"The Return" by Karl Lagerfeld - CHANEL
In December 1953, Coco Chanel began her incredible return to center stage. The designer reopens her Haute Couture house after fifteen years of absence. The collection is welcomed by the French press with an icy silence. Only the American media supports the looks that define the rebirth of Chanel's style. "The Return" retraces this determining period, that shaped the legend of the designer of rue Cambon forever.
"The Return," imagined, written and directed by Karl Lagerfeld, features Geraldine Chaplin in the role of Gabrielle Chanel, Rupert Everett, Anna Mouglalis, Lady Amanda Harlech, Arielle Dombasle, Kati Nescher, Vincent Darré and Sam McKnight.

"I don't talk about fashion. I never talk about fashion, I talk about style. I talk about my style."
I love Chanel. Not just their clothing and stuff, but their KZhead Chanel! They make commercials, and even short films with such creativity, quality, and class. And what's amazing is that it is really entertaining and they just don't hire any celeb, especially messy ones. you know? You won't see Kim Kardashian modeling for these folks. The people in the commercials and campaigns generally don't have an ugly image and have a good mark and taste in fashion. Chanel has a standard and that's one of the reason why I respect them so much.

What she said at the end hit me like an arrow to the heart. " a woman who has never been loved or has loved; is lost, in fact she's as good as dead." Made me realize something about myself that I've secretly known all my life.
+NADS IQ well when u have lived my life then u can make that judgment.
+NADS IQ I understand ur point now. Maybe next time be a lil more specific.lol but in all honesty I don't live for myself, if that were the case I wouldn't be here. I definitely don't live to find that person either, I gave up on romance long ago. I live for my family, my mother, sister and my nephew, n I live for the hope of one day having my own child and living for them. Everything else is just trivial and temporary.
+Rossandra Ortiz Torres Straight in the feels.
well I love myself, which, I think, I'm beloved. Oh and I suppose the 'style' Madame Chanel was talking about is one's spirit or soul (characteristics, personality, knowledge, thoughts , point of view, life experiences, and so on).
+NADS IQ haha yeah...I know lol
love her, she said she doesn't dress to look younger or richer. agreed.
Love that her pearls were fake. I inherited some real ones from my Mother & they were promptly stolen.😒

Please do!! We desperately need it!!

I love this actress that's playing Coco- I've never heard of her but she is SO fun to watch. Thank you for these!
She's Charlie Chaplin's daughter, Geraldine & yes,I thought she was terrific as well👍!
+ROBYN MARKOW I guess talent runs in the family :)
+Juliet Hope Wayne Geraldine Chaplin was a very well-known actress in her early career. She played Doctor Zhivago's wife Tonya opposite Omar Sharif in the 1965 movie.

+Noe Berengena woah! thanks for the info- I'm happy to have more of her work to check out. I just google-imaged her. What a sweet face. Cheers!
Wonderful job. An Oscar for the woman who played Coco C.
Amen! and screw all these fucktards that have nothing but hate, bunch of snobby fashion nazis
The actress, Geraldine Chaplin, is Charlie Chaplin's daughter. She played Tonya in the Doctor Zhivago movie.

Love her timeless style. When my daughter was 2 years old & found a cute dress for her at a thrift shop & told her it was a "Coco Channel dress"😉. She would repeat that mantra every time she wore it. It had that 'Coco' style. Also we named the cat 'Coco' after her.
"the most important thing for a woman is know that she's been loved. to love is easy, everyone can love but to be loved..." one of the best quote of all time!!
I saw this short film and ended fascinated with the little piece of Coco's story. After that, I started to look at the comments and find out that most of the people are complaining about the accent, the scenario and other things. I think the film wasn't about all those things. It was something deeper. It was inside Coco, inside that creative woman who didn't listen, who didn't follow the crowd. For what I understood Coco was a lonely woman, who wasn't loved as she wished...oh lord. I could keep writing good and bad things about Coco but, you know live is too short and my dreams are too big. Rest in peace mademoiselle Coco Chanel
why every girl looks gorgeous when she wearing chanel?
Exactly... Good question
money is never lie darling :)
Because she wear Chanel, and nothing else !
because its Chanel..
Risky Jnoor Becase it is simply CHANEL it is meant to look amazing
Geraldine Chaplin is so,so magnificent in the role of Coco CHANEL,elle mérite une nomination " Meilleure Actrice" pour ce rôle. Bravo! Mr.Karl Lagerfeld.

