of available pokemon information and world record footage!

Stop using a slow browser and get one that’s the best: operagx.gg/SemaJCh Thanks as always for watching everyone! Would love to hear what you thought about the extras and approach with this challenge given the differing scope! :) Post Watching Corrections: Apologies for my mishap in gen 5! Those of you familiar with the soon to be returning mega mechanic likely know what happened there. 🤣 Luckily, I covered what would be the solution if we forgo the mega logic so feel free to take your pick on that one. It was fun learning more about the phenomena mechanic so hopefully that segment was still enjoyable!
Sorry random KZheadr, I will not use gamer chromium. Get that bread though.
no thanks, Firefox is still good for me.
Opera is the best lmao
Thank you for doing my challenge, @semaJCh !
Please do one on Fire Type without the Fire pokemon starter
Also Audino isn't a Fairy type unless it Mega Evolves, so I think that one's a straight miss
Thanks for catching this! I can already see where I made this mistake! In order to see mons in numerical order and cross check thing during my research phase, I usually reference the 'Category: BLANK-type Pokemon' page on bulbapedia. I was unaware that this lumps the megas type into the base mon if there is a change, but it makes total sense. And I completely forgot that was the case with Audino too! 😂 Anyways, hope you still enjoyed and the answer to black and white is luckily still included in the segment this time!
@@semaJChyou could’ve consider the cottonee line tho since its a grass/fairy type
Was going to say the same thing
@@vitorcorterealso?
@@vitorcorterealYeah, it’s a fairy type so it counts. And base Audino isn’t a fairy type, so it doesn’t count.
I think it would be an interesting side challenge to re-approach these speed catch runs with some special rules, like "Cannot catch the same Pokemon Twice" or "Must be introduced in that Generation"
I second that. It would help make things more interesting
Some of their catching challenges wouldn't be doable, like the ones that just catch a single Pokémon or the Eeveelution challenge where less than half the Generations even have an Eeveelution to choose from, but the type videos could benefit from them.
I personally think that Black 2 and White 2 should always be considered separate from the first ones because they're sequels and not definitive versions. While there's some overlap, the progression is pretty different.
I agree, referring to it as a "definitive edition" or a "remake" is just wrong, because they're 2 vastly different games
Oh Audino... The Normal type that could have been... Audino is only a Fairy Type when it Mega Evolves, so Cottonee is the only option in Black & White... Still an amazing video, though!
Glad you enjoyed still! ;)
How fast can you get a Pseudo Legendary in each game when?
that's an interesting idea
probably Gible in DPPT
What about Frigibax?
@@wholelottanutsNo, it's DEFINITELY bagon in gen 7, as it can be encountered on the first island.
@@ssjbread2803 Unless he uses the stipulation that it has to be the Pseudo for that gen, then it will probably be Frigibax in SV. Once you can leave Mesagoza, you're free to head up to the wild Dark Tera Frigibax up on the mountain. Not sure how soon Jangmo-o can show up in the Gen 7 games, but I doubt it's quicker than Frigibax likely is
You know with HGSS I thought for sure the PokeWalker would offer an extra alternative, only to find that somehow the only stages with fairy types before the national dex were BOTH event exclusive and one required Jirachi and the other required a Japanese-exclusive download. Even accounting for post-national dex stages you need to unlock Warm Beach to finally find a fairy. By the way, I always kind of knew that Alola had so many intro stuff going on but it's pretty impressive that you were at the Wild Area in SWSH within 30 minutes when contrasted with the 40-50 minutes to reach hauli (much less the actual encounters outside the city). It's not a perfect comparison to each other just due to game set ups, but in my mind I always pegged SWSH as even slower for some reason. Related, but being able to ignore the tutorial and go catch other things before doing it in LA also surprised me!
Interesting fact: Johto is the only region who still don't have fairy type pokemon to catch in (still 25 years after its original release)
Cottonee
What?
@@Blue-om9xn He's saying there's not a version of these games made after the Fairy type was introduced
I mean, technically, you can catch Fairy types in the BB Academy which is in Unova
@@Kelthret thanks for the correction, I edited my comment
Oh cool i'l get to see how fast can i catch fairy po- IS THAT A SEPHIROTH?
