Enter coupon code SEMAJCH for an extra 3 months free at surfshark.deals/semajch Update: Currently, the community has helped correct that I did extend gen 7's run with my incorrect conclusion, luckily the mon does not change at the moment! Should save around 30 minutes of the top of my head though! Read the next comment for further details (didn't want to spoil it 🤣). Thanks for watching everyone! As you might be able to tell, this video was a huge endeavor and I really gave myself a new challenge here in terms of complexity and design. I would love to hear what you think and take that forward as I work on some new projects and of course more pokemon challenges! ;D
Catch every single fairy tyoes in every game(or going to be fairy types because of gen 6)
Why did you choose to bike for the trapinch instead of getting rare candies, when you could have simply done both and collected it at the perfect level to use the collected candies?
4:50 "...this takes the world record an hour and 20 minutes past Goldenrod." I played Gold and Silver way back in the day, but don't know anything about speed running. Can someone explain to me what this sentence meant?
23:45 u can catch a noibat in the firat trials cave
Guys I have a theory 🥚👨🦲
Regarding the Noibat in Ultra Sun and Moon, couldn't you just catch a Noibat in Verdant cavern after the totem Gumshoos/Raticate?
This 100%
Also in SM you can capture a 60% Deino in Ten Carat Hill if you use Island Scan on Tuesdays.
Thanks for the catch everyone! It's so funny as I thought I had fixed my Ice video mistake by noticing a trade option that could beat the expected route, yet that pokemon was already right in front of me. 🤣 Can you tell I had never played USUM before starting the series. 😆 Thanks for watching and catching this!!!
I'd never forget the Verdant Cavern spawns. Got a shiny Noibat there by pure luck, and it went in with a mere Beast Ball on Turn 1. Still use it to this day.
@@Spiritnickthat’s dope
I still can't believe gen 7 gives you a level 7 Salamence at the start of the game
You have to survive it tho. Not that easy
Not as bad as BDSP giving mew and Jirachi At least Salamence takes both luck and skill instead of just mashing A
You would literally never find it unless you already knew tbh
I hunted a minimum level one and found a shiny before it appeared. Didn't continue my playthrough until I got it
@@dislexycone requires prior games the other doesn’t
4:20 Well, now I know how I was able to get three jackpots in a row while waiting for my flight twenty years ago.
😂
* 5:26
I went into this video thinking it'd just be an explanation of the earliest a dragon type can be caught in a casual run, I didn't expect this speedrun format at all.
Same here 😂 I still watched it because of how interesting the speedrun world is to me, I've never played like this.
Good ol' cliff skipping. I reckon a good challenge will be to see how fast it is to catch a Magnemite in each game since I'm pretty sure they're in every game like Psyduck.
would be cool but magnemites are only found in spacetime distortions in legends arceus, although there are magnezones that can spawn outside of them
@@skittlesilly that wouldn't be too awful, it'd only take like an hour and a half to get to the coastlands
First BW games only have them in post-game i think.
@@mr.pickle6487 my guess is that he'll just use b2w2 and skip over the first games, since that's what he usually does
For an april's fools joke, he should do a "how quickly can you get a Glameow" or something, a Pokémon exactly available in (shining) pearl, hidden grottos in W2, and mirage spots, and LA. Infamously one of the most unavailable pokémon, ever. Less meme-y, would be fun to do a "how fast can you get a dog/cat/mouse pokémon in each game" or something, which is more varied.
About the Trapinch daycare, wouldn't you also shave off some time while hunting the rare candies? If you catch it before going to get Surf and collect candies, you would still gain exp while doing all of those things, right? Or did you already calculate those in and I just missed it?
