The Leafs got gangraped by the refs in 74 and 75. That was the first 2 years that American TV was being sought after by the league office. It also explains the refs in game 2. If Boston goes down 2 nil it's very hard to conceal a fix.
@@grousetheghoul2754 I think the most obvious point of the night was the penalty given to Kadri after the Boston penalty for sending the puck over the ice...Leafs still had a chance at coming back at that point.

After games 3 and 4 I don't think it's gonna happen. The last two games have been pretty quiet compared to this one. Although if something big is gonna kick off, it'll be in Boston.

He did. Freddie Andersen is the only person keeping the leafs in the series at all. that game could've easily been 8-1 were it not for him. As a Bruins fan, he is one of a few guys on Toronto that I respect.

We knew this was coming. Debrusk played dirty from the get go. And the refereeing was terrible. The game got out of hand because of the officiating. Just terrible.

Kadri didnt hit him from behind, debrusk should have been called for like 5 peneltys, the one on Marleau, he meant to drive him into where the end of the bench meets the boards or stanchion, elbow to Dermotts face, the hit hit in kadri was fine but he crossed checks him once, kadri looks at the ref and when he does gets mauled to the ice. Then the kneeing to kadri? No call, not even 2 minutes. Thats just kadri, i saw at least 3 bruin high sticks. If kutcharov got 1 game, kadri shouldn't miss a game unless debrusk gets 1 for kneeing. That knee could've knocked kadri out of the playoffs, hes been the best player for the Leafs, him and Anderson and Nylander. The 3rd line has dominated. Then you listen to the older then dirt bias cherry who talks about how much he loves these types of players but doesn't like kadri for some reason. Hes Toronto born as well. Then kyprious says kadri embellished the knee? He tried to avoid it and debrusk stuck his knee out. The refs were brutal.
Debrusk earned that one. I'm an Avs fan and they're calling everything in our series but nothing in this one.

And that is a huge problem for the league, the inconsistency of the reffing. If they're going to call the game as they did last night, then management would likely assemble a different team with a bit more grit. But the NHL said they want this type of buffonery out of the game and then allow these two clowns to call a game like that?

Refs were not making calls against Bruins and game got out of hand. DeBrusk hit knee on knee to Kadri and no penalty. Crazy

Yeah I agree, as a Bruins fans I kept cringing every once in a while throughout the games expecting a call on them. Although the amount of whining coming from Toronto fans is a bit uncalled for, both teams played dirty, that's the playoffs for ya.

Boston is the easiest reffed team in the league by a mile. Should really win a cup every other year with the advantages have in the playoffs. Its crazy.

Anyone else notice once Kadri was gone there were no more cheap shots and dirty plays for most part. All I heard was Debrusk was so dirty. He seemed like he played fine the rest of series. Pretty sure he didn't even get another penatly after this game

I think debrusk is a bigger puke then Marchand lol he also timed that hit so he could run marleau into the bar. If you watch it close he had time to hit sooner but waited and hit him right as they were at the bar.

It's more then a little suspicious how many times over multiple playoffs that the referees call the type of game that greatly benefits the Bruins over the opponent.
If you're going to call the weak hooking penalties made by one team, atleast have the decency to call the cross checkings, interferences, the trippings, and boarding penalties as well. Leafs were infracted upon atleast three times in the first 12 minutes of the game. Hell, even Rask was in on the tripping at the start.
You forgot the multiple high sticks.. I counted 4 on Tavares alone. For me those are the worse penalties..getting high sticked in the face can be quite painful.
Yup kadri was trying to avoid the hit from debrusk!!! So what did debrusk do? He stuck out his leg to try and Target kadris knee to injure kadri!! So debrusk should get a suspension for that one play alone!!!

@@marselvitti How about spotters? Either the league is hiring substandard officials, or the game has gotten too fast for them to be effective. A few extra eyes off the ice wouldn't hurt. If only to catch the more egregious missed calls.

Officiating in this game was nonexistent. Just disgusting. Refs couldn't sort this out in the 1st period?? They cost both teams injuries and a possible suspension by letting things get out of hand. I hope the NHL looks and evaluates the officiating in this game. Playoff hockey is one thing but too many non calls here. No point in hiring refs if no one even knows or follows the rules anyway.

They had Guy LaFleur, Lemaire, Shutt, Dryden was in goal, and he was so good he even sold popcorn between periods. Dryden holds a record that will never be broken. He won the Conn Smythe as the most valuable player. in 1971. SINGLEHANDEDLY winning the Cup. He comes back the next season and wins Calder Trophy, rookie of the year. Speed , grace, finesse, power when needed were on that team. They were so good they stopped the American TV flyer menace in a sweep, the first of what was the first of 4 in a row. That is hockey. What American TV wants is something that's a cross between " The Running Man " and " Rollerball " THAT'S NOT HOCKEY.

Watching this clip years later and it’s still shocking to see how dirty Boston is then and how dirty they still are now Chara should have been tossed. Kadri deserves a award.

0:05 Slashed Hyman while on the ground, 0:15 Hits Kadri and he didnt even touch the puck, 0:25 Roughing Kadri for no reason after the puck long gone, 1:35 blind side hit with an extra punch to the face, 1:45 Knee on Knee, 2;50 Stick in the face, did the refs get paid? All this after tall lanky Chara ran around like a goon with no consequences in the first game
DeBrusk, Chara, McAvoy,...everybody on the Bruins lineup for this series played dirty as hell and they didn't get called for it.
4:16 reminds me of the Alexander Ovechkin - Max Pacioretty hit from 2011. drove him head-first into the corner intentionally... that is why those corners are rounded now.

Didn't know why Kadri got called on the Debrusk face wash. He should have got the instigating on that one. Debrusk saw Kadri with his head down and stuck the knee out. Should have been a major penalty there. And how is it that he lays motionless like he was hurt on the Kadri check and sprung up and skated away. That guy is a weasel even his team players know it.
Check out the game results ..DeBrusk got one penalty and took off Kadri at the same time & DeBrusk was clearly the aggressor in that situation.