Audino might not count as a fairy since it only gains the type as a mega but it does at least mean there was some variety besides literally just Cottenee. Also in white where the version exclusive Petilil replaces Cottonee you would have to trade with an NPC in I believe Nacrene city to get Cottenee or trudge all the way to post game to find a fairy.
I fhink the audino should count, you have the 'time' of catching cottonee so it depends on the veiwer wether they count audino. Im glad Mime jr got the spotlight in the Ultra games 😍
Appreciate this mindset on my mishap there, thank you!!! I am glad I got to cover more on the phenomena at least, I had no idea it was locked until that exact moment before this video! Glad you enjoyed the mime segment!😊
Common Mime Jr. W
2:10 It does kinda make you wish they went with the Pokemon Pink idea and allowed for that Clefairy starter as the third counterpart to Pikachu and Eevee.
Doing this with ice or ground would be pretty interesting because in early games (and in some of the later games) they are fairly rare to get quickly.
He already did Ice.
Dang I did not expect Black 2 to win this challenge. Also I don't know if you knew (you probably did) but the four types you did this challenge for already are the four types of Pokémon with the fewest members. Also also, how about a video of "How fast can you catch a mega pokemon in each game (excluding starters)" (Cause if you included starters the time for Red would be 'yes')
Same got Gen 3 man
Gen 1 and 3 might be close in fastest time because of Pidgey/Weedle and Ralts. Gen 2 is early with Headbut and Gen 4 is before the 2nd gym
If you want another suggestion for a pokemon type to do this kind of challenge with, I think Steel type would be interesting! It's one of the weirdest pokemon types to me, since some games have them relatively early, while some games barely have any steel types until late game! Or at least it feels that way. Which is kinda why I think it'd be interesting to see a Steel Type catching challenge!
Great video as always. Love seeing these pop up in my push notifications. 🤙
Thanks as always Transient! Stoked you enjoyed! :D
Forgot to mention the one major advantage ORAS has over RSE: The fairies are already fairy-type without having to trade them to a future generation :P Anyway, one video idea would be "how fast can you get a legendary Pokemon"? Although I don't know whether the answer varies enough to be interesting. (Or whether the Magaerna QR code should count or not.)
The magearna QR code doesn't even work until after the elite four, so Solgaleo/lunala still wins in vanilla SuMo
these videos are so cozy, thanks for the upload
Thanks for watching and glad you enjoyed! :)
This was a fun one to watch, its neat to see what types are easier or harder to get
Can't believe you didn't include Pokemon Typing Adventure, now we'll never know how fast you can type out a fairy type!
He Also Forgot About Pokemon Mystery Dungeon!
I love your videos, and always eagerly watch them when they come out. This was super informative and soothing, as ever!
Jokes on you, I'm ALREADY watching on Opera, and my computer still bluescreens every three days!
I absolutely ADORE these videos of yours on "how fast can you get..." Please keep them up!🥰
Thanks so much, really glad you enjoy them!
fairy type is the best type imo
real
Ahh yes, my favorite pastime of browsing Yu-Gi-Oh magazines in the GX Corner on Opera 😘 Another banger as always! This man does not miss 😤
I knew you would appreciate that part! ;)
Yesss a new video!
7:17 *the second evolution for togepi, togekiss
Glad to hear another yu-gi-oh video is coming out, loved this one as well, enjoyed the streamlining with the remake skips.
I was going to say Cottonee line are the only fairy types in Gen 5 sadly but I still love the video. Audino is only fairy when mega But also love your dialogue “as normal as azurill’s former typing” i liked that lol❤
But azurill is still a normal type tho, isnt it?
@@turkoositerapsidi yes but it’s not in the base games until post game
@@Pop5chan Yes I know, it isnt the first fairy you can get in the game, but it did not lose its norm type when it was made a fairy type in later games, so normal is also its current typing, not only former.
@@turkoositerapsidi yeah that’s why I said I liked the statement lol
@@Pop5chan Thanks for explaining it.
