  • side note for grapplers: when in the clinch you can often literally reach for the back of the knee (if not then pull them squared) when you get a hold of the back of the knee you can pull yourself to his leg for a single leg, and from a single leg you can transition to the double leg (source: john Danaher )

  • I think you mentioned it in the video, but I recently became a big fan of dealing with a sprawl by stepping up with one leg, moving the head out to that side as you slide the knee in closer. It lets you get under them, make that grip around the leg super deep, and then rotate up. I'm definitely more partial to variations 3 and 4 though, as everyone at my gym will immediately throw on a guillotine if they see the top of your head haha

      @MMAShredded@MMAShredded Жыл бұрын
  • Good job ! :) Yes, takedowns are the most powerfull weapon for the wrestlers/grapplers vs strikers, that's for sure ! Nevertheless, notice the distance - it's always almost toe to toe or even closer, otherwise it won't work ! Nobody can take anybody down from a good kicking distance, I don't care if he/she is even a Khabib Super-Dupermagomedov like, it just doesn't work ! And it's not about only the distance, it's the counter kick's, that's the essenrial moment ! And forget about those boring roundhouse(low, middle, high), I'm talking about Jon Jones, stamp those knees, as a counter, NOT attack ! And keep the distance at the same time... Of course, it won't make you invincible and it's not easy, not at all, but it's worth it as a tactic and strategy against good wrestlers and grapplers... Knees to the face are a good option too, but that's not the first line of fire, anyway... :) Remember Masvidal... ?! ;) Well, that was a lucky knee, but, nevertheless, a powerfull shot and...game over ! :) Stay safe and strong, everybody ! One more time, good job, Jeff, love your videos ! :)

Its called a (standing) backtake, in general you want to go for a slam if your opponent base is high. if his base is low you can go for a dragdown or a sacrifice throw where you extend one of your legs as a barrier. 3th option would be to drop down and entagle one of his legs for a leglock attack.
