Samsung's ecosystem is not as fluid as Apple's for sure...I have both. Apple's works better..."it just works"...but I choose my S24+ because my 15PM is utterly boring
Is the best ecosystem to me. I use a Windows PC at work and it works seamlessly with my phone, at home I have a Samsung fridge washer and dryer, TV and even a smart vacuum. I currently use the Galaxy watch 6 classic and the Galaxy buds pro 2 As of right now I don't own a Samsung tablet but I really don't feel the need for one. But everything I use works just fine in my daily life style
I haven't experienced the iPhone ecosystem. However, i've got buch of friends using it, so i have something to compare the samsung ecosystem with. And this is an incredible ecosystem ! The synergy between the phone, the watch 6 classic, the tablet, and even windows works flawlessly. The only complaint i have is that samsung didn't make a dedicated monitor to fully exploit dex. Like, it would be great to have a sort of laptop, but without any cpu or gpu, to have a sort of computer of which the price could be way lower than the galaxy book. Maybe they will be doing it in the future 🤞
Would love it. I got me self an iPhone 14 pro, but after 1 month got back to Samsung S21 Ultra. Never had problem with the NFC. Like for years.

made the switch from iphone to S23 ultra a year ago and very happy with that choice. Those that want to talk trash on Andriod really have not used it for extended perioid of time lately.
Those who trash talk either can’t open their minds to why Apple/Android doesn’t satisfy everyone’s wants and needs. I switch back and forth between the two and they are just awesome machines.
I think most Apple loyalists assume all of Android is like what you get on a budget Android phone. They don't realize the flagships directly compete in quality and features with iPhone
@battery_wattage one of the most sensible comments I have read in these threads about the differences. I haves used both and agree they are both great, however android is just a little more open for those who love to tinker.
No one is talking trash about android. Android users been getting defensive lately for no reason.

Even on One UI, you don't have to swipe from the top to bring down the notification, there's a setting that you can enable, so that you can swipe down anywhere from the home screen to bring down the notification.
That's just it to many settings to adjust to get it just right out of the box. Many of which take days to figure out where they are at. Iphone is just simpler and clear cut and i used android since s4

Depends what you want your phone to do…..I’m a mobile gamer, and my 15pro max has DOUBLE the frame rate on games than the s24u that can only run up to 60fps
I feel the same coming from Huawei p30 pro 🤔 Like I went back to 2015 or so by buying Iphone 15 pro max. But, I'd say it depends on the personal preference now. But still, iphone is stealing money from you by missing out on everything android os is capable of compared iOs.

As far as the NFC goes, I believe the NFC transmitter on a Samsung phone is in the middle as opposed to the iPhone where its on the top of the phone. In the video, it looks like you keep trying to tap the top of the phone instead of the middle of the phone. I have a S23 Ultra and it works perfectly every time I use it.
I guess I didn't think about that. I use both but I am more accustomed to Android. I thought the NFC was always on the middle of the phone. Whenever I pay with the iPhone I would tap on the middle of the phone and it works.

It's next to the camera on the S24 Ultra, I never have a problem using it with Google Pay and Samsung Pay
On unfocused photos like 7:27, you can change the autofocus on people in the gallery by simply swiping the photo up and changing the background effect.

I want to say I've had absolutely no issues with NFC or Google pay, I did notice you hold your phone in a weird way, as if the signal came from the top of your phone, the way NFC works you need the phone and the reader to be parallel to each other. I always aim for the reader as if it was a wireless charger and I was about to charge my phone and I've had no issues this way. The few times I've had to try twice it was because I failed to do this but I quickly got the hang of it.
And about the custom notification sounds I believe that's a dev issue, I've noticed a couple of my apps do have a custom sound and it's the same one on my iPhone
It's the fact that iPhone have a 360° nfc. Some androids starts to do that too, the cheaper Chinese ones I think
For the contactless payements I use my own bank app, and had never ever had any issues. This is the best secured possibility.

I JUST switched to my s24 yesterday. I was a longtime apple user since the 4s. lately, i've been a little bored with that side of the world. im really liking this switch back. i had legacy androids like the HTCs, s3, mytouch, sidekick android. I forgot how many dang settings for everything there are.

Android totally has the "your password is used on the dark web" feature. It's originally a Google feature.

