Theme Song by Hello Control: bit.ly/hellocontrol
I got into trouble in college because of a rain scene in a short I made because the tutor realised I hadn't signed out any rain protection for the cameras for the shoot. His face when I told him the rain wasn't real was priceless. He bought me a beer after college that day to apologise for going off on me lmao
THATS AWESOME MICHAEL
@@shitchops Take off that headset, sir.
This is the best lie of the year
Wow🤔😂🤣🤣
@@lcssandkengofficial9486 i dont think he is lieing
I love VFX shots like this. The kinds that you wouldn't even consider to have much "touching up" (maybe aside from color grading) because they blend so well with the original footage. Killing it as always guys!
Yes, as always killing
This looks much better than I would have thought. You really put a lot of effort into the depth, scale and lighting.
I love the behind the scenes of Josh and Emily! Amazing results as usual!
Same, I just love seeing all of their interactions as a family
That was amazing how real you got that to look!
yes
Legitimately have a band wanting to do a rain scene in their next music video. This is gold.
This was incredible
One of my projects back in film school involved filming indoors with rain, blood, and fire all involved. I built a rain machine using 2x4s with a spiraled hose with holes in it and then someone would stand above it on a ladder and pour water from the school's water fountain in a funnel that would trickle into the hose and create rain over my actor who was covered in blood by a chair that was set on fire for real. My actor also got sunburn from the lights over the intense 3 day shoot. I spent 8 months on the project... I got a B+. Not even an A.
Bro I would of just died
I wanna watch it
I really wish you guys would have more fun during your shoots lol. Seriously though, I've always admired your family dynamic, it's pretty rad.
I looked for tutorials about making VFX rain for a few years already and never could find anything good. I experimented myself trying to come up with some realistic ideas but again didn't really work. Now this video is totally gold. Thank you!
Y’all’s skits need to be expanded upon into bigger stories, that opening was SO GOOD.
I love the skit! It's amazing how many horror movies forgo that kind of suspense, and just use cheap jumpscares instead. Well done!
You guys never fail to impress me with what you can do with effects
Geez, this is amazing. When I saw the shot I thought this was going to be more of a practical episode. You guys blew me away
I am huge on atmosphere. So this is amazing! Great job! Also love the chemistry between Josh and Emily. We need more of that going foward!
I thought for sure the first time I saw the rain in the wide shot that it was practical. Genuinely amazing results! ✨
This is an awesome breakdown. Specifically, the blending of the practical effects with the hose blending with the digital assets. Definitely something we should have thought about when we did our first short that involved rain lol. It definitely didn't look this good. As always, you guys are the best for helping filmmakers to achieve their goals at any budget/skill level!
This looks so good. The wind on the raincoat really helped with the wide shot as well as well
Watching you guys from year one, it was a love-"hate" relationship, cause you gave me more inspiration and love for this craft, as you put more fear in me for even attempting to enter this business.
I remember subscribing after the original rain video back in the day. Time truly does fly!
Frickin' love you guys, nothing but respect and admiration for you all, for your hard work, to teach us something so amazing. Thank you so much.
Unbelievable, great work. Can't believe how realistic this looks.
I'm from Brazil, I'm really enjoying the videos now that I'm studying video editing and VFX, thank you very much, teach us everything
Insane! I've been following you guys since that old video of practical rain in the backyard... awesome!
This is solid gold. Not every movie can benefit from electricity bolts or gunfire, but rain...super versatile.
So cool. Love the close up of the knife - looks particularly realistic to me and the grade looks sooo nice!
The Emily and Josh shots are so cute on top of an already amazing tutorial :ooo
oh my god, i thought it was going to be a failry complex way of maybe using some cgi or effect but actually utilising already made footage but just making it transparent? honestly this is blowing my mind, it's easier and more simple than i ever would have come up with xd thank you so much!
wow Amazing and Very Very Nice Video Superb 👍👍👌👌💯💯🙏🙏🙏🙏.....
Dude this looks so fucking real omg
LETS GOOOOO BABY NEW VIDEO always love to see a new one drop this one is super useful, keep up the good work!!
You guys & girl once again had me laughing out loud. You guys 🤣 Must be so much fun to be around. Emily & Josh that made my day. 👍🏼🙌🏼 Not gunna lie, I want to try this out even more now. I see the car scene from action VFX which was inspiring but you guys just made that inspiration rocket. Thank you.
These Emily and Josh cutaways were the best lol. Very cool effect. Thanks for sharing!
Josh is hilarious. I've said it before, and I'll say it again, you guys could really do great if you started your own mini series on here. Sci-fi / comedy adventures, I would tune in for every episode.
I don't even like compositing and vfx, and this made me amazed.
The best vfx rain at youtube. Great work guys!!!
Man that turned out looking super realistic.
