One of my most popular knives is the Scandanavian style Puukko. My design is contemporary rather than traditional. I use 75CR1 steel that I have laser cut from 4mm sheets. Each blade is fully hardened and tempered individually, before grinding. The finish on this blade is a fire scale finish with an A30 bevel finish. I don't polish the bevels because the method of sharpening these blades will quickly undo any efforts at a satin finish.
The handle is from Camphor burl with a stabilised maple burl spacer. I use a poly fibre board and brass shim stock for spacers. The guard is hydro cut from brass to save time and wasteage. When the handle is done at a 1200 finish (Old 600 belt) I soak the wood in boiled linseed oil over night. After that you can use any number of wood sealers to finish it.
This model sells for US$285 from me or from Blade Gallery. Comes with a swinger sheath which I will make in another video. Material also varies from blade to blade.

Nothing carves like a Puukko, and that is a sweet one! Great skills and eye you have. A pleasure to watch.
Loved the video. As some one who makes a few knives himself, I always enjoy watching when other people share their know how and ideas. Glad I found this.
Those drawers of wood, my heart skipped a few beats
The final result is really gorgeous. That's a masterpiece! Keep up the fine work! 👍🏻

Absolutely beautiful job.
Awesome work! Congratulations!
The most beautiful video is best explained that I've ever seen in my life, well explained so one who gets an idea of how a knife handle is made which I still haven't managed to do well.
Great looking knife!
Wow, amazing, that is a beautiful puukko.👍
Love your work mate.
Precise workmanship. Congratulation :)
Thank you for sharing your process with us, and especially for showing us which grits you were using. Beautiful knife, grossly underpriced!

Nice work! You really make it look easy, too.
A stunning knife from a craftsman, I would cherish such a knife and it is worthy of being an heirloom. 👍

wow- fantastic work! video style also great👏
Now that is very cool! The perfect use of a tool box imo.. storing some beautiful wood! B
haha yeah, knife makers have different priorities. I got hooked on your channel last night.
Beautiful piece!
Very classy and beautiful
*I want buy knife, ans me know!*
Outstanding work
Beautiful work.
Beautiful handle 👍🏼
Very nice work. Congratulations and thanks. J.
beautiful work man!
Beautiful puukko!
takes me 3 days at about 5 hours each to file, sand, and sharpen a knife. Your work is amazing. I have a 1 inch by 30 inch belt sander. Maybe i should upgrade to something like you have in this video. Then again, i don't make a whole lot of knives. I do all my work from my wheelchair. I need to meet and watch someone like you in person. Great work bro.
Excellent work congratulations
That is an awesome knife it's a work of art 🔪
Отличная работа!!! Красиво и гармонично сочетаются цвета и фактура материалов!
Gorgeous blade
Muy buen trabajo, el cuchillo espectacular !!!!! Y la música 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Beautiful knife.
Amazing. You make it look easy but I know it is very hard because it needs skills and experience.
Yeah man, love watching your videos... Don't know why it took a day to show up in my feed, but at least it showed up... That tool rest for you horizontal is pretty sweet, I'm always fighting with mine, would be nice to just swing it out of the way... Awesome build, hope all is well, take it easy...
Love this! Thanks for sharing!
Nice one. I was given a hand forged puukko as a gift - it's my favourite blade so far but yours has nicer handle for sure.
Very nice job, Stu!
Real beauty! I am launching a puukko knife build video series and was researching other vids out there and came across this one! Great work man!
I love reading every ones comments! I guess every one is a knife maker and knows best when it comes to youtube
Very nice work in all stages, very nice knife. My impression is that G 10 does not respond to adhesives well enough for the pressure needs of a knife.
PERFECT PUUKKO!!!
*Приятно смотреть когда человек так работает руками , молодец!*
Excelent job,,,,,,,,,, your finnes pukko knife is a real fine art,,,,,, congratulations sir,,,,,,,,, greating from Perú 🇵🇪👍,,,,,,
great build, you should look into scalloped belts ...they work great at flowing around the curves in handles
Still one of my favorite Knifemakers. If you ever make it back to Arkansas let me know and we can sit around the fire 🔥 while having some homemade elixir of the Gods...
Great video, hope to see more!
Appsolutley perfekt shape of a knife. The blade shape is 100% perfekt.
That is perfect and most beautiful puukko, what you can make! I know, bacause I use puukko everyday there in Lapland. Great job!
I have ancestors from Sapmi.
What a beauty!!!
Amazing work
thnx a beautiful handle!
That's beautiful, man
exelente trabajo muchas felicidades un fuerte abrazo !!!!!!!!
It is always a joy to watch someone who knows what he'd doing at work. To me personally, sharpening the edge would be the ast step, i don't like handling a razor sharp edge when grinding the grip. But one can easy see, you are much more skillful than me with handling your tools.
Basarinin sirri burda. Mukemmel ekipman ve malzemeye sahip👍
wonderful job!
wonderful knife, this is the "finka" of my dreams
Beautiful!!!!
Beautiful !
Awesome video and cool knife 👍
you have golden hands .
Convex man belly works great for grinding a good edge 😁 I speak from experience . Dude you have a serious stock of premium wood .... I just look for odd woods locally or in my back yard LOL. I love wild plum tree wood but its the most difficult stuff to get a good square from. I love the purple and yellow blend makes such a pretty handle but man its a lot of work . I live in a 4plex so I have my Buck Tools 4×36 sander and other small tools to work with .....Your shop and wood stash is awesome bro , beautiful work.
Beautiful knife
Good work!
BEAUTIFUL
nice video , you have a nice stash of handle wood i see , holy cow ..
Beautiful.
TP makes everything shiney 😂......great job !
Eines der schönsten Messer 2020 auf KZhead, einfach aber sehr schön
Top skills👍
Beautiful
Bello un buon lavoro. Bravo.
I'm jelous of your collection of materials, also amazing control when you where grinding, that takes some time to get such good control, well done
Отличная работа!
Bagus sekali ommm mantapp...i like it....👍👍👍
I liked the viewing the steps that it took to build your product. They probably don't make a 1200 grit belt but it Look's Awesome! thx
Yeah it's not. It's an old 600 that is smooth like paper feels like a 1200.
excelente video!!!!
Very nice knife good job
