I get that Matt is rightfully criticizing Disney for ruining characters but you can't really ruin TCW or Rebels characters, they were awful to begin with. Dave Filoni has never come up with a character as likable as Lucas did in his films. And Filoni's decision and Disney's continued decision to try to replace the Luke/Han/Leia and Anakin/Obi Wan/Padme dynamic continues to be a f*cking disaster. Every other new replacement main cast member f*cking sucks. Ahsoka sucks, Rey sucks, Sabine sucks, Ezra sucks, Rex sucks, Finn sucks, everyone of them sucks and is boring and lame and cringe. Rogan is right, if it ain't got Luke or Vader (Anakin) as the MC, it's just a scam to get your money, it's not real Star Wars. The only exceptions to this is some handpicked old EU stuff that was made with passion by fans under Lucas's supervision, and somehow got it all right like with a few of the video games and novels.

Really? Does it? Have you heard the Star Wars community talk about anything post Disney takeover? It's all negative or mediocre. No one is singing the praises of modern Star Wars. He's not some outlier. All Sera really says is someone using the force over a lightsaber is automatically a wimp despite the fact that Yoda was way more bad ass when he didn't use a saber and that sci-fi characters should live by the same code as the manly men of a subculture that used to kiss each other on the lips.

I really wanted to but it was terrible. I also strongly dislike the Sequel trilogy. I pretend it doesn’t exist. I hope that one day it gets removed from canon.
the slow character development of asoka in clone wars was so well done. they actually had a strong female character that fans liked and in one live action season took a hugh dump on it.

To your first point, it literally made no sense for him to refuse the lightsaber. Sabine is an expert with blasters and had bescar armor on. Ezra was basically fighting handicap for no reason, literally the next episode he was fighting with a lightsaber. The moment came across as the writers not wanting Ezra to outshine Sabine. And let’s not get into Sabine being force sensitive and no one knowing even though she lived with two Jedi for multiple years…
