Zebra kicks warthog literally into a spasm and then another warthog also have a go at him!

This is not Warthog's day. He's hungry, there's enough feed for everyone, why not skip the hierarchy of the bush today?
Zebra doesn't think so - after the third punch Warthog is hit. While reeling from the blow, another Warthog apparently decides it is time to settle an old score and also have a go at unlucky Warthog!

I've been a hog farmer for the last fifteen years. And I know a domestic hog is a bit different than a Warthog, but when I saw this, I thought of how tough swine are. I'm not surprised that little sucker got up! But wow, what a kick!
Would it be pretty unlikely for it to die later on though? My sister in laws dog took a kick from a calf last year and it was totally fine for about 3 days until the clot that the kick caused finally cut circulation to his brain and he passed. Obviously a pretty different scenario this just reminded me of it, i would imagine a hogs head is substantially thicker than a dogs lol.

I like how a bunch of herbivores (omnivores too I know) are just chilling together and eating, meanwhile; when a carnivore sees another carnivore: “So you have chosen death?”
Bro they weren’t chilling, the zebras were kicking around the warthogs when they got too close and the one who got a headkick probably suffered a major injury after a kick like that. Herbivores just tolerate eachother when it comes to sharing a feeding spot, but they will turn on each other when things get tense

There you go, reopening old wounds...
Bison will do the same thing. When zoologist are doing tagging or checking on bison and they need to sedate them, they need to hang around until the bison is fully awake and recovered because other bison in the herd will attack it if they leave it unattended and staggering around. Triggers an instinct to keep unhealthy members away from the herd This dazed warthog got the same treatment.
If true, then this instinct could be the basis of bullying in humans?
@@ed1pk The basis of bullying is competition for resources and the correlating hierarchy. Take all the rivalries between different species (hyenas vs lions) and rivalries within species (wolf packs of neighboring territories) that are inevitable and forever in flux, for the survival of the groups, and apply that to an individual who seeks out other individual targets that are deemed very easy victims, are not in competition, and are not an impediment for the survival of the individual, you have a bully. I would say the warthog's behavior and the what bison do is the basis for why humans have a natural aversion for mentally challenged, birth defects, other ways the physical naturally triggers certain responses. We have no problem following the initial reflex to avoid anybody we identify as "acting weird".
“Dude, you just got kicked in the head by that dude over there in stripes.” “Where we at?”

Damn that zebra is no joke when it connects with a kick, and that warthog definitely found out the hard way that avoiding a zebra when it's bucking is a good idea
To everyone saying the warthog is attacking its friend, its actually a primitive response to make your pack mate "wake up". Birds primates and rats do it. Rats particularly vicious, when my rats brother was having a seizure in a panic he practically threw his brother into the air.
Good info, thanks.
are you able to provide some evidence of this? I was interested and tried looking it up but my search didnt return any results
Yeah I believe he’s trying to save him from being trampled again or from being attacked while down from another predator.
Hmmm, I have heard of animals attacking other animals who are having a seizure, they can even tell before the spasms. It's less waking them up and more getting rid of a liability.
@@AsRiHack3x2 Why would a warthog waste energy to “get rid of a liability”? Also what exactly is the liability? What negative can a wounded/afflicted warthog do to the others? Some animals kill others of their species but it is pretty much limited to fights over resources like territory, food or mating rights. If he/she truly can’t pull its weight then they will leave it behind or not share food, but to waste energy to kill it? I don’t think so. I originally thought it was an attack also but I think the poster suggesting they were waking / startling the other warthog is correct.

A lot of people don't realise that the reason Zebras were never domesticated like horses and donkeys is because they are known to be very violent and irritable thus obviously very dangerous. Also, they are very strong and their kicks are skull smashers.
that and there backs are not strong enough to carry a full sized male rider. some have been domesticated a guy in London used to have a few pull him around in a carriage but for the most part for the effort it takes the juice just isn't worth the squeeze when it comes to taming zebra
Ironically the only people to domesticate zebras were the Rothschild. It's like 2 myths just decided to hang out
if you lived in the same area code as lions, leopards, wildebeests, elephants, hippos, rhinos, hyenas, cheetas, and so on - you'd have a haor trigger temper too
@@sportfuryman Tamed individuals aren't the same as a domesticated population. Some zebras have been tamed but there's never been an established domesticated population. Domesticating an animal introduces genetic changes and stereotypical physical changes (curly tails, floppy ears, piebald spots, neotenic traits and behaviours, changes to fertility, etc). This is a pattern typical of domesticated mammals and it was demonstrated in the domestic fox experiments (they were only selected for behaviour but the physical changes were seen regardless). Domestication involves selecting for a population that doesn't need intensive effort to tame, they're predisposed towards being tame and relatively docile and approachable compared to wild kin. The size issue was also true of the earliest domesticated horses. Fun fact: That's literally why chariots and war wagons predate cavalry, it took a long time for horses to be bred large enough to be ridden as cavalry. Horses were used in teams to pull vehicles until large enough horses to enable proper cavalry started to appear. Once proper cavalry appeared it replaced chariots in warfare because cavalry is far more mobile and flexible compared to horse-drawn carts. The rise and decline of wheeled vehicles in ancient Eurasian societies is linked pretty closely with how large of mounts can they come up with.
I saw a documentary recently that opened my eyes on how violent & evil Zebras can be - they're all constantly fighting within their own groups, males are always trying to rape females and they're all obsessed with killing or ostracizing babies that aren't their own. It was shocking how many baby zebras got killed by other zebras - the lions were the least of their worries.
That headbutt from the other warthog actually cured it.
