  • Been watching Jax progress for a few years now... We may have a future Olympics Gold medal champion while still wrestling in College competing for a National Championship within years of each other. God bless Jax in all that he puts his mind to and good luck in your goal to be an Olympic Champion and an NCAA National Champion!! Love you brother.

Which is huge for a HS sophomore…he will get man handled in the Olympic trials…these dudes are high pedigree. Thomasello is a solid college wrestler, he isn’t a solid freestyle wrestler. • Couple takeaways for me from his smashing of the field: Looked like Turner was hurt almost immediately, something in his ribs. With how he mollywhopped Tomasello I'm not sure it would have mattered though. I haven't looked at Tomasello's matches in a while, but are long and lanky good opponents just really bad matchups for him? On paper he should have dominated that match physically being the seemingly more muscled wrestler but Jax just brutalized him physically. That said it bodes well for Jax assuming he stays healthy that he's able to wrestle for a full match at that pace (the Rodriguez match before he blew it open) and able to matchup and out muscle the short stocky guys. Good for him, hope he continues to do well.

  • Here is what is difficult to understand. People are always saying, "Speed and skill will beat strength." Ok. But the older wrestler is very good, just not as good. But the older wrestler has had time to really build some serious strength,while the high school kid hasn't.

    @Vincentovich89@Vincentovich89Ай бұрын
    • It's so funny how, when I watch folkstyle I am constantly thinking of the freestyle rules that could be implemented to the improve the product, but then I watch freestyle and all I can think about is the folkstyle rules that could be implemented to improve the product. The rules/scoring for both styles have multiple OBVIOUS shortcomings that could be mostly fixed by merging the two into a hybrid ruleset.

    • That's France 57kg guy. Don't know why he has his singlet. Maybe exchange singlets on a international competition?

      @anklepick9524@anklepick9524Ай бұрын
    • @@anklepick9524 I don't think they exchange them but in long tourneys you do see sometimes someone making it late into the tourney end up wearing another singlet. Usually that's because of blood or something but as we could see Jax hadn't been on the mat long enough to sweat let alone bleed. A couple years ago Suriano wore Nashon Garret's singlet during the US Open I think. If I remember correctly it was actually while wrestling Garret which made it weird. In that case it was because Suriano didn't have the other color singlet available but it happens for other reasons too.

    @OurFamilyAndFriends@OurFamilyAndFriendsАй бұрын
  • The rules of wrestling have been changed over the years to make it a lot easier to score. And in my opinion, it has not been a good change. It is way too easy to score now. They immediately award points to whomever initiates the move regardless of whether the technique is sloppy. Back then takedowns were 1 point only and the most you could score in one move was 3. Under the rules I used to wrestle, the first throw against Tomasello would have been only 2 points. Here they gave him 4. When a tech fall is a 10 point advantage, that is a big difference. Now a wrestler can make a couple of mistakes and it’s match over. I may be in the minority but I don’t like that. In my day matches could be slow and low scoring which wasn’t exciting so a change was due, but now I think they went too far in the other direction. I wish they could find a compromise somehow.
