I'm combining layers of metal to forge this puukko style blade into a beautiful and functional tool.
To purchase a knife like this: firecreekforge.com
Blacksmith shirts and mugs: firecreekmercantile.etsy.com
I can’t possibly be the only one who would love if he sung during his whole video can I
That's a good looking knife.
A beautiful knife and a beautiful voice. God has blessed you in many ways.
Thank you
I love puukko. I love san mai. Glorious.
Thank you!
Now that is a beautiful knife!!!
Yet another gorgeous piece! Thanks for sharing!
First of all I like your songs. I know them very well. Second, I like your knife build, it’s beautiful.
Here I am saying I like your new format and it's actually the old format lol. This popped up on my suggested videos and I feel like I need to make one of these now.
Haha, thanks man
Amazing looking piece, such a fascinating process. Thank you for sharing.
you bet, thanks for watching!
Beautiful result. I used to thread the end of the tang and the end cap and tighten it up rather than clamp and rivet when I was making through tang knives.
Thanks! yes, that is a good way to do it too
Magnificent craftsmanship!
Thanks!
A beautiful knife i've seen I like the handle most
Very nice. I can't wait to receive the knife I ordered. Amazing work my friend.
Thanks Steve!
@@FireCreekForge THE ONE YOU JUST MADE WHAT IS THE VALUE ON THAT KNIFE??????
@@gringopines3476if you ordered one right now it would be 5-600
Wow what a beautiful knife!
Thank you, and thanks for watching!
Absolutely beautiful!
Beautiful blade. I was already strongly considering a click of the good ol subscribe button, and then I heard what you had playing in the background. Praise God, brother. And keep movin' metal.
Amen! Thank you!
You're very welcome. As a believer and someone looking to get started forging, it is a blessing and joy to find like minded people out there makin' stuff and praisin' Jesus.
Out of curiosity, what would an average, everyday-use shop knife cost?
@@timothyoclair5617 for something with about a 4" blade, in the neighborhood of $225 depending on specifics.
Ok. I see a Christmas present for myself in the not too distant future.
A thing of beauty. Simple beauty........
Man you've got a great singing voice
Lol.. I sing in the shop at times too, but I’m pretty sure people would think a toddler got ahold of a cat’s tail 😂 good looking blade. 👍🏼
Thank you! Haha, no worries, sing anyway
Love the sermon in the back ground and i Love the old hymns! Knife is Outstanding too, LOL, great work! God bless.
Thank you, blessings!
Beautiful work man
Thanks man, and thanks for watching!
I subscribed too lol
Beautiful a really nice job
Thank you, thanks for watching!
Nicely done! I also checked your shop and you have resonable prices for handmade knives but i know that they are worth much more. Keep up good work.
Thank you! I appreciate your support
Gorgeous!
Thanks!
Nice work!
Thank you, thanks for watching!
Great Video ! The knife looks awesome. It was nice to hear the Christian sermon in the back ground and some good old fashioned praise music from you. 👍👍
I appreciate that, thanks for watching!
Awesome informational educational video experience Y'alls God Bless Ya 🙏
Thanks for watching!
That cute C Clamp though!
Truly great
Thanks!
Such a beautiful sound of Gospel preaching in the background. 👍
It's amazing go on
awesome
I agree God has given you an amazing talent for making beautiful nice and amazing talent for singing and it would be a shame not to nurture both talents
Thank you
I WANT IT!!!🔪
Would be easy with all those badass tools.
fine work.
Thanks!
God definitely gave you a gift, love the craftsmanship
Thank you Brian, i appreciate your support!
Nice!👍🏻
Thanks!
Jesus that's a nice knife.
Great 👍
I dig your voice
Well now you are on my radar right here in South Africa. I appreciate your craftsmanship and hope to emulate your work. Please tell me what wood and metal you used for the handle? Stunning work!
That's great! What part of South Africa? I've been to Joburg and up to Zim. The handle is brass/ carbon fiber, then mesquite and desert Ironwood. Thanks for watching!
I'm looking at making a few knives out of three-layer construction but I'm wondering what do you use mild steel on the putter layers?
yet again your work is beautiful good sir, out of curiosity do you record projects you're making for customers? or do you just do it based on what would be fun to make?
Thank you! Some videos are pre ordered items, but more of the videos are projects that I think will add a good variety to the channel, and then I make them available for sale. Thanks for watching!
It's not a puukko, but it's a nice knife! 👍
Thanks!