Thanks a bunch for bringing this up! I went back and forth on including this but wasn't quite able to find a good way to incorporate this and felt it might further confuse people. Quick Answer: The trapinch is always in the daycare during this and that does mean the 'surf candy' route will always be very close and potentially beat the bike route, but that's only if you have WR level luck on those strats. SO, originally, I had routed the 'surf for candies' strat without the final candy near the abandoned ship (not realizing it was quick to obtain). In this case, the final time difference is about 2 minutes slower (instead of the final 30 seconds shown). I had the same thought as you from the start, do we need to worry about the traveling of game progression. With 2 minutes being the difference, we certainly wouldn't, but with the final 30 seconds (~430 exp by our rate) we probably do. However, what I would have explained in this section is that I am using an unrealistic comparison for the gym 5 section. That portion requires item prep and is much more difficult when you don't have a perfect starter (which we don't do for these runs). Thus, you are more than likely to lose additional time going this route than what is shown. So I felt it was proper to chose the biking route given the constraints we follow for these runs. :D Hope that helps! Thanks a ton paying so much attention to the details! :)
@@semaJCh Ah I was confused why you didn't bring up the exp gained while getting the candies x3
It wasn't until this video that I learned that this particular slot machine in the gen 2 games can actually be unoccupied. I must have played through those games over 40 times but apparently I never went to the casino early enough to witness this NPC being gone.
Dear God that Gen 2 game corner part was absurd, you were right about that lol. Anyway, nice video as always. This went about as I expected... Dragon types can be a doozie.
LOL you knew it! ;) Thank you as always for the support Gordon!!! I had no idea how hard this one would be, but I was excited to share the journey with everyone!!!
Can you not just time the 7s? It is very consistent so you just have to get a rhythm in your head.
Sadly no! If you watch the footage closely, you can see that the game will always cheat you out of a 7 if you don't have the bias! You can see it very quickly in the video or give it a shot yourself. XD
I will say, in ScarVio, you can catch an Applin in South Province Area 1, however the odds of finding one are astronomically low, at least in my experience, especially since you have to spot it hanging in a bloody tree. And it tiny.
Technically speaking you could get it quickly through Dragon Encounter but that’s still pretty hard
You can also cheese and glitch into area 5 and encounter Axew pretty early
Technically once you get done with tutorial area you can go straight into DLC area and get a bunch there
@@nlif6443 Y'ain't wrong. Unfortunately that requires sitting through an extra hour of talking.
Hoping that watching this while playing Crystal will manifest a win in the Bug Catching Contest. Need a Sun Stone 🤞
Well? Did you get the sun stone?

If the spinoffs were included, PMD Gates to Infinity would hands down be the fastest game to get a dragon in. Axew is a starter there.
>starter Much like mentioned for S/V, it probably doesnt count
@@higueraft571 Well in SV it's more so because you don't have have the pokemon to use in battle, and I believe it doesn't get it's dex entry either.
You can sell the Charcoal in Azalea for 4900 which should save a bit of time
Exactly my thought and shouldn't be a noticiable time loss
This is a good catch, thank you! At bare minimum, it would let us skip the spearow related reward (guessing this is the slowest single ~5k item) and might save around a minute or so if I had to guess (traveling is slower at this point since we don't have the bike). :)
In gen 8, God forbid Goomy get some love! Don't you disrespect our little gooey dragon.
@PurpleBoi622 Goomy gang RISE UP!!!
Worse Hydreigon lmao
@@goldenhydreigon4727💀
You can get noibat verdant cavern. So you just made the run longer
I never knew how much you could optimise the loot in Red/Blue to get a Dratini. I came for a filler video while i was waiting the pasta to boil, but it was actually very useful, thank you! 💪🏻
So glad you enjoyed, thanks for the kind words! Hope the pasta was good! 😌
Filler video lol
You're an absolute madlad for trying this, I guessed the final times would be long and wasn't surprised.
oh yeah this series kicks ass i’m watching the hell outta this
Thanks so much! Stoked you enjoy! 😊
It's honestly hilarious that I keep forgetting Baxcalibur is the Paldean regional dragon type. The mon is sadly not that memorable.
It is if you care about the metagame. It’s a fucking beast
Great video! Rather than a scroll of the results, I'd love to see a bar graph comparing all of the final times.
Gap hopping is exactly why I ran a dragon playthough immediately after finishing Violet
You finessed me with that SurfShark transition.
if DLC raids are considered, shouldn't trades be then?
Smoothest ad transition that I've seen in a while, kudos.
Thank you!!! 😊😊😊
Lots of complicated things in this video. It was very nice to see all the ways to find dragons!
