This video is a detailed analysis of the camera features of the Samsung S24 Ultra and the iPhone 15 Pro Max, which are both equipped with impressive zoom capabilities. I put them head to head in various scenarios, such as selfies, photography, and video recording. I also show you some of the unique features of each phone, such as the anti-reflective display of the S24 Ultra and the LOG mode of the iPhone 15 Pro Max. You will see how they perform in different lighting conditions, and how they handle the dynamic range, color accuracy, and noise reduction. By the end of the video, you will have a clear idea of which phone has the best camera for your needs.
I hope you find this video helpful and informative. If you do, please give it a thumbs up and subscribe to my channel for more tech reviews and comparisons.
And don’t forget to leave a comment below and let me know which phone you would pick and why.
Thanks for watching!
Welcome to my S24 Ultra Series! There is so much more to explore with the S24 Ultra, so stay tuned for the next Epic video!
the camera just been updated today !
@@ashouhdy yes, it’s mostly contrast and sharpness-affected things, nothing major to be honest that make my conclusions in this video invalid
Great work, Loved your video, in my country S24U is $1429 and iPhone Pro Max is $1999 due to taxes as its imported from US, and pixel 8 pro is also around $1400 , so kindly help me choose which one should i choose for a long term at least 5 years of use. just want to mention i just want decent camera for family photos and videos and for my travels not for any content making and social media.
New update?
@@stevendivishi can't find 3x lense digital zoom option in my iPhone 15 pro max , let me know any settings need to be enabled .
You nailed it with the 5x and 10x lenses. Use the digital zoom for the closer thing and a real optical lense for a zoom.
Thank you. Samsung just upgraded the S24 ultra camera yesterday.
Yeah I know, most of the things addressed here are remaining the same. The update affected mostly contrast/sharpening things. Stay tuned for the next video 🫡
🤣🤣🤣🤣
Great video! Thanks for the comparisons! I hope to see a sequel to this video comparing the new update that was just rolled out.
Something epic in the making! 🫡
I like my iPhone 15 but I miss my Samsung and I’d definitely prefer the s24 ultra ❤❤❤❤
I love the spen stylus for photo editing on s24u over iPhone!
iphone 15 only have two lense compared to ultras tht has double the camera
If you get lucky and get s24 ultra with good screen than yes but other than that I would stay with iphone, im gonna return mine and buy iphone later
Samsung always boss
My bad is I bought 24 ultra and sold and bought 15 p max
good video. Something I noticed that could could be be useful to you editing would be to never switch what phone is on the left vs right of the screen doing comparisons where you don't always have it consistent now. for example 2:34 is opposite 2:16
I just updated my s24U. Its now brighter a lower setting for manual. Though Haven't tested adaptive brightness yet .
Same. I put the level of vividnes in the middle.
Is this review after the update with a bunch of s24U camera optimizations? White balance when zoomed in is supposed to have been adjusted, and there are supposed to be some adjustments to noise levels and capturing fast-moving subjects.
Steven, have you tried the ND filter on the S24 as I found it when I tried it, it has made the photos slightly blurred, thanks.
There is always one thing missing when I watch this kind of reviews. No one really tests makro cameras, or makro photos with extra zoom lenses. I'd like to see something like this, it would really help me to decide which one to choose for work :)
Thank you so much for this video 😊
Hello! Thanks for your work! Good job!!
Between the two, which one would you keep in your pocket as your point and shoot and a daily carry camera wise?
Great review! I will say the anti reflective screen is amazing. With my phone at slight angles etc there's hardly any reflection to deal with. It's extremely nice. Should have been on smart phones years ago.
Do you plan on doing an in depth recommended settings using advanced features and camera assistant on the S24 Ultra?
cool style! cool video! but I miss your drone reviews( 🤩
One of the honest youtuber!! Keep up your good work 🤝
Did you record this video before the s24 ultra update?
always incredible videos ♥
14:22 you were viewing the saved jpg of the raw file that's why the file size was low. expert raw has the default option to save both the jpg and raw files, but you can change this on the settings.
yet another banger steven! always waiting for your vid to drop. i dont have a flagship phone that has the best pro mode, but because of ur vids i am starting to use the pro mode even more. keep up the good work man
I appreciate that!
Hi Steven, Are you able to run a through the cameras and all the technical things like aperture and what makes cameras on s24 ultra slower than iphones and pixel(addressing the lag and sharpness of the shot in the end)m as well as configure a preferred camera setup on a proper/dream like cameraphone. Thank you very much and your videos are always boss😎
Yes no problem! Thank you for the support, stay tuned for the next video!
The expert raw app was updated and now the pic files are big 😊
Was this including the recently released update for the s24u
I just clicked because the thumbnail looked stunning.... Good job brother
i respect you for being honest and not satisfying Android fan boys like everyone else. Subscribed.
