  • For me, lossless scaling framegen starts working really well at +40fps base. LS framegen from 60fps base to 120fps feels absolutely magical!

    @Ra896@Ra89614 күн бұрын
    • This is because 40fps is actually half way to 60fps in terms of frame times. Also LSFG 2.0 is a huge improvement

  • Lossless Scaling works so much better at my Ally than FG. In Mafia DE and DS 3 its working wonders. Mafia runs at 30 fps and highest Details and Lossless does not generate artifacts, or are rarely noticable. FG disabling in motion kills it for me. Image Quality is really important for me and Lossless does it suprisingle well

  • I consider AMD's frame gen to be unusable on the ROG ally due to the massive added input lag and the Ally's generally not super high starting framerate. A lot of people seem happy with it, though.

    • I completely agree. I tried playing Cyberpunk with an FSR3 mod even, doing 30 fps to 60 fps and the input delay was so terrible for that game, I couldn't even drive properly or aim quickly. It is much better just playing with a 30 fps cap. Also tried 60 fps to 120 fps which worked better, but didn't add any responsiveness. Most people doing frame gen are people who don't care about game responsiveness and just want the game to look smoother, but the reason I want high fps is for better responsiveness, not for simply a smooth screen.

    • @@snakeface5652frame generation simply can’t improve input lag (quite the opposite), it just adds smoothness and some artifacts. The technique is usable at 30fps, better to use above 60 fps. It adds that 120 Hz screen smoothness that you can’t achieve at 60 fps. But REAL 120 Hz it’s another history.

  • I think it sucks. I mean you can pretty much only look at the game for it to work. If you move too fast or rotate the camera it stops working and the game will just jojo up and down in fps. Its terrible

    @XxPetexXx@XxPetexXx14 күн бұрын
    • Your point is flawed. In fast motion everything is a blur anyways, so FPS in that split second is not relevant. As soon as you stop the fast camera motion then the FPS goes straight back up. And these silly guys is using it on a 35 FPS base, which is ridiculous.

      @DwaynedaGamer@DwaynedaGamer14 күн бұрын
    • @@DwaynedaGamer Its not just on "fast motion" tho is it? The image basically has to be still for it to work. Its completely meaningless since virtually no games are still images. And its not a split second either. The fps will be at its base value for as long as there is action on screen. In Cyberpunk that is an entire firefight. Or for maybe a few seconds, then back up, then back down for a few seconds, then back up. It makes it a mess imho. It made me motion sick

      @kylerclarke2689@kylerclarke268914 күн бұрын
    • @@XxPetexXx you guys must have another version, because action on screen doesn't turn it off, only moving the camera quickly reduces FPS, and only vigorously does it revert back to base fps. That split second is a blur, so FPS doesn't matter in that case. And as soon as you stop, then the FPS climbs straight back up. It is also not a performance enhancer, it is there to make the on screen motion a lot smoother, which it does. Turn off the FPS counter, I think it distracts people from actually playing a game in Normal fashion.

  • Heads up all. A huge Lossless Scaling update 2.8 dropped today! Make sure you are running the latest beta as the Stable version has issues. Introducing LSFG 2.0 - Enhanced architecture for processing large-scale movements, enabling efficient usage at lower frame rates. Hence, the minimum recommended base frame rates are 30/40 for 1080p/1440p resolutions respectively, with 60 FPS and higher recommended for an optimal experience. - Noticeable reduction of common artifacts such as motion ghosting, edge distortion, and image blurring. In cases where artifacts persist, it is advisable to increase the base frame rate. - GPU load has increased by 1.5 - 2x depending on the resolution. Therefore, a new 'Performance' mode has been added to preserve the performance of the previous version. It retains all the main advantages of the quality version and surpasses the LSFG 1.1, all at the same speed.

And I also noticed this same behavior on several other games I tested. nVidia FG works much better than AMD FG in delivering a smoother gameplay experience while under 60fps. Only when the game runs, natively, above 60fps, the AMD FG starts to show somewhat good results.