For Gen2, if you can catch a Meowth, spamming Payday will help a little with getting the money you need lol.
The use of speedrun splits made this video way more interesting than I was expecting.
Absolute top tier music choices.
These are so randomly fun to watch!! Great, great work!
I genuinely loved this video and that you looked at all the possibilities!!
Amazing video as always, thank you for the great content!😍 Glad to see Hoenn getting the screen time it deserves 😎 Can’t wait to see what’s next!
You’re too nice Lambo thank you! Glad I could give Hoenn some more interesting screen time finally!!! 🫡🫡🫡
İ assume red time can be faster by losing on purpose to rocket member on nugget bridge since he gives one at the start of every fight and losing the fight gives you another again
So, what I’m hearing is that gen 2 slots are basically a JJK domain expansion.
The intermission was so good, i liked and subed right there.
I can see all the work you put into this video. Good job!
Really appreciate that, thank you!!!
Couldn't in Ruby/Sapphire couldn't u use a Zigzagoon squad for pick-up to get rare candies though that's more random. Nevermind as this was covered
Ah, Pokémon nerd shit. My absolute favorite.
i wasn't expecting rivals music in a pokemon vid, but i dig it
I knew going into this video some games it would take an obscene amount of time or effort to get a Dragon type. They really made you work for it.
Dude, this is such a cool format. Very thorough, and totally left-field speedrun strats. Consider me subbed. Keep it up, my guy.
Thanks a ton for the kind words and support, glad you enjoyed!! 😊
Dude, whoever does your editing is fantastic.
I really try my best on it, thank you! 😊
Watching your videos are great and inspires me to speed run games again
For Axew in X and Y, you can also get it at a 5% chance in a horde encounter. With Horde Encounters, you could force them via Sweet Scent or Honey. Being able to force encounters like that, even with the lowered percentage, I feel like this method would have been a faster way to get to that Axew
u using the rivals of aether ost made me so happy me and my bro used to play all the time i heard the music and was like hey wait amin ik this!!!!
10:06 You might be the first person to actually make this delivery in 20 years
Love this comment, thank you 🤣
About this time last year, I did a Professor Oak's challenge on every mainline game and yeah, gen 7 gives you dragons IMMEDIATELY
"Overpowered" Is subjective
I never knew that about Gen 2's game corner. Well no wonder they removed it in the remakes. This video is actually pretty useful for my non randomizer runs. I always feel like you never really get to use the dragons without having to rearrange your team and grind.
When I was a kid, in my second playthrough of the game, I decided I wanted to have dragonite. I had dragonite before Erika (because I grinded wild pokemon)
I remember asking for this video in the comments months ago! :O (in the Eeveelutions vid iirc)
I 100% thought this was also going to go over glitches for each game as those can speed things up. Kinda interesting to see it be glitchless though.
I'd like to see fire types excluding the starter, I think there's something there. Maybe fighting types too. I think so of them would be within 10-20 minutes but some game would require you to play like halfway through or more
im not sure about the exact collection up to whitney in gen 2 but did you grab the charcoal it sells for quite alot
I think you should also do the other remakes, not just Let's Go, because some of them changed thins quite a bit and it would be fun to see if it's faster or slower to get Dragon type in them. But as a Dark type fan, I am surely looking and hoping that you will do a Dark type version of this video. That would be fun for me.
I think there might be potential to get a dragon type sooner in OR/AS than the original games. Since you have to beat Flannery to get Trapinch anyway and evolving Trapinch takes 20 minutes, it might be possible to get your rival to escort you to Petalburg, blitz through Norman's gym, and grab the gift Lati twin within that time. Also you shave off time by not needing to seek out Trapinch in the first place.
Uhh why is the comments glitched?
Man, that 1% grass patch at Ultra Sun is the one grass patch I won't forget because after idk how much time I finally got Deadwing the Bagon for my team. He quite the beast at the end, but damn I won't forget the time I've spent. P.S. Can you do a How fast can you get a Fighting or Psychic type next? Thanks for the video.
Hey man, I was wondering how you capture your footage during your monologue. All the anime clips and game clips etc.
Your video is very well edited.