I love how you compare both devices with no bias and no hate!!
Thank you! I try 🫡

Really good video. Did you update the s24 ultra to the new firmware that has the camera fixes. @@stevendivish
What should I take s24 or iphone for photo@@stevendivish
@@stevendivishyea boss
I so love your honest reviews. Please could you make a more detailed comparison between video qualities of these 2 phones @Stevendivish? I particularly struggle filming in small rooms with wide or ultra wide angle to capture more .. there's a lot of noise on my s23 ultra. Curious if s24 does better or maybe the iphone is better? Not one youtuber talks about these things (noise, distortion, video quality)
Found this channel accidentally but straight leaving sub! Very nice comparison content. Greetings from Brno ! :)
Thanks a lot, man! Appreciate it 🙌🏼
Finally got a solid review 👏
Pure raw on the Samsung is only in the pro mode, not in expert raw, you go into the settings and chose to save in raw. Have you have a 12mp mode and 50mp mode. Raw files are usually around 100mbs Expert raw also has different amount of multi exposure settings upto 9 exposures but definitely more for tripod use with the built-in Nd filter for like waterfall etc.
You mean that there is no raw in Expert raw?
You didn't mention the flip camera button right next to your finger for switching from front to back while you record.
8:08 As an Xperia 1 V user this made me happy lol
On my S23U I don't like how it cools down the color on wide angle shots not sure if this is the same with the S24U, thx for the detailed video
Love the content man, i definitely agree that removing the staple 10x lens was a step back from the s23 ultra. They should definitely bring it back.
I'd like to see a 5 to 10x optical zoom on the next one.
10x Gang!
I want to see 15x optical 😊
@@stevendivish10x gang
5x zoom was good step but removing 10x wasnt
I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems with Expert RAW. Great video, bro! Really detailed, and wow, you captured some amazing shots on both phones! 😊
Thanks for the kind words, man, really appreciate it!
Samsung dropped yesterday the big Samsung S24 Ultra update for the camera. please test it, if there really a improvement
Your efforts really show up in this video , I would suggest checking out some chinese phones as well , they also have strong hardware like Vivo X100 pro , Xiaomi 14 Ultra , Oppo Find X7 ultra
Have you updated the samsung before making this review? Update was yesterday, and fixes a lot of issues with ultra's camera specifically
been on reddit and seems NO it hasnt? main issues were color coordination nd post processing being so forceful. still the same if i saw. also im about to grab my s24 from the store rn...
you the best, keep going i will always support you.👍
I appreciate that!
15 Pro Max camera is just soooooo consistent. And that is what you look for in ANY camera. Consistency. How reliable is it when you press shutter?
This exactly is something that has kept me sticking with iPhones for years after coming from Android. I sort of want to go back, but I like to know exactly what to expect and what I will get with my cameras and Apple has provided that (mostly) for years.
The 15 pro max camera can be inconsistent in some cases to,it's not perfect
Yeah I agree. For the years, iPhone was always getting consistent and stable results. However, that is mostly related to processing the files not too much. What I discovered after I bought S24 Ultra is with the new One UI 6.1 update, you can choose either getting photos max, mid, or min processed. This might sound not much of a difference but when you analyze the results, you tend to see it becomes more "consistent". I always loved the way Apple approaches to color science and HDR but I gotta admit that Samsung stepped up pretty much and this year S24 Ultra might be winner on Camera category with a slight advantage.
What do you mean by "consistent"? Light? Dynamic range? Contrast?
@@UmarRosyad When you press the shutter button, do you get a good pic? That is what iPhones have always excel at. Are the iPhone pics class-leading? Not all the time, but you are guaranteed that it is a good picture. Pixel i think comes the closest. Everything else is a hit or miss.
the camera just been updated today !!
One step forward two steps back update. Some issues addressed but more issues created by it.
@@neilmcguinness4422what issues are you talking about?
@@JohnnyBravoGn i saw another video the update made the photos worse for the samsung (they also did a comparison to before and after the update)
@5ecretcode Definitely not true in my experience. I took a tonne of photos before and after the update... the update improved the camera consistency, colours, exposure and wb.
@@JohnnyBravoGn Firstly, people are complaining that images are noticeably flatter and drabber after the update, and skin colour representation is now very poor in 50Mp mode. For some, the update has introduced stabilization micro-jitters in zoomed in video, and inconsistent (worsened) view gradients of colours (banding). I could go on, but that would not give a balanced picture, as the update has of course brought some improvements. NO update will ever be a cure everything at once update though.
All of that what you critize should have byen fixed course today many samsung ukers got the update we have byen waiting for . Could you do again a comparishing with the iPhone 15 Pro max some time later i think the result will be different.