An idea for this is would be how fast you can get a grass water and fire type excluding the starters
Audino isn't a fairy type outside of its mega, which isn't available in BW/B2W2. So you'd have to redo that one.
I mean, to be fair, the Fairy type itself isn't available in BW/B2W2 lol.
@@MarioMamTess like the 4 gens before. There are 3 retroactive fairy type families in the dex, this clearly was just a blunder. To be clear, a very understandable blunder... there's basically zero reason for Audino not having been made into a fairy type, *especially* since its mega was.
Bro is 🤓☝️
I'm pretty sure ralts is also in the rolling fields on overcast with a small chance tho
Here's an interesting idea for a challenge: how fast can you get a fully evolved Pokemon in a game, or more specifically a fully evolved Bug-Type as usually early game Bugs evolve pretty fast. (Good luck with Unova for Bugs specifically)
Pfft, try Vikavolt. Base SuMo has you needing to go all the way to Vast Poni Canyon which is in the early to mid 40's. Otherwise its just as hard to get as Leavanny and Scolipede in terms of level
I will wait steel Pokemon from every Pokemon game video
I know you can find Fidough pretty early in SV - would be interested to see if they're close enough to avoid another Azurill catch.
Just for fun, I would have loved to see if getting Poplio to it's final stage would have been faster😂
another absolute banger thank you king
Thank you!!!!
I had no idea you could actually get Jigglypuff in Johto. I thought for sure it was a postgame Mon.
I would love to see this with the fighting or psychic types
Hope this series continues with every type⭐️⭐️
Thanks for the support, I have been enjoying making them and plan to continue! :)
Probably not fire/water/grass...
@@MrCheeze yeah bug, flying and normal would also probably not be the most entertaining but the rest I hope we see in the future:)
In early Sun and Moon you can find a Igglybuff or other fairys using the SOS mechanic .... I think ? Don't know if it's faster
Audino is once again causing a controvery, the likes of which havent been seen since she became the only Gen 5 mon with a Mega smh.
Love this XD
I accidentally ran over shiny Azurill in the beginning of my Violet playthrough so I figured it was going to be the one for Paldea
The thumbnail is looking kinda sus, not gonna lie. Great video, as always. I quite like fairy-types, they have some of the goofiest designs ever. Also, compared to the utter insanity you went through in the dragon-type video, I'd say this was way more tame as challenge lol.
Hahaha as soon as I started thinking of the fairy type video I knew we had to make it this way after how people took the sylveon thumbnail. XD Thanks so much Gordon! Totally agree with you on the scope of this one! :D
When it comes to type rarity, Electric is next before a tie for steel, rock, and ground. Curious to see which you do first
Wrong. Togetic was available in gen 2. Gen 4 included Togekiss.
What the song playing during the ruby / sapphire / emerald part?
Does Sylveon evolve through friendship in LA? I thought he only needs fairy type move (like charm) and level up.
How about the most boring catching challenge: Normal types? It should be relatively simple, could probably post it for April fools.
7:17 don't you mean togekiss?
Lots of Azurill in this one. I also thought it was weird that it was normal type.
The Thumbnail 😳😳😳
Bulbasaur is the best gen 1 and gen 1 remake to go with especially because he gets sleep powder
Bro, do you play Skullgirls by any chance? Cause at 5:21, it sounds like "Pick of the litter."
Love fairy type!!!
Ralts is easy to obtain in Hoenn games since its found before your first gym battle.
Isn't that what he repeated many times during the video?
how about one another iconic pokemon "how fast can you catch zubat?" or magikarp
Did you know that jigglipuff is a fairy type too
Last commonly late game type is steel so I think we will get the video out of it
Gardevoir couch scene???
In both Gen 7 games would Popplio be considered a faster Pokemon to get? Since its final evolution Primarina becomes part Fairy type.
Is using the Magearna QR code faster than the Cutiefly in SM?
dark type would be crazy for frlg
Will be interesting for sure!
