Bathroom Remodel | Part 5 - Subfloor, Building the Bulkhead, and Installing Electrical and Drywall
Continuing with the bathroom remodel, in this video we put in the plywood subfloor and I build the bulkhead that will house the recessed LED lights and conceal the plumbing vents. In install the exhaust fan and had to drill a 4" hole in the brick wall because the previous exhaust van just vented into the attic. Then I run all the wiring and install the electrical boxes and switches. I get Kat to put in all the insulation. I install the pocket door frame, but I haven't built the door yet. Making the door will likely be in Part 11 of this series. Then we finish up with the installation of the drywall.
In this series of videos I will be transforming an awkwardly laid out 5ft x 7ft bathroom into a 7ft x 7ft bathroom with modern updates, a curbless shower with a glass panel, a pocket door, and an LED lighted shower niche.

No instructions with the pocket door kit--wow. That's a big "fail" for the manufacturer. A pocket door really is a great solution to saving space. We put one in one of our bathrooms and it has worked like a charm.
Mike - I love that you completed the remodel before editing the videos and that you are drip-feeding these every day. The bad news is that now I'm sitting here thinking I can remodel my bathroom in a few days! Great work as always!
Haha! I wish I it was completed!!! I'm working my butt off every evening so that I can have the last four videos ready. Time is running out, but I'm determined to get it done.
@@Woodumakeit Even more impressive! Can't wait to see it when it's finished.
In answer to “Would U Make it”…mine is YES, in fact, I did 3X in my house! I certainly am able to appreciate all the work and the satisfaction involved in the completion.
Fantastic, Mike! It's really coming out nicely! 😃 Stay safe there with your family! 🖖😊
So much work required to tear out and remodel an old house bathroom!!
thanks
Sorry Mike, those pocket doors don't come with even a dimension sheet either!!, I remember when they had an instruction sheet years ago !
Is the insulation on backwards? Is the paper not to the outside wall because it is brick? Or maybe an inside wall for noise insulation? Thx
Mike, what are your thoughts on Rockwool vs. Fiberglass Batts insulation? I’m remodeling a few rooms and wondering which one to get… ? TIA
Rockwool is a little more expensive, but I think it's better for sound deadening. If you happen to have a bandsaw, that's a great way to get nice cuts with rockwool.