Expert RAW is a weird one. It can shoot in JPEG or RAW. You may have used Expert RAW JPEG instead of Expert RAW RAW. The standard camera also has its own RAW mode.
Great video! Please cover motioncam on android for video, both Google And Samsung use the app for promotional content from their devices so you know it is very good.
u should try motioncam on android. able to record cinemadng and with the latest beta(?) prores
This is before or after the update?
Thank you for mentioning my point about RAW photos from the previous videos. I don't think a lot of people care or are aware of this issue. But, it was a deal breakfer for me. Sadly, I returned the phone and might move to Pixel.
The raw files on my galaxy are way bigger than the jpeg. I'm sure it's gotta be some setting issue. Jpegs are about 3mb and raw files about 35mb.
@@MarcosCernaG Was it the S24 Ultra? I noticed that the RAW files from 200 MP mode were actually big and had better details. But, they were too big and you can't switch lenses. The 12 and 50 MP raw files were quite small.
@thelumiereguy yes. It's on a s24 ultra. Finally came back to android from Apple after about 6 years.
If you are using a third party app on 15pm, why are you comparing it to the stock app on Samsung, instead of downloading the Motion Camera App or mcpro24fps on Samsung, which will allow you to shoot in any codecs and with any gamma curves, including shooting in ProRes LOG, while giving you even more options for manual adjustments than the stock camera. Сonsider this option for future comparisons.
I see he didn't answer this lol.
No, I absolutely do not agree. You see Apple advertised the app I talked about and even showed it in their keynote which they shot on via this app. Just think about it, so it makes total sense to use it. On the other hand, Samsung never encouraged anyone to use a 3rd party app. Besides that, half of the apps I get recommended are either full of ads or not available in my region, which I am okay with, but once again it's just not the same. And makes the whole thing even less fit for getting an advanced image quality. Plus on top of that, Expert Raw mode on the S23/S24 Ultra HAS to be downloaded as a separate app feature. Meanwhile, I do not see anyone saying "Why don't you use some App on the iPhone for manual photography settings". So I still believe I give a fair take here in the video. But I surely will try to get the max out of the phone even if it requires all this workflow, so thanks for the advice.
just did, no problem lol@@eciv2006
@@stevendivish Good point that Apple is promoting "their" 3rd party camera and Samsung is not. But it still seems to me that the key point here is the very need to download third party software. An ordinary user will not download a program with a bunch of buttons and settings, it will be done by those who understand why they need it. And they will find what to download and how to setup the program, besides, the Internet is full of information on this topic. And in this context, it is not so important what third-party software is promoted by whom. That's why I wrote that it is most correct to compare either "out of the box" states or the maximums obtained through the use of third-party software.
@@user-ee2fm6vz9o I agree! The author is a complete moro* in this regard
Was this comparison after the update? Because my s24 ultra is taking amazing pics and videos after the big update and the screen is looking looking nice and colorful.
Are you happy with it? The filming is good now?
When shooting video - the iPhone’s native app is good. It’s even better if you turn off HDR in video settings. Of course Pro Rez Log opens up the world of cinematic footage. Having a free app that allows you to control every aspect of exposure while allowing the recording of less memory intensive Pro Rez files makes the iPhone the best choice for a wide variety of filmmakers.
Had you set in settings save in jpeg and raw in expert raw?i tested my s23 ultra and it produced a 3 mb photo and 33 mb raw
Yeah on s23U it wasn’t the case, for some reason it’s here DNG files behave this way
I totally agree with you, Samsung should consider getting rid of the 3X optical..and must have a 5X and 10X instead, The 3X should be digital
Is this with the new update released today?
What app is that?
3x is great on iPhone but i guess the image composition is not the same (closeness of farther subjects to main subject) and in closer portraits with upper body the dedicates 3x should look better (no barrel distortion from too wide lens). maybe make a short comparing 3x closeup portraits (upper half of body) 🤷♂️🙂
get both for peace of mind 😂
brodie can you do a pixel 7 pro camera review?
hi.. great video and I just wanna say something, I m using both phones since they was coming out and I can tell you after a very heavy usage, they are amazing and sometimes the iPhone is better and sometimes the s24 ultra is the best, it deppend on the situation.. but there’s a one thing when Samsung beat the iPhone in it, it’s the customisation and the possibility to do all what you want with your phone.. but you will enjoy the user experience with anyone of those flagships.. I have a question, what app apple had developed with magic design for fil;ing with ProRes and getting a compressed video?
Thanks for your thoughts! The app is blackmagic camera. Watch my video called "iphone 15 pro max -Must have camera accessories" I explain everything about the app and how I use it
@@stevendivish thanks for your answer🙏🏻
which lens is used for filming those cinematic on iphone
It’s from my iPhone 15 series, you can find it on the channel called “iPhone 15 pro max - must have camera accessories”
That telephoto whitebalance issue is only on the Exynos variants as far as I know.
