Been smoking for almost two decades, Cannabis is a big part of my life throughout all the ups and downs. It's incredibly nice to hear Xzibit talking about Cannabis. He knows his stuff, and is not just using his celebrity status to make people listen to him like sheep, no, he's legit educating folks with straight up facts.
The thing is most people didn't have access to good quality back then and nowadays everything is good quality so they say it's stronger. Today's bud is also mostly indicas. There's nothing even on the market nowadays that compares to the high flying sativa's that were grown then. The bud nowadays is also starting to lose potency with all the cookie and candy strains that are all inbred to hell. They are starting to lack certain things that the bud of the 90's and early 2000's had. Also the more THC you have the less terpenes and less minor cannabinoids. Trichomes can only hold so much.
This is true. Try weed that has grown in the sun some time. The high is totally different. It makes sense also since it catches the suns entire spectrum unlike weed grown from industrial lights.
It’s explained in Kevin jodrey’s videos “lost terpene profiles of the 80’s skunk strains” and “resurrecting golden age cannabis lines” in some ways it has improved in the industry, in other ways they’ve made it worse with the corporate indoor bud.
Honestly I enjoyed the Mexican brick weed much more than the stuff these days. I feel like the stuff these days is too strong. I miss the old brick weed, it chill me out more than now a days which is like a weak psychedelic to me
@@ThePeacePlantthat old brick was sprayed with all types of bad pest killers. Not to include the high levels of metal in fertilizer they use. I remember finding a dead bird in the middle of a brick one time. We used to get beef stew cans fully sealed with over a p in each can. I do miss the old school fire strains and flavor. Grand daddy purple, Northern lights, white widow, AK 47, blue dream, head band and, a bunch of others.

The only difference now is people know how to grow better. If they had the same strains 40-50 years ago but grown in modern day, it be about as strong as most common bud. A 17% THC with 4% terps will get you higher than a 30% with less than 1% terps

They used to test bricked import weed, so they tested the ENTIRE plant, while now we just test the best buds. Malawi, Thai, Durban all still rip faces, they were just grown and treated poorly and people were smoking leaf and stems. Those old genetics are super potent, fun and happy in a way Gelato stuff never could be, no matter what the THC.

In the US we had garbage from the 70's to the 80's because it was made by amateurs that brought seeds back from Vietnam just letting it grow wild for the most part. The rest of the planet has been making hash from potent strains they had been growing for a thousand years. A lot of the breeding in the last 30 years was to get back to those land race strains from the mess of genetics we made in the 80's. We just have a perspective here that's off because our weed culture stems from an odd time in the plants history that's just a tiny piece of it at it's weakest.