Love the video and you had a lot of amazing takes! I swapped from Iphone 14 pro to Galaxy Fold around mid last year and I can agree with a lot of the points you made here. I still ended up going back to the Apple Eco-system but it was an eye opening experience that gave me a fresh outlook as someone who has been with apple for the past 13 years.
The ability to swipe down anywhere on the home screen to get the notification panel is part of the Samsung UI as well. Your notification sound issue is a little bit confusing you like the idea of being able to set up different ones for different notifications, but you don't have time to set it up??? Also, no matter how far any settings is hide in the settings, you can just search it, and it is there immediately. Also try Swiftkey keyboard as well. And don't forget to change that shat Samsung phone dialer for something much better. Some real T9 search capable one ;)
I enjoy the photo editing features the most on this phone lineup. The Remaster works wonders in bringing qualities to photos taken in difficult sense. Cleaning up reflections and shadows in photos is completely next level.
Used iPhone for over 6 years every year new model, recently switched to s24 ultra. Using Google wallet an I was surprised how much faster is NFC pay then iPhone. Using s24 1 month now and every time I pay something I would be surprised that it works so fast on more of distance then iPhone

Considering the same switch-does Ultra, meaning some core android feature or Samsungs one ui feature, offer Hide My Email functionality? I do use that to further secure that my email is not used in many less significant places like various newsletters and such. Is there some easy way to do that in Ultra? Like when opening new web accounts or subscribing to newsletters to use some randomly generated alias which is then linked to main email and some place where you can manage that (delete alias, create new one)? Hide my Email works great in iOS since it does everything for the user, one just clicks hide my email and the email address is automatically generated, linked to main one and used in login field. Any thoughts on that?

I live in a small town in eastern Finland where we have no support for any phone manufacturer. we once had an official Samsung repair shop for a while, but it wasn't profitable in such a small town and ended up unprofitable.
PLEASE try using the Galaxy Watch 6 Classic or Watch 5Pro, they are great offering a lot of fitness features and customization along with syncing incredibly well with your Galaxy phone. My Galaxy Watch 5Pro battery lasts for 3 days and has a titanium case which is really nice.
I use both phones they are just amazing it’s just two different ecosystems but eventually the S24Ultra dominates the game …
10:50 if you store your passwords in your Google account, it does actually warn you of data leaks. I got 2 warnings actually in the past years.

@@PeteMathesonIt definitely does works every time on my phone. You have to realize you're not using an iPhone which NFC is at the top. The S24U NFC is in the middle of the phone. You need not blame the phone, you need to learn learn how to use the phone.

I had the same problem with NFC like you in the beginning when switching from iPhone to Samsung. I found that the NFC chip is not at the same place as it is on the iPhone, it is more in the middle/beneath the camera. If you hold the phone horizontally instead of vertically which you do now, it wont fail. It doesnt for me anyway.

I never "got" the appeal of iphone. Android does more for less money. I just bought a Pixel 7 for under $200 and I love it.
I still have my S21 Ultra, and my watch is a Mobvoi 5. It seems to be a problem with the pay devices in certain shops. In one major UK retailer nether will be accepted, in another, only the phone. And then both will work without issue on the stalls in the market square.

I have to agree with the customer support experience from Samsung. It's not great. 1st of all I live in Brussels and there is only 1 Samsung store which is not even in Brussels anymore with only paid parking (they don't reimburse you even if they ask you to come back again to collect your new/repaired device). Then, my Flip 5 got dead pixels on the screen and battery issues around 1 month of having it and they took the phone to repair, which they told me would take 1 week, instead of just replacing it with a new one. Luckily I had my old Flip 3 around which also has some screen issues that make it almost inoperable and they wanted to charge me 300€ to repair it. I got my flip 5, immediately sold it and got a S24 Ultra with a promotional Watch 6. I am still waiting for my watch 6 to arrive as I keep going back and forth with Samsung to try and see when it will be delivered. They say I purchased the S24U outside the promotional days but it's not true and I showed them the purchase proof 2 days before the promo ended. I love all my Samsung phones (I have s22U, Flip 3, s24U) but their service is awful
Hey man dont forget to zoom in on the moon and for videos put it in uhd 60 and theres a 200 megapixel camera in photo mode if you want the pure detail in your shot without using the 100x zoom and the camera has an astronomy mode on expert raw under the "more" section on the camera click the star thing on the top right corner then "show" then it tells you wich stars your pointing at and with a tripod you can use it like a telescope it lets you set the timer for 4 minutes, 7 minutes, and 10 minutes it litterally absorbs the light from the stars just keep it still this phone is amazing and the stabilizing mode in video mode by clicking the dude on the top of your video screen and the phone also has auto framing in video mode it will use AI to track you without your camera having to move you go in video mode and click the circle on the bottom left and it will track the person your looking at its so sickkkk please use it more its a telescope bro zoom in on the moon yourll thank me later enjoy your telescope

I'm a Samsung user since the Google Nexus S, made by Samsung :) back in 2011 Nice to mention the Samsung Secure Folder, which is not really just a "folder". You should do a video just on that. Should also mention Samsung Dex for the desktop experience in the go. This is the future.