Just something I do with a burned in tang, is make a tang from mild steel and then there's no chance of messing up the ht
Beutiful knife 👍steel 1095 this is high carbon
看的真心不错,这把刀要多少钱一把?
Kiitos
👌
Beautiful knife!! Can you tell me how to etch in detail? My 1095/15n20 doesn't come out dark black and white like your knife. I only use the ferric chloride..
I like to use a weak ferric chloride solution to etch several times until there is an easily distinguishable difference surface depth, then cleaning and soaking in strong coffee overnight will darken the carbon steel better.
is it okay if I steal your design on this knife? was so heavenly impressed at how nice it turned out! do not think I will get it nearby as nice as yours but would love to try 😁
You bet, go for it
Good looking knife!
Thanks!
Can you make a Damascus blade with some copper in it? Also loved the Puuko 😁
You can make a laminate that is similar to Damascus (pattern welded ) steel using copper, however I have not personally done that, and the process is a bit different. Thanks for watching!
I love hearing someone talking about God in your background! God is good all the time and all the time God is good!
Amen, thank you!
Wooow 👍🐒🔥🔥🔥❤️
I did not see any flux (borax) used while combining the different layers. Is that right? If yes, how do they fuse? Cheers.
This was a "zero atmosphere" weld, since I sealed it by arc welding around the billet. That keeps the oxygen out so no oxidation occurs, and the steel can weld easily.
Curious as to how much that knife would cost and is it available
I sold this particular knife for $500. Thanks!
Just out of curiosity, was not another layer in there? In the beginning it look as though there were three types of metal and a fourth layer? In which case this wouldn’t be San Mai. Not hating because that is a beautiful piece.
I guess it would actually be go mai
Your work is superb and meticulously executed. I really enjoy your well put together videos however I am not a fan of the religious interludes slipped in there. I fully appreciate it’s your video and your choice…I can of course turn down the volume and watch as it was the knife making I came for not the religion.
What type of leather strop do you prefer?
It is a piece of 8-10 ounce veg tan with a little jewelry polishing compound
@@FireCreekForge thanks so much.
🔥🛠🔪👍
Heating the tip of the blade handle does not affect the hardness?
No, it won't unless you allow the heat to travel all the way to the blade.
@@FireCreekForge thank you for sharing
@@noureddineahmed3497 you bet! Thanks for watching!
Бездоганна робота,браво
Muy buena canción y mejor ejecución, pero ...por favor, sigue con el cuchillo, sí!
what are these grades of steel?
The core/edge is 1095 High carbon steel, with a layer of pure nickel on each side, then a layers of Damascus (pattern welded steel) made of high carbon and 15N20
Nice knive, Nice shape, but why so mutch diffrent material to the handl. Less is more.
Is that a forced air burner?
No, that's an atmospheric burner, which runs off the Venturi affect.
hehe.. [start to Finnish], as in puukko being a finnish style of knives.. hehe
Haha, good one
Good singing voice
Thanks!
Incredible talent...........................But it's forge welded and not Damascus
Thanks! yep, I know it's not historic Damascus steel, pattern welded steel has generally referred to as Damascus ever since Bill Moran introduced the aesthetics back into the custom knife world...
Little lesson of terminology, San-Mai in a Japanese language means san=three Mai=layers, so you knife is a go - mai, go=five
I see, cool! I was familiar with the more specific meaning of san mai, admittedly using the term rather loosely here. Thanks for watching!
14:36 goose bumps..😬
I know, right?
That's 5 layers so it go mai
Привет из Северного Кавказа. Продаётся такой нож?
Спасибо! Этот нож продан, но я могу сделать его и для тебя.
Love your videos and your blades. I only wish you would not show when you weld. I get seizures from bright flashes
How much that knife will cost
I sold this one for $500
Besides the church stuff nice video
Did you want my shoes next?
Nicree?
Price??
I sold this one for 500 dollars. Thanks!
@@FireCreekForge cheap...
why would he use a power and then use a hammer . wouldn't it easier to use the power hammer
The hydraulic press (what I'm using here) is super helpful for reducing large sections of steel, but it has limited capability to forge a variety of shapes, planes without specific dies to affect that exact shape, where as a power hammer is inherently more versatile.
hello, I am Maftouh from Khouribga in Morocco can you send me a Damascus knife I would be grateful to you thank you very much I await your response.
Já pensou em ser cantor? Kkkkkk
What does san mai mean?
Specifically, a hardenable steel core and tougher, softer outer layers. More generally, a "sandwich" construction blade .
@@FireCreekForge thank you
This means 3 layers of metall
