  • The table saw sled drawer is pure genius.

    @DirtyEngineer@DirtyEngineer Жыл бұрын
    • And if you have accessories for the sled (like stop blocks and so on) you can store inside it. Try doing the same with the sled attached to a French cleat wall. 😬

  • I can’t even tell you how excited I am to build this, I’ve procrastinated making my workspace functional because I couldn’t find a design that worked for it… this is PERFECT! And it looks beautiful too! I don’t think I’ve ever bought anything so fast and let me tell you, your plans are some of the best ones I’ve seen, so perfectly explained, even mentioning where to cut to haul the wood home, I can not tell you how much I appreciate that as a woman who can’t handle a sheet of plywood no matter how hard I try. THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU, you can always tell when someone enjoys what they do!

  • Here is someone who truly understands modular design. Amazing flexibility and thought through down to the raw material level.

  • This is an awesome concept. Combine these modular drawers with Zack Freedman’s Gridfinity system and it could be the perfect DIY shop storage for any space and hobby. Love the stealth sled idea, too.

    • That's exactly what this reminded me of, too :-)

      @fredio54@fredio54 Жыл бұрын
    • I went to the comments to write the same thing!

      @OhHeyTrevorFlowers@OhHeyTrevorFlowers Жыл бұрын
    • The issue is that Gridfinity is 42mm and the drawer dimensions here are 375x450. So the grids would not work out to even numbers, it's like 8.9 grids deep and 10.7 wide. It might work to scale some Gridfinity prints to a 25mm base grid, but then it's not really the same system, and a lot of the exact fit things like battery holders wouldn't be right anymore. IMO 25mm would've been a much better base dimension because it's basically 1 inch with a little extra room for tolerance.

      @JoshSamuelson@JoshSamuelson Жыл бұрын
    • @@JoshSamuelson Yes, though I suppose the plate prints could be modified around the edges to add non-gridfinity storage. So the majority of the drawer would be compatible and the edges would still be usable.

      @OhHeyTrevorFlowers@OhHeyTrevorFlowers Жыл бұрын
    • @@OhHeyTrevorFlowers Oh I guess that's true and it would help for storing long narrow things like rulers! Maybe I'll give that a try for my existing Gridfinity stuff, rather than re-print everything in a 25mm standard.

      @JoshSamuelson@JoshSamuelson Жыл бұрын

  • Jer I am 63 and have been watching your videos so long I feel like I watched you grow up. You have taught me that those tiny little lines on a tape measure are VERY IMPORTANT. LOL Also there is no reason to rush through anything. If you don't have time to do it right, How will you have the time to do it over? Keep up the great work and thank you for sharing.

  • Jer you are a freakin genius. No really. I cannot tell you how many videos, how many scenarios, how many rough drawings I've done for my shop layout. Every time I think I have what I want, I am just not feeling it. Not only am I not feeling it, I see another video with something that does things slightly different. So I shift. This is not just a shift, this is a full on landing. I've finally found my shop furniture. Not only could I use these cubes on the ground, but I would argue I could use them instead of upper cabinets in some cases. Consider my mind blown. Now I just need to determine how I am going to build out a top that is not permanently affixed to the cubes. At 6' 3" 32.5" tall is a little low for myself. Off the top of my head I am thinking a torsion style top to give myself the height you are achieving with 4 boards. I'll achieve the height with far less wood and a sound structure. Then it becomes a matter of how to attach the top to the cubes. Well done sir. I raise a glass to you.

  • This is a very clever system. And I would like to personally thank you for using metric as much as you can

    @joshuaszeto@joshuaszeto Жыл бұрын
    • Thanks! Luckily I was able to use metric on this one because the plywood is a metric thickness. For many projects (especially metal stuff) I can’t get metric material, so I’m kind of forced to use the nonsense system.

      @Jer_Schmidt@Jer_Schmidt Жыл бұрын
    • @@Jer_Schmidt +1 Thanks for using Metric. Fully agree - here in N America we are still stuck using the System-Based-On-The-Width-of-the-Kings-Toe. Drives me crazy. And particularly because no one knows how to use Imperial. Can we just put it to rest finally. Anyone want proof that nobody knows how to use it ? Simple - ask your neighbour : “How big is an acre ?”

You owe the community nothing but grateful you’re back putting out content. Thank you! And… thx for the metric measurements. I’ve been designing and 3D printing lately to add to my workshop. Working in that system over imperial measurements is so much easier (IMHO).