But all S24 Ultras have Snapdragon, don't they?
@@huyquanbnghe is just obsessed with Samsung and will use any excuse. So leave it
You will be a big youtuber one day brother❤❤
Beside of the software adjustment, I think Samsung should redesign their camera placement, I think Apple with their camera placement could improve the smoothness when switching the lenses while recording

Go for iPhone 15 Pro Max. S24u cameras are horrible! It’s overprocessed. I sold mine.
Please do a comparison video between S24 Ultra and Sony Xperia 5 V
I don't know how to use expert raw. I mean l don't know how you adjust ve, iso, speed , wb and so on when you take photo.🤔

Bro could you please do vivo x100 pro long exposure pro mode video i really love your video please do ^
However, the image from the iPhone 15 on the Avol LTV-3500 projector is far from that of your professional Sony camera :)
What is that iphone app that he talked about in the video ?
Blackmagic camera app, I have an instructional video how to use it, look up on my channel "iPhone 15 Pro Max - Must Have Camera Accessories"
At 4 :56 i can see that iphone's color tone matches the color tone of the camera were used to shoot this video.
I’ve got them both iPhone 15 Pro Max, Samsung Galaxy s24 ultra love them both definitely was worth the upgrade definitely keeping them both ❤️❤️🤲🏾💯
Samsung s24 ultra is GREAT
iPhone user here, but Ive got to admit - selfie camera video at the beginning - waaay better on the Samsung... How can you say its the same?! ....
Hmm, I think I clearly mention every difference in the selfie camera image, dynamic range, colors, contrast etc
Frankly, I don't see how the 2 are the same 🤷🏽♂️
Dang the update just came out.
I wasn't aware that raw files we're supposed to be larger until just recently. I noticed in the settings menu on the raw settings, there's an option to save as just Raw but the preset was saved as JPEG and RAW . I noticed that when you switch it to Raw only the file size becomes bigger is larger
I agree 3 x zoom is rlly useless bc when u have such a good 5x zoom, it will practically give u a lossless zoom until 4x
They should've upgraded the 3x lense as well. Atleast giving it a 12mp slightly larger sensor instead of old, bad 10mp sensor. That would've been useful
Bro i have s24 ultra and this anti reflective coating does makes a big difference..no doubt about it
man, can't wait for the next vid. i am liking photography more and more because of you. hope you cover a beginner and budget friendly camera in the later series. a camera that is good enough without any stabilization accessories. something just to take photos of a moment

Which one is good to edit 4k video on phone ?
can you please try a sony phone because no "tech" youtuber seems to know how to use them I wanna know if the Xperias are really that bad
Whats the name of that free app developed for iPhone ?
blackmagic
nailed it!! one of the best camera comparisons on youtube, not like others who praise s24 ultra for no good reason.
Thank you!
I think you should check better the thing about the raw files. The raw files from my S24U are about 30mb when shooting at 12mpx with the binning, while they reach 100mb when shooting at 50mpx Now different story is the quality...they are just bad. Noisy and burnt when the light is in the scene. I really don't know what they put in those 30/100 mb...
Which City is this?
S24u 5x 12mp looks lots better than the 5x 50mp. Have you noticed that?
I think we need to add Sony Xperia flagship phone into the mix
samsung got their first camera update a few hours ago tho
Much appreciated the realistic approach rather than adopting a flattering one .....🙌🙌
Here I am watching comparisons while I already know which one I would go for... 😇
Great perspective. I believe the bottom line is, either of these cameras can be a winner if presented to be. The truth is the ultra has more capability, better results even in auto unless you corner a certain lense in a niche scenario, and even then there are other lenses and features on the ultra that beat the competition. There will always be a rebuttal with the ultra when with other phones, they can be flatlined by it. Everyone knows the iPhone is the go to for serious production and pleasing to the history of videographers. The ultra will give you the results you want and the best results for social consumption. Game Over.
Both have the same focal length zoom capabilities of 5x. The 100x on samsung is with the 5x lens which iPhone also has. So they both will take more or less similar quality images when zoomed more then 5x. But within 3x to 5x, samsung is supposed to take better images as it has a 3x lens. You're right, samsung needs to go back to giving 10x lens as that should give better long range zoomed shots like 30x or 50x or even 100x. It's surprising why they dialed it down to 5x only and still claims to be a zoom king. Even though the 5x has more megapixels, a true optical 10x lens with just 12 megapixel will give better zoomed image quality.
Just got the s24ultra upgraded from a 14 pro max was really excited but have had a very bad experience maybe I got a faulty one but will return the first thing in the morning
The 24ultra is a Beast of a phone
