Felicia is raised by her mom's best friend and her husband. Initially Felicia can only speak Thai, but with her adopted mom and dad's and sisters love she grows up like any other girl. They love her like their own child and give her a stable home. But deep inside Felicia feels alone and she does not know how to voice her feelings. When her Melanie dies and Vanessa is released from prison and return to South Africa Felicia feels all alone in this world. She feels like she is a mistake and that she does not belong in this world. Years of rebellion and self harming follows.