Watching you try to tap to pay was...frustrating. NFC is basically right under the camera array. Don't just punch the NFC reader with the top of your phone...
I'll be honest, I've had trouble with this phone as well, and my last phone was an Oppo Find X3 which I never had a single problem with. I think the NFC reader on this phone is a bit unreliable.
Probably didn't use the best b-roll clips to show off this feature :D But me swiping in at the gym was with the NFC positioned in exactly the right place. It's not right under the camera array on the S24 series, it's next to them.

Hi Mister, I've been hearing a lot that the screen on the S24 Ultra is very grainy- specifically when it's on low brightness in a dark room. I'm very worried that if I purchase one, it will have that issue and Samsung aren't admitting to the quality issue. Since you have two units, would you share your experience? Feel free to Google the issue to see example images and test scenarios yourself. I do hope you see this and appreciate if you do respond 🙏
What about a Samsung watch? You have to use Samsung Pay. There is no trouble, what are you doing? It could be the devices that you are using, the phone is solid...
21:00 actually, i had a samsung 512 GB galaxy s23 Ultra, sended it to warranty because it top speaker was doing some weird noise and samsung replaced my S23U for a s24U with same storage...

Go to notification settings select advance settings choose select notification for individual app.then go back to settings then apps then look for the app then notification category to select ringtone for that app

@@PeteMatheson You're right about the Apple eco system locking you in though. I currently have an Apple Watch, iPad, MacBook Pro and an iPhone, so switching is quite difficult, that's the only thing that puts me off.
Yeah we’ll see. The s21 Ultra *almost* pulled me away a few years ago. But with RCS coming, it seems more compelling. I have Watch Ultra, iPad, Macs, HomePods, AirPods, etc. And I use much of the software and iCloud for work and productivity. So I think my biggest issues will be finding new workflows outside of the Apple apps.
@@InfamousNathan My first smart phone was an iPhone and I've used the iPhone 5 and 6 and they were great at their time. So instead of getting the iPhone 7 I decided to try an Android phone which was the galaxy s7 edge and wow... Did realize what I was missing. If you like to personalize your phone then yeah you will love android. Besides Samsung I've also used an Oppo phone so I guess you'll enjoy android phones no matter which brand you pick. As for me from the moment I switched to Android I've never gotten back to iPhone. Maybe in the future I'll come back to iPhone again if they finally reduce the size of that camera punch hole.
NFC antenna is in the top right of the device but at the 1/3 of the length, not top edge. Google for S24 layout and you'll see.

Under notifications and advance settings under the settings screen. He needs to go over to the option marked "Manage notification categories for each app", Notification categories menu will appear on the notification settings screen for each app.,

Done this already - on the 24 they're hidden under advanced settings and and like the ring example, they just don't work unless you spend ages customising them yourself :)

I am new to iOS, currently using iPhone15 Pro Max. Apple needs to add more functionality, I am missing my Android already. I needed the iOS phone because I am software developer and the reason for the purchase was to test my websites and mobile applications on real iOS device.
How is the android auto experiance against the apple carplay?
Turning off Face Unlock for lock screen solves the NFC issue. Took me months to realize.
strange, i am was using google pay on my old samsung galaxy s20 fe and now on s24 ultra and had 0 problems. i am not fan of notifications so i have turned them off all the time and instead my watch vibrates. so can't really tell what is the problem with that part. speed thing i don't understand too, honestly because it is very fast. as every phone today. so i think it is a bit of a exaggerating, human eye can't even see it, specially with developers options. about support, very true, i had to wait three weeks for my watch. but again, when my GF's macbook pro just gone black, screen went of without a reason, they didn't want to repair it for free even with warranty. repair was 800 euros (!!!) + almost a month of waiting. so, support thing is probably related to a country you are in (i am in croatia). here, xiaomi is by far the best regarding support and everything around it. before, it was huawei.
Hi Pete. One thing that makes me hesitant is Apple Pay; specifically being able to send money via text to then have the recipient (aka my kids) be able to immediately use the funds via tap to pay. Any recommendations? Thank you sir.