5% lost cave murkrow FR exclusive For Leaf Green I can only think of tyranitar from sevii Islands
@@sceptile2794 For Leaf Green Sneasel on the Island's 4 ice cave
I think the Gen 5 fans were more upset at Legends Z-A than the Gen 2 ones from what I've seen. 😂 They really wanted their remakes.
If you count audino as a fairy because of mega audino then you should count Poplio as a fairy too
Agreed
10:53 Bw2 is not a definitive edition tho
Maybe steel type next?
btw at 7:19 you called togeKISS, as togeTIC
i am going to be that guy and say um actually..., audino isn't a fairy type. Mega audino is, but they aren't available in gen 5. So for black and white, they shouldn't count. The only fairy types in that game are cottonee and whimsicott, in the inner area of the pinwheel forest at a 35% catch rate for cottonee (or a 5% rate in rustling grass for whimsicott). So even later than black and white 2, but still. This is ony the case for black. For white you first have to catch a petilil and trade it with the npc for a cottonee in Nacrene city.
Please do how fast can you get a Pokemon that has a mega evolution next. 😀
7:17 Yo I didn't know Togetic was a Gen 4 mon!
About half the Sinnoh dex is variations on existing Pokemon
@@thekiss2083 The joke is that the Gen 4 mon is TogeKISS, not TogeTIC
Hello! We need a steel type video. You think that'll work?
Im no expert on pokemon, but i have a feeling the fastest one will be scarlet and violet.
Why have they not just made an Ice-type leader the first or second leader? Seems like an easy choice.
Don't know if you want to branch to this series but just throwing it out there: How fast can you get a gun in every Yakuza game?
audino isnt a fairy right?
you couldve easily counted primarina as your fairy-type for sun and moon + the ultra versions. 😭
But... But audino and azurill are normal types... Like it's ok if you do it once with azurill I guess but you caught it like in 4 different games...
Azuril is normal/fairy
@@Giga-lemesh omg thats true lmao
How fast can I catch feels for semaj? (It's sub 0.1sec in every playthrough...)
PLEASE! XD
Audino doesn't count, and technically you have to evolve auzuril for it to become a fairy, so all of those would take extra time.
For Azurill, that's actually false. Azurill (from Gen 6 onward) is a Normal/Fairy type! I get how you could make that mistake since it keeps it's normal typing, but it is a fairy type as well.
FAIRIES HAVE BEEN PART OF POKEMON FOR 11 YEARS???
How fast can you get a mon to level 100 in each game?
Mawile is not available in Sapphire so Ralts is probably best
Normal is still azurill's typing. they were never a water type.
You said sinnoh introduced togetic not togekiss
I still stand against Gardevoir being made a fairy type
Uhm Audino isn't even a fairy type outside of its mega form
Audino is a normal psychic right?
Normal. Just normal
@olafmikoaj3121 figured, i just remembered it was supposed to replace chancy and it didnt work lol. Its Indeedee im thinking about
How Fast Can You Get Mawile In Each Game… Still Salty Mawile Isn’t In S/V
Can I have mega comfey and lapras
How fast can you catch a dark pokemon
FAIRNESS
Are we not talking about the thumbnail?
neat
I got one in 3m
Haven't seen anyone mentioning it yet, but Pikachu became fairy type too, so technically you instantly win in yellow and let's go once you get your starter.
erm, actually, it's togekiss, get it right!!!!!!! (joke)
Thanks for being funny with it!;D just for that, I will let you know I re-recorded this line and legit said the same thing AGAIN and didn’t notice 😂
@@semaJCh now thats crazy!
Mr. Mime is a fairy type?
Psychic-Fairy
Refers to b2w2 as definitive versions and usum as sequels. Bruh.
Not saving this one for Pride Month? smh
That's a great point XD I was trying to think what would be good for spring that was in the list of more requested types but June would have been great too! Anyways, hope you still enjoyed! :)
@@semaJCh I did! Maybe for pride month you could redo it but only include Pokemon unique to that generation? (And no megas, they are not real, obtainable pokemon you can actually have in your party) so Gen 1 doesn't change but Gen 2 you have to do Togepi, 4 you have to do Mime Jr or Togekiss, Gen V Cottonee?