the best of lagerfelds short films. i love the coco chanel quotes that were worked in.
2016 and people are still following Coco Chanel's designs. No wonder she said " I do " Reporter: Who gets to decide what is good taste ? Coco: I do. No crap she's right, and I'm obsessed with her style as it ended up in men's clothes as well.
Each woman has her own taste in clothes and that Chanel woman doesn’t get to decide what is style. Maybe in her crazy mind. Wear what makes u feel beautiful and stick it to fakes like chanel .
Yes some are genuine experts and can boast to be.
Good film, but somehow sad... the loneliness of the creator... Karl Lagerfeld is very talented guy, love his photos and films, he is so underated.. seems nobody can have it all... at least for the moment lol
Karl passed away a few days ago and i came across your comment and smiled. A fashion icon who preferred his privacy. He was loved after all.
And we all die.
what is good taste? Coco: " its has something to do with spiritual values" great line
I just stumbled on this channel and i most say i am in Awe.. Madmoselle Gabrielle "Coco" Chanel was a woman of great wisdom, elegance and style. watching these short films by Karl Lagerfeld is a gift to what her life was like. But the loneliness she felt..made me so sad. I wish she could feel the unending love we all have for her, because it seems she didn't feel it as much as she would like then. Geraldine Chaplin you gave this film so much life and color...Coco Chanel would have been proud.
I wouldn't call sleeping with a nazi "wise", exactly.
Geraldine Chaplin is pure soul love her wow!
llezzamagu1 I would like to see her in many films, she is so moving, I love her, she gives everything

Gosh, I loved this. Seeing "Coco" smile made me smile. 😊 good acting, beautiful clothes, great production.
Me: I like you *My crush: **_That's a very bad joke, Madame._*
This was well acted and the details of the period were on point as all of Karl's films. He has an incredible eye for lighting. The hair was brilliant. I enjoyed this though Geraldine's wig/hair piece did not shoot so well. The color wasn't well blended.
Meneer , you paid attention to the smallest details . You ought to be a couturier.
What a treat. I loved this short film and would love to see a full feature on this. Geraldine Chaplin is mesmerizing. Karl Lagerfeld is a master
Lonely woman without love. Eat lonely for dinner. Best short film. 👌👍💗
The actress playing coco is amazing!
15.33 The most important thing for a woman is to know that she has been loved, to be loved. It is not to love, as to love it is easy..anyone can love.
I wish. I was never in love.
this got me so deep..
That’s maybe true for her. It’s not easy to love, not for everyone. This Chanel woman is nuts. Obviously the jean market made more money she every could dream of with her crappy overpriced clothes. Only rich corrupt pretentious ppl wear her clothes, and idiots who can’t afford it but will go into debt for a label, 99% of ppl wear what makes them feel beautiful. I would never pay $5000 for one of her ugly jackets. And I can afford it. And oh my goodness her beyond ugly purses. And the only Chanel perfume that’s even worth buying is the exclusiv line of perfumes, which she had nothing to do with. That No 5 perfume is horrible . Smells like 100 yr old lady. The aldehydes are horrible. Maybe they tried to make it smell like Chanel as she would smell today. Decomposed....lol Truth.
@@JustanotherLiz So why are you here if youre only going to talk shit to her then?
@@JustanotherLiz you may be able to afford the $5000 chanel jacket dear but you appear to lack some class.
This help a lot to remember her persona and how she was like..very strict but also kind and sweet .maybe a little pretentious and eccentric at times but still a very interesting woman

Karl has focused on what I think is missing from most all films about Coco Chanel...her comeback. I wish there was a movie made about her life after the comeback up to her death. I think this was very well done for a short and wish it were a full length film.
This is the first film by Karl Lagerfeld for Chanel that is actually good. At last he got rid of the talking models and hired real actors.
Geraldine Chaplin has the most beautiful little face i've ever seen; i love each one of her wrinkles; her eyes are so splendid...
I don't know why most people I read in the comments don't like this... but I think it was magnificently wonderful! Beautiful dresses, and hair. The first model was gorgeous, and I could totally see Coco's sass. I think it was all around lovely! Not confusing or awkward at all, per say.
"bad taste, you never get over." - Coco
Geraldine Chaplin is a superb actress !!!
the golden dress was soooo gorgeous... sooo beautiful... just flawless
This is the only short film by Karl Lagerfeld I like, very encouraging & inspiring to me! I'm 45 in 2018 and my life is just about to take off, a real take-off (I was a house husband for many years)........
YAOYU LEE ayyye go for it! Best of luck!
Geraldine Chaplin makes this short film unforgettable...
Karl ,This needs to be a full movie 😀 waiting for that day loved this Thankyou
So much smoking that I almost got lung cancer watching this.
Artist design fashion is always need smoking , I like to watching this vidoes it very professional , but she's hard work she need to take a rest a lot , that's why smoke
If you watch the NY Times series on fashion designers you will notice that J.W. Anderson (one featured designer) smokes Marlboro Lights.

