#NightofTooManyStars host Jon Stewart is interrupted by Donald Trump (James Austin Johnson) while pitching online auction items to benefit #NEXTforAutism. Bidding ended Dec 21. #NightofTooManyStars also featured Adam Sandler, Chris Rock, Paul Rudd, Jon Oliver, Darlene Love, Jim Gaffigan, Rachel Bloom, Sarah Sherman, Steve Buscemi, Sam Morrill and Rob Schneider. It took place at the Beacon Theater in New York on Dec. 11., 2023.
Night of Too Many Stars was produced and created by longtime SNL and Conan O’Brien writer/producer Robert Smigel and Michelle Saks Smigel, who struggled to find effective education for their own autistic son, Daniel. The Smigels’ extended comedy family has been supporting this event over the past 20 years and has raised over 30 million dollars to support schools and programs that enhance the lives of autistic individuals, specifically in the areas of education, home, work, social, health and well-being.
Thanks to the generosity of Night of Too Many Stars sponsors and participants, NEXT has funded more than 350 grant projects at 145 organizations across the U.S., impacting more than 100,000 autistic individuals.
Also joining the event was NEXT partner the Eagles Autism Foundation and Popcorn for the People, an organization created to provide career opportunities for autistic adults.
The night paid a special tribute to Donald Triplett (1933 - 2023), who is recognized as the first person to be diagnosed with autism.
Online auction items were:
- Chef's dinner prepared by Michael Solomonov at his famed Philadelphia restaurant, Zahav with Jason and Kylie Kelce
- Tommy Hilfiger personally picks your seasonal wardrobe (clothes worth up to $5,000!) at a styling session at his New York City Madison Avenue showroom
- A day in the studio with the son of Biggie Smalls, actor/producer “CJ” Wallace (along with a surprise guest or two) followed by COURTSIDE SEATS with suite access at a Brooklyn Nets game at Barclays Center.
I love how when Jon backpedals away, James Austin Johnson just walks straight at him - there's no escaping the Trump
Because we all know that's exactly what 45 would do.
"Where the hell'd ya go?"
James Austin Johnson absolutely nails the Trump impersonation every time. His cadence and ability to do the Trump stream of consciousness tangents is amazing.
While true I bet he has to have a therapy session after every performance to get that stuff out of his head .....
Makes the 2016 election all worth it. /s
😎👌
not even that, he's got his body language down flawlessly!
If this were to be audio only I would be able to barely tell the difference between him and Trump.
this Trump impression is somehow both extremely funny and scary
Because it's the most accurate.
It was boring.
They should have given him a 'hands free head mike' so that he could do more of donnie dump's famous 'hand gestures' (ie 'the accordion') 🤑
@@masterofallgoons Shane Gillis is better.
@@stuwest3653 - Shane's is great. This dude's is more accurate.
James Austin Johnson has some serious skills
I will admit I thought he was a talented performed who owed much to the SNL writing staff - but seeing him ad lib on his own in the fragmented gibberish style of DJT is pretty killer.
@@condemned1982 nothing against the SNL writing staff who are amazing, but the stream of conscience thing is all JAJ - look up him as Trump talking about pokemon before SNL :D
I always forget his name and where he’s from. James Texas Johnson. I got it now
@@condemned1982I feel like much of his stuff on SNL is benefitting from his own writing though.
He's amazing! The band and everyone are losing it at his improv
What's crazy is that you can tell this wasn't a script. He was doing improv the whole time which is why Jon was losing it. But that also just shows you how damn good James Austin Johnson is. If you were just listening to it instead of watching, you might think it really was him. He's got the tone, voice and cadence down to perfection.
Yes, SNL should take the leash off!
What leash? This is exactly what he does in SNL
@@jasonmurdoc9533 I disagree , SNL is cue cards, maybe this last show was the first time I thought they let him ad lib, I noticed during the cold open.
@@paulreedsmith22 I know but the jokes are the same level is what I mean. It’s not like they are stopping him from being funny or controversial. There’s this idea by people that don’t watch snl that it’s this PC show that doesn’t offend but it’s a very raunchy show. This read to me like another of snl is holding him back but I swear it was the exact same jokes he makes on snl
@@jasonmurdoc9533 I’m an SNL watcher, saw Sandler last year. In my 40’s, this was his best “Trump” I had seen up to the date of the show, and Stewart’s reactions helped, it’s all good 👍 EDIT “on the show”
He has Trump’s train of thought down so good it’s scary.
toy train of thought, but yes, nailed that.
@topangacreek in every conceivable metric, your life was better under Trump whether you like it or not
@@sternandrew1oh sure like he did so good during the pandemic playing it down and decided to become a dictator and Capone wannabe brainless Maga.
@@sternandrew1560k people would like to answer that statement, but they sadly died over the 3 months Trump ignored a global pandemic. 🤷♂️
@@sternandrew1 You're confusing right-wing propaganda and wishful thinking with facts. Trump inherited a healthy economy from Obama, who had taken it from the recession precipice of the 2007-09, and it was steadily expanding. Under Agent Orange, job growth was unimpressive, and inflation was tame before the pandemic. But wages were flat, and increases in the gross domestic product and job creation were more or less a continuation of trends that began in the Obama years rather than a direct result of any changes that Trump made. Trump's tax cut helped the stock market and the one-percent (including himself) but not the average Americans. I actually paid more in taxes in the year the new tax rules went into effect even though my income hadn't changed. The tax cut was the major driver of the size of the U.S. debt.
That is tiny hands down the best Donald Trump impersonation I have ever seen.
Just need to give him a fat suit.
I kind of preferred alec baldwin
@Nick-fg4dq He def was a bit closer to physicality as far as weight, still not as fat as Truml & they did the wig/eyebrows better on Alec. He also has short, stubby fingers.

James gets the Trump deviation when he speaks so perfectly. Trump goes off on so many tangents when speaking and James nailed it here. His voice is perfect too. Best Trump impression I have seen in years
People have been saying satire is dead, but somehow Johnson doesn't just nail the cadence and rhythm, the mannerisms, the common word usage, but he treads that fine line of referencing the genuine terrible stuff while still mocking it.
