It's super fun as a kid, but then when you're an adult it's like "sh!t, now I have to shovel/snowblow, roof might cave in, the dogs won't want to piss or poop outside, I STILL have to go in to work." Stay young kids!
As a kid winter was one of my most profitable seasons. Shoveling and snow blowing driveways. Made even more money if they wanted the roof done. Kids today can't put their electronics down long enough.

I’m in New York and I can tell everyone that the snowstorm only hit Buffalo I think bc I’m only a few hours away from Buffalo and it’s around 60 degrees where I am it’s crazy how much snow they got though, I pray that families can stay safe through this snow storm!
Hope you're safe there I really feel for those that are into such situation because I have gone through it once and I sold half of my properties looking for a way to park out to a nice country where there is no snow

That's the level of snow I remember as a child and consider normal.
: I remember big snowfalls as a child, but I wonder if I remember it because it was rare? Then we had the Blizzard of '77. And I also remember, about 40 years ago it rained so hard on Jan 1st that the crawl space in the house I lived in flooded. I remember reading " weather is what we get, climate is what we expect".

I remember growing up around a bunch of snow in Michigan! But, I remember like 2 or 3 crazy winters. The snow was up to all of US children knees. We all were moonboots, lmbo played outside in it and walked to school in it. One time it even snowed in April right on my birthday party. I was so pissed, lmbo. My party almost got canceled. But, thanks to my brave Mommy saved the day. She picked up like 12 girls cuz there parents didn't want to risk driving in such scary conditions. Goodness, I sure miss those 80's!

У нас зимой все водители с лопатами ездят и в такие мощные снегопады не сговариваясь все друг другу помогают, откапывают, вообще без разговоров - хоп, хоп и разъехались все кто куда ехал. 👍🏻 А спецтехника до шести утра уже много что успевает прочистить, иначе всё колом встанет, когда люди на работу поедут, надо ведь жить дальше и работать. У нас ведь полгода +/- в подобных условиях. Но к такому надо быть готовыми и морально и физически, и городская система отлажена для уборки, если такое застанет неожиданно там, где этого не бывает, это, конечно, жесть. Крепитесь те, кто к этому не готов! Всё будет хорошо, вы справитесь! 🙏🏻☀️❤️

I lived in Rochester, NY (next door to Buffalo) during the 1984 blizzard. The only way to the grocery store was through a narrow path with five foot drifts on either side. You had to squeeze past people going in the opposite direction. Everyone was super friendly!
I guess that's why it's best to prepare for such situations. Have something to cook on if gas or electricity goes at home. Have instant food and canned food also at home to last a while. So people don't need to go outside.
Here in Texas, we damn sure don't take too kindly to snow ..

The access roads to ski areas surprise me. The walls of snow seem to get up to 10 feet above the plowed road. People climb over it to get to the chalets and lifts.

Lived 48 years in MN and snow is only nice after a fresh fall, then it quickly turns into salty slush, yellow from dogs and drivers turn into idiots. 20+ years in AZ now and I like seeing snow on the mountains. And NO potholes! It is sunny and 70 degrees now. 😊

Помню в 1979 мы переехали в Казахстан и там нас снегом так замело почти наровне с крышой, папе пришлось с сзади дома в окно вылезти и прокопать нам туннель чтобы мы могли из дома выйти, так я потом наверх залезла и в этот туннель провалилась, меня потом откапывали, с тех пор очень люблю снежную зиму

As a plumber/gas fitter, had to work on the Milford Track in fiordland during winter.....not so great. One hut we worked on, my job was to thaw out the pipes for our water.....temperature gauge read -24.5°Celsius, which is bloody cold for here....take care, and blessings to you in Belarus...p.s a lot of us here support Russia and Belarus in the conflict.

Hardly an apocalypse. It snowed like this in southern England in 1977...it was awesome. The snow was at least 6ft deep, we were walking around and realised we were walking on top of buried cars. The snow drifted so deep we could touch the tops of the telegraph poles. It was fantastic.

Да чтоб снег мокрый,да прям в лицо,по щекам,а я на русской печке под периной,и эти воспоминания о замерзающих в полете воробьях,которых папа приносил, идя с работы.А работали зимой в лесу,заготавливали дрова на следующую такую же зиму,матушку.И это называлось не апокалипсис,а Русская Зима.

In Newfoundland we call this Tuesday. We had a storm labeled snowmaggedon. Over 8 feet of snow drifted across my driveway in one night
That happened here in 2014. It was weird, too, because the south side of the city got slammed while the north end only got a dusting over what was already on the ground. I worked late for four days that week because only 3 people could make it in to work. And then I had that Friday off, so they had to figure something else out.

You have to realize that this type snow is in bands coming off mostly Lake Erie from a SW+- wind going over the warm lake, picking up moisture and depositing as snow in bands when it hits land. So the people experiencing this snow are very accustomed to this periodically. I live about 15+ miles north of Buffalo. While Buffalo was getting all this snow, I was getting virtually nothing. Then the wind shifted, Buffalo today is getting very little, while where I live got about 6.5 inches, and we may get more depending on the wind direction. I am almost 74, and I shoveled out my driveway in about an hour. I suspect I may have to do that again tomorrow morning. No biggie. I experienced the Blizzard of '77. Compared to that, this is a piece of cake. I use shoveling as part of my exercise plans. If we don't get much snow in a season, I miss the exercise.

Какая опасность ребята? Мы так живём с 6-8месяцев зимой и это совсем не опасность, только чистить снегоуборочным машинам работа и всем гражданам на транспорте соблюдать дистанцию. А детям начальных классов отменяют занятия, а для взрослых нормальный рабочий день и если вечером буран то с работы на час раньше отпустят, что бы все разъехались домой и все норм. Вообще когда буранит обычно тепло не сильно низкая температура - 5, - 8 градусов мороза-для зимы это не холодно

This is what happens in winter especially if you live by lake Ontario or Erie. It's known as lake effect snow. Happens all the time.
All of the great lakes have their respective lake effect belts. Northwest Indiana and southwest Michigan are a prime example for lake Michigan

Being born and growing up in Ohio close to Lake Erie I sure remember some bad snow storms in the 50s and 60s. Loved the first snow, after that it was nasty having to walk to school in it. Back in those days we didn't have snow days, like they do today..

Yes it has snowed a lot in NY but it needs to be realized this is in an isolated area not widespread. Furthermore this has happened numerous times in the past and is caused by cold air flowing over the warmer waters of the great lakes. Nothing new here folks.

@@chrismacola9945 Has nothing to do with it. Some years winter starts early. 2000 and 2014 had more snow in November than now. In 2006, it snowed on October 12 which was really a mess because the trees hadn't shed their leaves yet. People freaking out over the weather since the rise of the internet. In California, it can snow in the Sierra Nevada mountains in May which makes for great skiing in June and July.

I lived in Niagara Falls, NY for five years in the 1960s as a kid. I remember one Halloween, trick or treating in a foot of snow. If anyone knows how to handle this amount of snow, Western New Yorkers do.

I am from Hartford. Our colliseum downtown collapsed. We had no power. My mother was a nurse. I slept in the break room with other kids where she worked. The pipes froze. My father slept in the car with the motor running. Our windows glazed over. Our Willow tree split in half. The dog watched the apartment. It was surreal.