Ive had both iphones and android but always end up using android because i hate the feeling of being restricted in the apple ecosystem. Which is apples steongest point as well. I find android is more intuitive and just feels better for me, plus the typing experience is way better on the gboard/android
Lol I have the s24 ultra and yesterday I had it in my hand unlocked not that close to a terminal and it payed with it even when not that close (was taking a other card but was to late). I think it is more a issue with the terminals in UK. Also the NFC chip is located at the other side of the camera. Your holding it wrong. After adjusting it is fine. PS: I live in belgium.
For the custom notification sound - The app developer simply didn't bother implementing it for android even when they did the same thing for iPhone. For example: Slack, Messenger etc play the custom notification sound on Android because it was implemented by the devs.

There is a setting for one hand operation to drop down the notification panel on One UI.
I also noticed about camera focus, specially when using portrait mode, my friends s24 ultra would be out of focused but my s22 ultra was perfect.
The thing about the contactless pay in general why it gets confuse. Cause if the system lacks apple pay, Samsung pay and Google pay you may put it on the card reader itself and it may work. Like where you swipe the card it may work.
I found that if you tap the phone lower down. Like middle of the phone it works flawlessly. I think it'd the placement of the NFC chip

Be careful switching your photo library to Google photos. If you don’t pay then your photos will be compressed. My brother is an artist and he lost a tonne of his old work because he switched from iCloud to Google photos and everything got compressed.

Well if you have a Garmin watch use that for paying for wirelessly instead of your phone. You will need a Curve card which what was allowed when I set it up 3 years ago but in 3 years it has never failed once, whether I am in the UK, Denmark, Germany or Switzerland
The amazon custom notifcation sound with wind chimes is amaxins fault for not including in android. Android supports it
I've had that issue with the Google wallet even with my Pixel 7 pro and 8 that I had but it depends on the place that I used it. I use it at a drug store with no issues ever but like at a 7/11 sometimes I have an issue.
Maybe the nfc issue is specific to exynos, I use s23+ snapdragon version and I've never had that problem.
I love android but I can’t fully switch away from my iPad. I really want to try beeper but I’ve been put in a waiting list. I don’t like the feature on the Apple where it tells you that your password has been compromised because it let me know about 2 or 3 years ago that I had a password that was compromised so I changed it on the say so of that. And I checked later that day and the Google account that I changed the password I didn’t actually need to so I was locked out of that Google account for 3 months

I’ve never I had a problem with nfc on Samsung. And I use MST on my Samsung gear s3 frontier watch. I can literally use it anywhere as long they accept cc payments.
People say about the display that is bad, especially in the dark. And you have to buy the screen protector from samsung if you want to still have that feature
Philippines doesn't allow nfc from Samsung, Google, or even from Apple. The contactless payment here never really happened, although we have a different alternative.
What about the bad call sound experience you mentioned earlier?

Long time iPhone user here, since the iPhone 2G. Made the switch to Samsung S24, just because my phone wouldn't connect (and stay connected) to transfer all photos and videos over to my PC's. Had to install Google photos.. This made me realise that iPhone just isn't worth it anymore. And 2027 will be an interesting year for all the cellphone users in the EU; companies will only be able to sell smartphones where users can change the battery themselves. I don't see Apple making phones like that.
Recently switched to s24 ultra from iphone 13 after being an apple user since the early 2010s. Something that pleasantly surprised me was that my s24 ultra connects to the Bluetooth speaker where i work in one try whereas with my iphone I would have to disconnect then reconnect at least twice before it would work. Idk why it happened but im definitely glad it doesnt happen anymore😂
Any one use cross platform apps will be easy to switch for IOS to android or vice versa
Don't use Samsung keyboard use Gboard. And if you want to occasionally switch to any of those Samsung Smart features you can just simply do that easily. There's a keyboard button at the bottom that you can switch quickly to and from each custom keyboard 👌🏾

Here in the US my nfc payments work all the time, the nfc chip is in the middle of my S24U, so adjust accordingly. Also, i don't know how can you find the launcher slow when iphone's ios have the slowest animations of any phone.
IOS animation is smooth not slow. This is not android animation.
