The vegan burgers at fast food chains aren't really there to attract individual vegans, they are there so that groups of friends who have 1 vegan in the mix don't immediately exclude that chain from their choices because one person can't eat there. And also for non-vegans who wanna maybe try it out of curiosity. My bff has been vegetarian for 8 years and for ages my whole friend group did not go to McDonalds bc of her, we'd pick other places that could please everyone.
very good point!!
I can say your best friend is so lucky to have you all 🥺
I agree with you, though in case of the Whopper I'd ask anyone, vegan or not, to just try it. Imo it is at least as good as the meat whopper, maybe even better.
sounds like good marketing
Wow..I am happy to know that people like this exist...(me a vegetarian)
I'm living for Ollie's facial expressions as Josh read him the blurb for the BK Burger 😂😂😂

So perfectly animated 😂

A big shout out to Josh for not calling Ollie an idiot even once in this episode! Well done, we're proud of you!
Yes I too am proud that Ollie was not an idiot in this video.
@@sebastianolsson9063 Ollie is never an idiot.
Ollie trying to rock the southern accent was a highlight for me...especially his spectacularly British pronunciation of plant.
He sounded much better than I expected. I guess he's seen enough American movies with bubba types in them.
💯
I was impressed!!
Honestly that what I'm saying. It wasn't as bad as I thought it was. He could have passed at some points 😂, like not southern but maybe Midwestern trying to do a southern accent
@@kenzh32 I'm in Nashville and it wasn't horrible ;)
As a born and raised citizen of Kentucky, I’d like to say that Ollie’s accent - while more broadly Southern than specifically Kentuckian - was not bad. I’ll be honest, was expecting something a bit more caricatured, but he did quite well. Definitely some accurate elements of Georgia and South Carolina accent in there.
I'm glad I skimmed the comments before commenting because I was going to say much the same thing. I'm NC born and bred and I was impressed. ( Bless his heart)
I also immediately went Georgia/SC!!! Good ear! ❤️🖤
As someone not from America who can’t tell the difference between southern accents, I thought it was spot on.
I thought the same (SC)! But was also impressed it sounded like a real southern American accent of any sort. From Tennessee but close enough to recognize Kentucky.
I am born and raised Kentucky, and he sounds something closer to South Carolina. But, I can't say that I haven't heard someone who sounds like him around here. Lol
Ollie's facial expression when Josh read the Bur'King Blurb and the Kentucky accent made me laugh non stop😂
I love the western accent! Definitely not Kentucky though lol😂
I’m from KY… I can say I’ve definitely heard worse. 😂
And he still pronounced the 'h' in herb
4:16 Ollie's "Kentucky" accent is hilarious! It's a mix of Southern, Texan, Midwest, and bluegrass Kentucky! 🤣
There's a movie with Sam Elliot where he is a radio commercial voice actor and that's what it reminded me of, although not as deep
As a non-USian I couldn't tell the difference between these, but I thought Texan would be considered Southern actually... Guess I was mistaken :)
In India, you will get a lot of vegetarian burgers probably not vegan and they are really good, it really depends country to country as in India a lot people are vegetarian so there are many options, so if you ever get a chance do try those.
Oh yes, I was just going to comment that, the McDonald's Veg burgers really are my favourite. I absolutely love the American Cheese Supreme burger from McD, which is yours??
@@nehapurba9295 the new gourmet burgers are good too with the piri piri spice and of course, what you said is a classic vegetarian favourite

As a life long vegetarian (not vegan) I've eaten a LOT of vegetable burgers, some good, some not so good and some really good ones, I'll have to agree that as far as commercially available to the general public options, the Whopper is by far the best. It really comes down to the toppings and I'm an "all the way" guy - everything on it and ketchup, mustard, mayo and pickles. Of course a good, sturdy bun makes all the difference as well. By the way, Ollie's southern accent is pretty damn good! (I'm a southern boy as well). You should come to Charleston, SC and take it all in - the geographical beauty of the rivers and the bays and the ocean (and beaches) along with the stunning architecture, culture, arts and, most importantly, the FOOD! You'll see - come and visit.
I've been a vegetarian for eight years and the first years were rough when it came to dinner with friends because there weren't any options in big chains like BK and McDonalds, so I'm really glad they have something now. It's not something I eat regularly, but having the option now is really convenient. And the best burger is from Burger King, BY FAR. Their vegetarian (not sure if vegan) nuggets are also bomb.