The "make it rain" song was playing in my head during the flashback
Wow! Look at the amount of work needed for this awesome shot footage! 👏🏻 U guys are great!
Incredible content, best VFX I've seen on KZhead in a long time.
진짜 봐도 봐도 신기하다 여기...😍
Ahh filmriot, I came back to your channel to look for teleportation tourettes, can't believe I wasn't subscribed for some reason. Love your videos, I remember watching you guys so much back in the day when 1080p was a pipe dream only very few channels had. I hope all of you are doing amazingly well :)
Dang that looks real :o I still remember using ccRain or whatever the effect was back then and it wasn't great haha
This is one of my new favorites
Amazing result! You are the best!
Insane execution 💯💯💯
Great tutorial. I love how you break it up with the funny outtakes. That always helps with longer tute's, although, this was a short one. Thanks for the content.
This is so awesome!!! You guys rock! Keep 'em coming!
TNice tutorials is literally the best tutorial on KZhead. It's right to the point, and very informative at the sa ti. Thank you so much
It's stuff like this that blows my mind! Awesome video!
The transition from all the rain to none at 10:29 just seems like normal Florida weather...
"I just look like a trash bag" :D
Great explanation
Rains one of my favorite elements! Thanks for sharing. I'll have to try them out in Hit Film. 😎
I asked Andrew at conference once if he could do a rain tutorial for VC. He said it was way to hard.. I'm stoked you tackled it!
definately gonna use in future projects
Man you are amazing ,your tutorials are always on point
Damn it must be cool working with your family like this.
You guys have come so far. So much skill.
Wow! You're a natural teacher. I feel like I can do Nice tutorialts now
That was awesome - so inspiring, I'm going to try it myself.
A really funky (yet easy) work around that I used to create haze or a promist feel is using an adjustment layer with the blend mode set to screen and gaussian blur turned up to like 400 and then just lower the opacity to liking. Not the same as red giant but great say to add haze in premiere without the glow effect
I use this for fog I think it works well :)
Now I gotta do this in DaVinci.
@@evilpigskin I don’t know if da Vinci has adjustment layers but you can always duplicate the footage and do it that way
@@evilpigskin Davinci has a build in effect named glow. Make a parallel node with the footage as is below and add the glow effect to the upper node. Set the mode to light source only and adjust the glow threshold and lower the overall gain if needed. Can't wish for more. ✌️
OMG! that was mind blowing!
This looks so awesome!
Just watched the old wand episode...boy remember when "Ry" spoke super fast? Me too..also still waiting for you to jump over to Full Sail for advice from the pros ;)....Booya indeed
Wow that's intricate & crazy but it looks great.
This is a great tutorial to see what can be done by someone familiar with all the tools. If I, as someone coordinating production of a film project, handed a scene to someone and asked them to "make it rain" (presuming this person knew what they were doing), how long should it take to put something like this in place? Is this an hour's effort? A day? Presume that the shot had been done with all the necessary components, and they only needed to do the digital work.
Shooting a music video for an actress on Disney this weekend and she wants a very climactic end of the video rain scene but it won’t be raining this weekend. This just saved my life! I’ll definitely use some practical water mixed in with the digital. Looks extremely realistic, well done!
your life was in danger because it wasn't going to rain? that's one tough life there
@@RojoSostenido corny
I love this shot
You are the king, best tutorial ever
That is amazing!! Can’t wait to get this myself!
This was beautifully done! 👌🏽
This is incredibly helpful! Thank you so much
I thought you guys had a rain machine on set! That looks amazingly real!!!
I wish I was your childhood buddy! :) Awesome work!
Damn that looked amazing!💯
unbelievably amazing
OMG this is so nice, looks like Hollywood movie 😍
カッコよすぎます‼️
Incredible!!! eu não imaginava que tinha tantos pequenos detalhes, tantas coisas que nem mesmo estavam lá de verdade
Thank you so much for this tut - just what I need for an upcoming project!! (I'll need to do re-write 27 though...) Preparation is critical. Practice is mandatory. LEARNING via Excellent tutorials - my Go To: Film Riot.
This is absolutely bloody brilliant :)
Great episode as always!
Wow, just wow! 💜
loved the chemistry of Emily and Josh!
why is this channel so underrated?
Well done once again folks! It's amazing to see how advanced Film Riot has become yet it still maintains the fun from the early days. From the drunken Irishman : )
Jeezus. This is so good.
This is awesome
This is incredible
You guys are crazy!!!! I love it!
Randomly came across this awesome video and then randomly saw the Pal's 10 minutes from my house 3:32. What a small world!
Damn, Everything Looks really good and the explanation really helped a lot. Such a Cool Effect.
HOLY SH*T YOU BY FAR ARE THE MOST TALENTED WITH VFX I'VE SEEN ON KZhead!
Loving these tutorials 😎✨
the power of editing is honestly deadly
