  • True. Losing to Moraes the first time made this recent win a much much bigger deal. If DJ just swept the entire line of opponents straight to the belt when he first came to One Championship - I am sure many would just disregard him and say he's only fighting cans. The adversity, the challenging matches, and the loss he took; all added to the glory of him finally winning the belt. Also, I must say, One Championship has a really good product. Fights were insane from top to bottom in that Amazon Prime debut!

But to win a belt in the UFC first, defend it 11 times consecutively, then to go to ONE in your mid to late 30s, which arguably has a deeper division in the lower weight classes, and then pick up the belt. • DJ was competitive on the ground in the first round. He did a lot of damage from his back and was threatening submissions. The second round was rough, DJ got hurt but Moraes spent a lot of energy. Coming into the third DJ looked fresh, crisp and ready, while Moraes looked beaten and exhausted. At the start of the 4th I said out loud Moraes looked like he wanted out of the fight. He is big for the division and I think that caught up to him when DJ was fresh but he was spent. That 4th round DJ was completely outclassing him. Overall I saw (if we were to judge by rounds) at worse 2-2 but a real argument could be made for a split round 1 or even for DJ. I don’t think he was losing the fight when he won.

Have no clue how anyone could claim DJ was losing that fight after watching, As it seemed clear he was starting to put it on Moraes as he was def fading. That 4th round he seemed dejected, And DJ stayed aggressive. And that KO was a thing of beauty. Moraes is legit still a beast tho.

    • I didn't like Moraes' look at the face-offs. Moraes appeared uncertain, while DJ was radiating confidence and most vivid fighter spirit. Moraes missed weight and failed the hydration test (BTW, did he make up weight and hydration in the last hours?). In the fight Moraes looked repressed as well. Giving ground, overreacting on feints. Still doing good, but after first say two rounds his energy seemed to fade, he was not eager to fight. Demetrious - phenomenal 👏👏👏 I don't think he was losing the fight.

      @lo0k3r@lo0k3r Жыл бұрын
    • Agreed DJ was competitive on his back in R1 but he still clearly lost it in my view. But I totally agree about the energy and intentions of both fighters come late on. Even if DJ hadn't stopped Moraes, the way things were going, he would have coasted comfortably to a 3-2 decision. Caveat: I'm not familiar how One score MMA fights. If it's based on overall strikes, control and damage then it would likely have been a much closer fight.

  • I think 2 major things played into DJ’s push; 1) he explained because One FC scores based on the entirety of the fight and not round by round, there was no concern at the end of 2 rounds. I do believe the tide was changing and he won the third (for us UFC fans) because he indicated to Matt Hume in between the third and fourth round that it was ‘Zombie Time’. 2) Moraes trains at ATT in Florida, no slouch gym by any means so we know he trains with absolute killers but DJ pointed out that his biggest take away from working with Henry was that his clinch/knee game was greater than even he gave himself credit for and that showed in how many knees he threw in that fight and most landed in my opinion. Great Fight

  • Chael Sonnen reminds us just how good he really is. Chael's first fight was 5/10/1997. This video was released 8/29/2022 and not only has Chael never lost a fight or a round, but his biceps are bigger than ever and his neck is also twice the size of any human being on the planet. I tip my hat to you good sir.

  • I remember when Agassi said: "If your parents BUY you a car, no big deal. But if you have to WORK for that car...you truly appreciate that car." (that's when he won the FRENCH OPEN in 99!) or 98??? 🤔 LOL! anyway..... I'll go with DJ in #3! He's a professional, on every level, and wouldn't let that fixture slip out of his resume. He's humble...but he's a viscous warrior! I wouldn't mistake his calm, easy energy as "Weakness." He's a GLADIATOR!!!!

  • True. The win of Moraes wasn't a fluke coz if you watch One Championship you'll see alot of killers, I can totally say that One Muay Thai is the most legit Muay Thai competition in the world When the One CEO talked about One Champions vs UFC champions, I thought he was on drugs. But if you look closely on their champions, some of them can beat the one's on UFC in the same weight Pacio=figgy(maybe) but brooks>figgy DJ>aljo(no doubt) Lineker