Cool video. Worth noting for black/white 2 join avenue shops can sometimes stock rare candies or level up training which could potentially further speed things up
I guess this more or less lines up with my request for a the first psuedo legendary. Great video
I'm pretty sure this is slower in terms of getting a dragon because it's a bit later into the games but in B2/W2 you can actually find Trapinch a level 32-34 outside the cave in the grass at Reversal Mountain. I know this because Flygon is my favorite Dragon-Type Pokemon and I had one on my first playthrough of B2/W2. I got really lucky and just happened to encounter one at level 34. One level and bam, Vibrava! If you want Flygon on your B2/W2 playthrough this is the better place to catch one since its moves are still great and it's easy to evolve.
This entire video was worth it for the slot machine stuff alone. I never bothered gambling in the Game Corner as a kid. So I had no idea those animation existed or that, that guy leaves that slot machine in the mornings, or that a lucky mode exists and that his is always lucky. 24-ish years later and I still am learning new things about my favorite games. I give you my serious and genuine thanks for showing me there are still some mysteries left.
That means a ton to hear! I was really tempted to make a video just on the game corner after that all came up. I would like to explore doing more specific deep dive videos on particular topics in the franchise (and others) so it’s super helpful to have your feedback. Thanks for watching!!!:)
@@semaJCh thank you for giving me something so cool to watch. I feel like this one especially had a very broad appeal. It is focused enough on the core concept you set out to achieve in the video, but also had that wonderful Game Corner side tangent which people with my similar ADHD spider brain loves so much. Though being somewhat tangential it also served to uphold the core topic by explaining the pros and cons of each possible path. It's really impressive how well you're able to both balance and focus something so winding and low-key complex. I hope you're really proud of this, because you really should be. I'm patiently excited to see how your content continues to evolve, and I'm looking forward to the day when your channel blows up. Take care.
I caught an applin right after going into the wild area for the first time so I would’ve thought it’d be that
I love Dragonite in Pokemon Emerald Kaizo because its 4x weakness to ice is nerfed to 2x weakness with the Thick Fat ability, and Dragonite is a powerful legendary too! I love Dragonite, he's my top favorite dragon of all time, and great design too!
I love how the first part is teaching us about gambling
I dont know if you count events or not, but if you bought the double pack of Sword/Shield, there was a QR code to get Jangmo'o in Sword from a raid den as soon as you reach the wild area (if i recall correctly)
Hey do you mind linking the videos/articles referenced somewhere in the description (ie: Crystal_'s video on slot machine mechanics in 2nd gen)?
Thanks for catching this! I totally meant to have those in the description but got lost with so many finishing touches. XD I have added Crystal_ and link's to both Vivian and Anubis' work! :)
Do you need a dual screen to play older Pokemon games? Or could I (not) emulate them on the RG35XX plus?
Do you think you could do How Fast You Can Catch a Pseudo in Each Game next? I want to see how long Deino would take. Plus, it could finally give Bagon time to shine in Alola and Kalos as well as Goomy in Galar
Or how fast can you get a 600bst+ pkm
Wow, even for a speedrun these Pokemon sure take some time to get them.
There's a guaranteed Goomy spawn in the swap in Scarlet and Violet. I'm pretty sure you can make your way over there without needed to do any skips since in my first play through I went over there for Watrel early on. Not 100% certain about that, but it should be checked out none the less. There's also a Garchomp near Larry's gym that is a guaranteed spawn. I don't know if either would be faster to get, but they're options.
Quick question, for gen 3 why are you factoring those first 3 candies seperately when the other 7 are bundled? Also, couldnt you switch the script on the debatable one by putting that as the last level and the other that took "seconds" as the second to last?
love your editing man, keep it up 🔥🔥
Thanks a ton, I really enjoy putting my all into it and hope it helps enhance the videos/stories! :)
@@semaJCh it definitely does! I usually listen to videos in the background while doing something else, but yours had me not wanting to look away 😆 really kept my attention, great stuff!
I totally know what you mean, I always have a backlog of videos saved that I need to make sure I actually get to watch. XD Thanks again for the support snaps! :)
In x and y you can always get axew by using the horde method so if you have sweet scent or honey it can be faster
bagon being on the first route in SV is just going against my gen 3 mind. you supposed to be a in one room after the 8th gym mon, they did the same thing in X and Y and sun and moon. they become so accessible
In Pokemon Sword, one of the first Pokemon I caught was a Noibat from the Den next to the Tail Slap TM.