I love Coco Chanel! Her style is timeless!
Delightful! I wish this could be expanded into a feature film. Very well done. Superbly photographed, great attention to details of the period. The casting of Geraldine Chaplin was inspired.Wonderful!
Géraldine is stunning good actress !!!!
Yes she may be a good actress....in one of her father's silent movies perhaps!
Absolutely stunning. Beautiful to look at, unflinching in it's portrayal of a controversial yet brilliant woman. Superb in every sense.
Just watched this again after several years... Geraldine Chaplin is AMAZING as Coco Chanel!!! R.I.P. Karl Lagerfeld.
I wanted to see her go on that date the end...
Wonderful! I love the Lagerfeld´s short films!
The most lovely classic and modest dressing ever love it
Wonderful, the direction, the actors, the soundtrack, a round of applause for it.
"Chanel Solitaire" 1981 movie. I owned the VHS. I was hooked. I read every book that could find on Mme. Chanel :)
It felt like 10 minutes. I was impressed when I realized it was almost half a hour long. I was very much entertained and delighted by this. I see there are many knowledgable people here that didn't like this short film, and they have the right to speak their minds, but it's so annoying when people think they represent The Truth. I think it was splendid.
No juzguen tan severamente a Karl.
absolutely OBSESSED with these have been watching them all day!! everything about them is so perfect -- from the details to the actors (geraldine chaplin is just the best!!) every single one i watch i end up wishing it was an entire movie hahaha this is probably my favorite so far
I rewatch this again
I love Ms Chanel, her uniqueness is by nature. A truly genuine person, very genuine and also can feel how she feels about love. I am hooked by the film, it's fantasitc better than so many blockbusters, the compositon, colour, lighting, atmosphere, clothes, beautiful people etc etc are brilliant and I want to watch more.
Watching this for the second time. I love it!

Laura Trif are you a model?
Magnifique ! What a splendid little movie ! Only Karl Lagerfeld could create something like this. ❤ Thank you Coco and thank you Karl for your dazzling collections that I have loved and worn over the years. And no actress wears Chanel like Anna Mouglalis.
I wish I can afford Chanel Jacket or perfume 😧
The perfume is affordable
My son purchased a bottle for me at Christmas. I recently acquired some vintage tweed fabric and will design my own jacket since they are expensive!
Just get a bottle or a fake label. Who's gonna know the difference, if it means so much to you. Kisses!
I always use the whole Chanel no 5 and Chanel Coco toilettries line ( perfume, EDT, bath oil, bath gel, body powder, body lotion). It always makes me ready to face the day . And for the Chanel wardrobe..so far I only have 3 suits, 6 purses and 3 pairs of shoes..but I intent to expand it 😊
You can actually buy a lip balm
Great job in making this film. Love it!
I can't stop watching this... Wonderful.
I really admire her she wasn't rich and she worked for it.
Geraldine Chaplin, enough to love this film.
never too late for love .and yes woman dress for woman
Or ourselves mostly.
Brilliant, this was quite enjoyable, the film was like a visual poem. Some of us loved it and felt every moment presented and the entirety of this short film, and some quite clearly did not, pretty much like everything else in the world. Be that as it may, I found it riveting and interesting to watch throughout, liked the pacing and the tension ( yes tension) in many of the scenes, especially the ending.
Such Marvelous work, Good job CHANEL!
“You see francoise. On the sight of great success. One is world famous. One is rich...apparently and yet I’m sitting here alone.” I’ve felt her sadness hearing that. 😔
Its geraldine chapline and karl lagerfeld who rosed a love in my heart for CHANEL. 📽
I am really pleased to have stumbled upon these Chanel channel. I did not know much at all about this style icon and im pleasantly surprised to have found a new role model of sorts. I admire her authenitcity and strength. SHe is able to stand her ground without coming off as rude or overemotional. I only hope to one day have this kind of grace.
God Bless her sweet heart... I sincerely hope she wasn't lonely in the end. She deserved love.
it's all about LOVE. thank you coco chanel !
