  • I see this fight in much the same way I saw the Fiziev VS Gaethje fight, post fact ... I'm not gonna disregard the older , wiser and more experienced Fighter THIS time .

    • There isn't too many things about DP that someone who understands MMA could criticize; but the veteran is getting up there in age. BSD is way too strong & is way too well rounded. He said he's been wrestling seriously only since 2019-20. There is noway Dustin's going to be able to wrestle against BSD.... given BSD's elite Judo. Even elite Greco Roman wrestlers have a tough time against elite Judo, because Judo guys are much more refine with their balancing work. Chandler is an elite/D1 wrestler; but he doesn't have an elite Judo background. Dustin had no problem with Chandler's superior D1 wrestling. On the ground, Dustin is a skilled BJJ guy, too; but I just don't see him outmaneuvering BSD, either, as he did outmaneuver Michael Chandler. I think BSD's one lack feature is that he isn't the fastest or most agile. He just comes at you with intention to hurt. Dustin COULD hurt him with Dustin's elite boxing. But if that doesn't work out in the first two rounds, I see no way for Dustin to win.... again, given his age, where he really is irreversibly exiting his prime, at the most skilled division in all of the UFC.... P.S. watch the BSD-Dos Santos fight. A much bigger, stronger guy in Dos Santos empty his gas tank on beating the crap out of the former French Special Forces guy and he couldn't put him down! Dos Santos had to take a decision win. That's how tough BSD is and he didn't get into pro MMA until 2019 (he fought & lost to Dos Santos 2021).

  • Sorry but I just think the gatekeeper question is such a stupid and pointless one. Ofcourse if you've been around awhile you're going to have to fight some different guys and ofcourse some of those guys will be newer arrivals or guys making their way up the ranking more recently. You're not going to fight the same 3 guys your entire career. You may want to like Poirier but obviously if you're around the top for years and fighting with any kind of regularity, it's just not possible. This shouldn't even be a conversation. It should just be an accepted reality. Youre only being used as a stepping stone if you think it's somehow a very unfavorable matchup and you really don't have a good chance of winning. Otherwise just go out n win and it takes care of itself. You'll be respected more for taking it and still get plenty of credit for beating an up and coming beast like St Denis.

  • Im a huge fan of "The Diamond". He was my favorite fighter starting ng at before the lead up to him and mac. I think this fight is really good tbh. You got tier 1 DP with experience and wisdom faced off against a hungry and is going to eat Saint Denis. I think Saint Denise wins if he is super aggressive attacking quickly with authority opening up a KO or opportunity to quickly setup a new path of attack confusing DP im the chaos. Dustin wins if he plays his game and doesnt let Denise overwhelm him. Its going to be a great match.

Dan hardy was a middle of the pack UFC fighter back in the time when the roaster wasn't that strong, that still is a great achievement btw because many didn't make it that far, it gives Dan a different perspective but doesn't automatically make his opinion more valid. However, the MMA guru's predictions are more accurate than Dan's so he could maybe learn something from the guru even if it's a different perspective.