3:30 Nuggets are 5000, you're listing as 2400.
How about for a future challenge you see how long it takes to catch a Legendary in every Pokémon game? Legendaries used to be these super rare and seemingly endgame rewards, but nowadays there are so many! Like in RB I would suspect the fastest would be either Zapdos or Articuno, while I know in some categories of GS Raikou is actually part of the pathing. Would be interesting to see with how they add so many extra Legendaries if it actually gets faster in later games to catch one.
Dude this is really solid content! you can tell the amount of effort and thought that went into it!
Regarding the gen 3 games, wouldn’t it be fastest to put the trapinch in the daycare and then grab some of the surf candies while it still passively levels up from the movement to the candies? Or would the steps taken to grab all those candies be too insignificant to matter?
the ape escape soundtrack
Late, but the shadow Pokémon games make the dragon type decently available. Colosseum let’s you catch a Swablu in the first dungeon of the game which can evolve pretty soon after if you play your cards right, and Gale of Darkness lets you get Trapinch on rare occasions in the early game if your lucky enough. Trapinch is a pain to evolve up to Vibrava in that game though.
Now that is a question worthy of a video answer
in ruby and sapphire you should use zigzagoons for pickup to spam farm rare candies you usually get 1-2 candies per 4-5 killed mob with 5 zigzagoons.
I managed to get a raid den Dreepy on Sword in my first playthrough, right at the start, and my pals told me it was a rare encounter but I don't know. It was raining and the closest den to the train I think. Just along the same wall.
Bro in ultra sun and moon you can catch noibat immediately after the first trial you don't need to go to route 5 and trade you can just catch it there
In gen 3 just fill up your party with zigzagoons and they will find rare candy's for u.
I dont know if this should even be considered a route to take, but couldnt you faint to the nugget guy on the bridge and get nuggets over and over again? Because he gives them at the start of the fight you could just use a super weak Pokemon, get it, faint near instantly and repeat. Do that a total of 10-11 times (depending on how much money you will earn afterwards) and you got it in the bag, just with a few minutes spent. Edit: Nevermind, I just assumed it would take longer over the safari zone but the game corner wins either way
Misread the title and thought it was 'How fast can you get every dragon type pokemon?'
For leveling trapinch, could it be placed in the daycare after getting it so the time spent getting candies is time spent gaining XP? In theory the only time that isn't recouped is the few seconds you can't move when picking up candies, activating surf, and fighting mandatory battles.
you forget that in ruby and saphire pickup can give rare candy at any level. so if we take one pokemon for fighting and 5 zigzagoon, we can stack up enough rare candy to evolve trapinch immediatly
Great work, love the vid as always!
Long live Vongola! 🤘🏻
Finally, a video where the only goal is to get a Vibrava. (at least for part of the video)
Best feeling is when you spend ur time in route 3 pokemon USUM just want to find bagon. If you can, trade a pokemon with friend while ur pokemon friend holding adrenaline orb. Viola you will get very low lvl salamence in sos battle before fighting kahuna Hala. Truly best feeling ❤
I think how quickly you can get a pseudo legendary would be a fun video
Although out dated as the site is shut down, you could get druddigon and axew from the dream site minigame (i think it was called dream world) making it faster than the one suggested in BW i believe. From memory the site was quick to play and get a pokemon although it was random, so not reliable to do it faster, but it was possible i got druddigon really early back then like before the 3rd gym.
really like this type of videos, i don't usually comment videos but here's my attempt of showing appreciation to a creator 😅
That means a ton and helps support my work, thanks a bunch! 😊
There is a corner where you can have a 0.2% chance to get a lv 50 bagon in the moon cave in Ruby. It was patched in emerald.
Ooh Dragon. I was kinda hoping to see Heart Gold/Soul Silver since the Game Corner is so different. I sometimes come back to the game just to play Voltorb Flip lol
I didn't realize in sun that you can get bagon on the first island, nabbed that bad boy real quick