@@SwagMonztr The local Burger King in my area refuses to microwave their Impossible Whoppers. They did at first for the initial 3 orders but the last 3-4 times I went they told me that they couldn't accommodate that. I also used to work at Burger King (back in the early 2000's though) and we used to cook the veggie burgers in the microwave, can't see why that is so difficult for the new vegan burgers?
Yes! I generally do do fast food but plant based Whooper is sooo goood. I could eat it every day. Nuggets are ok but I generally don't like stuff like that. Too dry and bland. Country burger is also very good. Their entire plant based menu is great.
Regarding the comments in the beginning of the Video, I'm vegetarian and yes, even as a vegetarian you encounter that 5 AM drunk as hell moment where there's nothing better than fast-food, so yeah I'm very glad BKs vegan options exist (their plant based "chicken" is even better then the "beef")

I'm not vegan but sometimes these do in a pinch! I had to fly internationally during the start of the pandemic and the only food available at the layover airport was BK with limited options. Got a Beyond Meat sandwich and it was great👍 I don't generally like burgers though 🤭
Same...I'll have to keep in mind that it's okay! (I generally avoid high sodium stuff before long flights)
Yeah, the "replacement" fast food options have gotten a lot better over the years. I mean, I used to like veggie burger back in the 80's and 90's, but only very specific brands. It's become a lot easier to get a decent veggie fast food option these days. And just to point out, I'm not vegan or vegetarian, I just like how some of the veggie options taste. heh
Agreed. It's nice as an option if you're in a jam and need something to eat to fill you for a few hours. I think the BK one was the best one compared to McD's, just for the taste alone.
It is Impossible not Beyond, I prefer Beyond texture and nutrition (it is pea protein not soy isolate) but the beat juice in it gives it a bit of a strange smell.

The Plant based Whopper is NOT vegan.... Google it!
@@VidyaChandrika93 it's cooked on the same grill that the meat is cooked on. For many vegans, they still want to support Burger King bringing plant based options to the market. No animals are harmed in the making of the burger and that's the most important thing.

2:36 displays the faces and VO combination that just made me subscribe to this channel. Good onya! The Impossible Whopper, as it's called here in the States, really is a good simulacrum of the beef version. I'd love to see the McPlant -- but with a much better name -- over on this side of the pond. Also, that accent was a pretty good simulacrum, itself. Props from an actual U.S. Southerner (Alabama).

When I remember "imitation" meatfor vegan I remember tempeh, a food ingredient made from soybeans. It's one of the foods that comes from Indonesia but I saw in some vlogs which showed that in England there were many who made tempeh and sold it. Maybe you two are interested in trying fried tempeh.
I've been to vegetarian restaurants that used it, and enjoyed what I ordered. But I have to be careful about sodium

0:13 hahaha my friend will give you a proper lecture if she heard you saying that irl. One of her biggest disappointments is when we go to a vegan place and they offer overpriced green salads. Yes, there are a lot of vegans that are into the health scene but in my experience the majority is vegan because of moral consideration such as animal welfare, Earth preservation, etc. Making sure all types of food and cuisine without exception are easily available in a vegan format is the main way those goals can be met (i.e. minimising the cognitive dissonance that comes from the completely valid mindset of “I want to eat what I like / what I’ve grown up with / what represents my cultural belonging” but do so in a way that is not harmful to others, to animals and to our planet)

My faves are definitely McPlant and the KFC burger... unfortunately the vegan whopper isn't officially certified vegan because they cook it on the same grill as real meat... bit disappointing for those of us that can't eat it because of that 😭😭😭
You can ask them to clean the grill before cooking it
In Australia they apparently have a different grill for the burges at Hungry Jacks.
Most restaurants use the same grill. It is still considered vegan because you're not directly contributing to animal suffering. That being said - the vegan whopper uses impossible meat and while that is considered vegan now they used to test on animals. :/
@@jennifert8542 As someone who works in BKs as a contractor, not an actual BK employee. That is NOT going to happen. It takes at least an hour to break down the broiler and clean it properly. I am really torn when it comes to vegetarian or vegan substitutes for meat. I have been a vegetarian for 20 years now, and even if it now is more because of how the animals are treated, it started because I stopped liking meat. So I can't eat substitutes options that are supposed to be as similar to meat as possible, for example beyond burger. I rather have lenthil or halloumi burgers. Alright, so McDonald's actually has another vegan main, the spicy veggie wrap is fully vegan. The burger king whopper IS NOT vegan, it is plant based but is cooked on the same grill as beef so it's covered in meat juices. They do have a vegan chicken burger though that is actually vegan. And then we come to kfc that has a vegan chicken burger but beware of the fries/chips, these are not vegan at kfc as they are cooked with chicken.
It really depends on what type of vegan you are- some vegans don’t care about the product being cooked next to or on the same grill, so long as the actual meat is vegan.
